5 - Chris Knights

Just a ridiculously dominant game. Our clear number one player on the ground.

That was more like the Knights we'd come to know and love pre-injury. Won a shitload of hard ball at the contest, and his use was really, really impressive.

Fantastic response to some very poor performances. Was absolutely terrific.

Do the rest later.

5 - Edwards Another quality performance tried his guts out
4 - Knights Have to eat my words this week, good comeback!

POTY:
5. Thompson - One of the very few players on our list who is in his physical prime and as a result one of the few who win one-on-ones. Consistency is the one thing which seperates him from the greats...
4. Knights - Much improved. Running through the lines was a great sign. His total lack of a right foot does make him a HTB magnet though.
3. Edwards - While Goodwin, Mcleod, Burton and Bassett appear to have very little football left in them, this bloke is still playing excellent football. Deserves another go in 2009.
2. Bock - Kept Travis Cloke to 1 goal whilst getting a slab of the ball himself.
1. van Berlo - Very solid game. Needs to utilise his superior fitness more if he wants to become tier 1.

BTM:
3. Shirley
2. Bass
1. Doughty

2. Tippett

5. Knights - Great comeback by Knights after a couple of weeks of ordinary disposal. Won plenty of hard ball, used the ball well and was comfortably our best player today. Well played, Chris. :thumbsu:

4. Edwards - There's still life in those ageing legs of his, and if he keeps playing as he is will earn himself another 1 year contract. Read the play well and generally used the ball well.

3. van Berlo - a great game by VB and has gone from strength to strength IMO to become a more attacking type mid-fielder. Loves the hard stuff and has a huge work rate.

2. Thompson - Not the perfect game from Thommo, who tried to do too much on a few occasions, but no-one can deny his effort. Tough as tungsten and it'd be nice to have 2 of him - one for up forward and one for on-ball.

1. Burton - Who said there's no room for sentiment in this game?? In what sadly might prove to be his last game in Crows colours, 1 point goes to the Birdman for 4 first half goals and virtually being the forward line until his unfortunate injury.

Best Team Man

3. Edwards - see above

2. Maric - has come of age as an AFL ruckman and virtually did it single handedly today. Gutsy effort.

1. Bock - provided a lot of run and dash from the back lines. Not completely at his normal AA best but still a good effort.

ROOKIE

2. Tippett - a welcome return to form by the ex-basketballer today. Had opportunities in the first half which thinned out in the 2nd half as we became less and less attacking.

1. Maric - see above

5 Chris Knights Our best by a margin. Did very little wrong.
4 Scott Thompson This bloke is amazing. In the 3rd quarter, he's dropping back to pick up Travis Cloke, gathering his own spoil, dishing off, linking through the midfield and then presenting inside his own forward line. Stepped up when leadership was needed.
3 Nathan Van Berlo Stood tall when the traffic was going the other way.
2 Graeme Johncock Not his greatest game (and again went to water on the kick-ins after one bad one) but always prepared to back himself and go forward, unlike some of his teammates in the back 6.
1 Brett Burton Our only real forward for 70 minutes. Devastating that he got hurt.

Tyson Edwards played a solid 1st half, but disappeared after that. Close to the votes, and if his first option was to look upfield rather than sideways every time, he'd have snuck in.

BTM

3 Scott Thompson It seemed like there were 3 of him. We needed 6.
2 Michael Doughty Always prepared to put the body in when needed
1 Chris Knights Never dropped his head.

5: Cris Knights -
good 4 quarter effort and went in hard to amass 37 disposals
4: Scott Thompson - Had a real good second half
3: Ivan Maric - won his position really well and tried his heart out
2: Graham Johncock - took the opposition on but struggled on the kick outs
1: Brett Burton - Only forward that did anything and looked dangerous right up until that incident, lets all pray he can recover and that these wont be his last votes in a Crows guernsey

BTM

3: Nathan van Berlo:
gave a good solid team performance
2: Ivan Maric - see above
1: Tyson Edwards - put in a solid lionhearted Tyson Edwards like game

ROTY

2: Ivan Maric:

1: Kurt Tippet: tried hard when the ball came down to him but needed to present more

If there was something to kick to ahead he wouldn't have to go sideways all the time!

POTY:
5) Knights - Emphatic return to form for this bloke, just gets the votes over Tyson, as he gave a full 4 quarters
4) Edwards - Brilliant in the first half, not sure who was on him in the second half, but think he may have copped a decent tagger who slowed him down a touch.
3) Thompson - Racked up the possessions again, however definitely wasn't his best game for the season.
2) Bock - Solid again in defence, may be in line for a move forward sadly if we can't find anyone to cover Burton or Porps
1) Burton - 4 goals in a half gets you votes, devastating that he went down, lets hope he is suitable for the Malceski style surgery, otherwise its career over pretty much.

BTM:
3) Edwards
2) VB
1) Shirley

ROTY:
2) Maric
1) Tippet - Wasn't it great to see him leading up the ground a little and taking grabs in the centre square, creating that target across CHF, thats what we need.
