I'm sick of everyone sniping Carlisle . Piss off with that shit
Relax a bit champ:eek::p.

But i tend to agree. Yes he ****** up bad ,but hes copped his punishment like a man. And so far hes done nothing wrong since arriving at our club.
No point sitting around expecting him to stuff up again or moaning about the club making a good or bad decision.
Back him in 100%.

GO SAINTS

How bloody broad are Hugh's shoulders here!:

I couldn't believe the frame he had last year. He has the sort of frame that looks like he will fill out to about 110 to 120 kgs and he's tall too. He's more Glen Jakovich than Dustin Fletcher that's for sure.

Tom Lee is looking in fantastic nick. Has some size on him at the moment
I'm really bullish on Lee - I hope he makes it as a defender / swingman. The impending retirement of established defenders will be ameliorated by having a mature-bodied player familiar with our structures just step in.

It would be a great result to get Lee down back. Really be a bonus. Imagine our flexibility with him Carlisle and Bruce in the same 22. Swing men everywhere

And Goddard as someone who has played a lot of time up forward as a junior.

If Lee comes on as that 3rd tall then the rebuild will be nearly fully finished.

Is Tom technically in the 1-4 group or is he just down doing extra?

not sure but
for somebody who had his first crack at AFL back In 2009 and still hasnt become a regular player (albeit due to various reasons).
Youd hope that Tommy realizes he needs to pull his finger out and he has volunteered to do the extra work of his own bat.
Still only 24 but he would be smart enough to know time is ticking.
Good luck to him. Lets hope he can make it.

They should have given Lee a go last year while Fisher was injured.
Yeah, I really wish they had done that. Was a golden opportunity to have a look at him. Perhaps they thought they'd get a chance later in the year, but it obviously didn't work out that way. I also suspect that they wanted to keep that spot open for Gilbo, who was almost due to return.

Not seeing too many likely openings for Tom next year though, with all of Carlisle, Goddard, Fisher, Dempster, Roberton and Gilbo likely to be in the team ahead of him and all capable of playing "tall" back there. Richo also seems to really like those who are able to play both tall and small and Tom doesn't have the mobility/versatility of Dempster, Roberton and Gilbo, so that may make it harder for him to get a spot in that 3rd tall role.

I've been as big a wrap for Tom as probably anyone, since before we even got him and think if things had worked out differently he could have had a really good couple of years for us to this point, but now he is looking up against it and it may depend on how many list spots we need to free up at the end of the year, and whether he still wants to be here.

Sure is a tough backline to get into but if his sandy form is good, they have to play him for a bit - if only to get his trade value up. Gilbert shouldn't play defence, his kicking is too bad and Fish and Dempster won't be around for long so they need to see Lee play in the 1's. If Lee plays crap then we know where we stand. If he's good, then he, Carlisle and Goddard are the future and Dempster and Fish are the past.

They should have given Lee a go last year while Fisher was injured. Anyway, I'm glad we didn't trade him and hopefully he seizes his chance next season. He should also get a haircut.
And get a real job while hes at it. And stop being a slob and he should be more like his big brother Bob.

Any body who knows Mr. Thorogood will know what the hell im on about:thumbsu:

Ideally we would see the transition from Sam Fisher who has served our club so very well to Tom Lee in that 3rd tall position.

His intercept marking is extremely good (Like Fisher) and having them play half of the games each would be something to look at.
Hopefully this is something Richo can see and get Fisher to take him under his wing this year.

This is the make or break year for Tom and I feel we give him every chance to make it.

Sorry but there is a reason Tom Lee hasn't made it, he is not good enough and I don't mean to be disrespectful towards Tom but AFL is a tuff gig and some players just cant make it weather its through injury or bad luck If Tom was going to make it he would have by now, should never been given a 2 year contract in the 1st place.

Andrew Thompson says hi

And what is the relevance with Andrew Thompson
Andrew didn't wait 4 years to take his chance once he got on an AFL list, he grabbed his chance and ran with it 1st chance he got
