Not really. Only 2 premierships since 1994 despite their wealth. It's more about off field success for them.They have had a lot of success so the punters believe it’s only a matter of time and I’m not talking 10 years.
They are the biggest sport and social gig in town with the support of most of the big corporates and the press with a huge amount of $$$ in the bank.
Much like the crows but on a much grander scale.
Were given a huge platform by being the first team to join the VFL outside of Victoria. And Freo were always playing catch up and didn't have the history and social capital behind them like Port had when we joined.
Also owned by the WA Football Commission and not the AFL. If the WAFC ever decides to sell that licence to a private buyer then the West Coast juggernaut will become even stronger.
