West Coast confirming they are bullet proof to poor on field performance. 18th in 2023 after 17th in 2022 and lucky not to win the wooden spoon that year as they had North's incompetence to protect them from the wooden spoon.

The West Coast Eagles Football Club is pleased to announce a net operating surplus for the 2023 season of $1,976,154 (2022: $3,463,902). This is another strong financial result which can be attributed largely to the club’s loyal member base and the continued support received from sponsors and corporate partners.

Despite disappointing on-field performances, average home game attendances ranked sixth across the AFL which is again testament to the wonderful support that the club receives from our dedicated members and fans. These factors combined to drive a seven percent increase in revenue, being a return to near pre-pandemic levels.

Offsetting this revenue uplift were increases in various cost areas of the football club, the result of the broader economic inflationary environment, along with increases in both player and football department spending limits. In total, the club’s investment in its men’s and women’s football programs increased by $2.5m.

The club also continued its on-going support of the WA football community, with a royalty payment of $2m to the WA Football Commission and a further $600,000 in WAFL licence fees ie fee to play in WAFL).

W.A is one of those places that’s run by handful of very rich businessmen, has been like that since the Bond days.
These unknown faces have strong ties to West Coast and have a bottomless pit of cash.
Yes they have a loyal supporter base because they know things will turn around in a reasonable time but the big bucks rolling in guarantees they will never need a handout.

6th sounds great after their shit seasons but in context anything less would be shocking.

I mean they’re comparing them to a competition where 10 teams are in one state and nearly half of them are basically obsolete to the competition and only serve to keep the big vic clubs control over the comp, and 4 clubs exist in cities where most people barely can name the rugby clubs in their state much less afl clubs.

Not too mention because of the waiting time to get a club membership with reserved seats no one is going to not renew during a down slump.

In their first two years at Optus, WCE were ranked only behind Collingwood and Richmond for home attendances, but now Carlton, Essendon and even Melbourne have gone past them.
Yeah but they’re attendances are bullshit and inflated.

Just like memberships. Although WCE continue to rake in the $zillions because they've got a waiting list of thousands and can charge whatever they like - even if the fans don't turn up to games as much as when they was good.

WCE only get one home game a H&A season against a same state team. Carlton, Essendon and Melbourne play same state teams most weeks so they should have better attendances.

An example would be , team x versus gws in the same time slot

‘A terrible timeslot against such opposition, awful fixturing from AFL House. Hawthorn fans are right to send a message to Demetriou, and you can bet the bigwigs won’t make that mistake again!’

‘Uh-oh! I hope they didn’t sell the tarps! Port fans are letting their club down, they’re letting themselves down!’

Remember that time collingwood v carlton got the sunday evening graveyard slot and struggled to pull 30k, and Eddie exploded and threatened to sue the afl for all the money that appalling fixturing cost them. The AFL certainly didn't make that mistake again

Yes!

Or the time conservative shock jock and Bays/Richmond man Steve Price went scorched earth on us for this attendance against the lowly Lions:

And the very next week his mighty Toiges, as reigning premier, only attracted this many against the same opponent:

Crickets. It’s an absolutely laughable double-standard.

It's almost like it's a VFL in all, but name. This is the sort of shit the likes of Kane Cornes (or any non-Vic. media person), SHOULD be shouting, except they are all just 'branch offices' of the VFL media.

Well not just the media. If the likes of Koch was doing his job properly, instead of just worshipping Ken, he'd be out there highlighting such attendance differences as evidence the Melbourne market has too many sides, trying to paint it that if they got rid of a couple, the remaining clubs would then get better crowds (and more money). Try to encourage them to fight amongst themselves, both as an immediate distraction from combining against non-Vic clubs and get some outside the insular Vic media, asking why on earth we still have 10 clubs in one state still. Of course like everything that matters, Koch is either missing in action, if he's not making things worse (small little club, lucky to play in the beloved VFL AFL).

According to that prick, we’re Port Power Est. 1997, but the reason he hates us so much is because of all the bad experiences he had at Alberton growing up 🤔

Richmond forward Tom Lynch will miss the opening round of the AFL season as he continues to recover from a serious foot injury.
Lynch hasn’t played since April last year when he suffered the injury and was subsequently ruled out for the season.
Richmond is hopeful Lynch will be available to take on Carlton in round one five days after their opening round clash.

St Kilda defender Ben Paton is set to miss three months of the season with a ruptured pec. The 25-year-old suffered the injury at training, marking the latest lengthy injury setback for him.
