Predict the Crows first draft pick 2024

Hi all

Time to put up your thoughts and see who has bragging rights for a day (or 2) after Wednesday night.

My view is we do trade with Kangas for pick 2. We are the obvious trade partner as many have suggested. We then take Draper. Ideally third rounders only used (potentially swapping these with another team like Sydney for their F2 which we give to Kangas) esp with 2025 being the first year allowing 2 future years of draft pick trading allowing us to get back into the draft in 2025.

If keeping 4, clearly it comes down to who is left over but my gut feeling is we take Langford.

If things fall how I imagine then yeah we'll likely select Draper at 4

Still love Langford more, but understand the melts if Draper was there and we took him instead.

If Carlton do the unthinkable and take Draper then I hope we do pull the trigger on Langford.

Crows seem to like seeing how players play v men (ie Jones ), so based on that I think the 2 players we’d like is out of Smith and Draper .

The Advertiser couldn't be wrong so we trade up to pick 2 and take Jagga Smith.

Sydney won't trade a second needed by Norf for two of our thirds because from 2025, after all the compo picks and bid matching, a heap of the thirds held by top eight clubs and maybe even lower won't have any points attached. Sydney apparently could have a couple of top 20 players to match next year so will need points, they're not trading in third rounders.

Suspect we'll find another way to appease Norf

No, we take a gun midfielder with pick 4... which we desperately need.

Quick snapshot on poll so far. Around 55% of posters believe we will get Draper with most of these thinking it’s at pick 4.

32% believe we will get Smith and the slight surprise is a slight majority think we get him at 2 not 4

Ie combo of above 2 stats is IF we trade up its for Smith NOT Draper. That’s consistent with recent media speculation which I personally am somewhat sceptical of.

A little surprised 9% believe we will trade to 2 and get Lalor (who I assumed goes at one but who really knows)

As for “best bet” if a market for odds was being made , Pugsley being the ONLY voter with Langford at 4 seems the best value IMO. I think if Lalor, Smith and Draper are gone (likely means Tiges have traded for pick 2), then I agree Langford would be most likely.

Anyway still a few days to go and eagerly awaiting some of our draft gurus (Bigman and Bicks etc) and old mates and other regulars to put their kahunas on the line for the grand prize on offer

Edit - NOT one vote for FOS at either 2 or 4…

Here’s a controversial opinion, I don’t think Lalor is number 1 on our list. I think it’s either Smith or Draper

I don't think we've made too many drafting howlers in recent times.

Part of me wants us to take a risk on someone outside of that top four/five though. Some fascinating looking players in that 6-12 mark.

Probably still overly concerned that we do some magic out the hat thing.

I get what you are saying but, and Im sure we say this every year, it just feels like a pick we can't afford to burn

Its probably predicated on my assumption we are going to at least be top 10 next year.
