Is Hodge going to resume the role of Backline General or continue in the Mids like he did last game crashing and bashing and moving the ball forward inch by inch? If not who else will take the Tom Murphy/Goo role in the team as we don't really have any like for like Ins this week.

I just worked something out.
Since round 6, we have a 16-2 record.
Over those 18 rounds, we have scored 2332 points, or 129.55 points per game.

Based on this, if the crows are going to make a late change, they better bring in a defender.
Because if they don't contain our ability to score, we will win comfortably.

With this talk of Adeliade bringing in a third tall forward to stretch us, I would have thought Adelaide look decidedly small down back given the talls we'll undoubtedly play up there. If one of Hale and Roughy is playing deep, with Gunston leading and Buddy on his bike, Adelaide don't look like they have the defensive options. On paper we could really expose them down back.

Absolutely spot on.

I'd like him to start in the BP & swing into the middle on occasions, such as when Suckling comes onto the field.

Having quality midfielders* like Hodge & Burgoyne in defence & guys like Breust & Rioli forward is worth it's weight in gold (goals may be the more appropriate term there). Not only are they brilliant in those positions but they're literally additional midfielders to rotate through the middle, preserving our legs/run.

I'd take this any day of any week over playing Murphy/Cheney simply due to the number of positions these other guys can cover (well).

I was more concerned about the tall big bodied Weagles. Even their rucks didn't hurt us either.. So pleased we flogged them..:D
So many teams try to expose our supposed weakness of height down back, most of those teams get flogged because we run it out so easily. Geelong has shown that two talls is more than enough as long as you have quality delivery to the forwards

^^^ Spot on! :thumbsu:

How many games this year have the opposition tried to bring in an extra tall? Heaps! IIRC it's only worked twice by the opposition and that was Geelong in both games. The Eagles failed in this tactic in Round 23, as has many other teams during the season. Yet we smack teams going the other way. It's not a wise move by Adelaide bringing in a tall. They lose run and if they don't mark it, then they are ineffective.

Tip: Hawthorn by 33 points

Jarryd Roughead to kick 4 :thumbsu:

I'm hoping for Gunston to kick a bag, shove it up the crows supporters bagging him for leaving them

I've enjoyed watching Gunston play this year. There is just so much upside to this kid. What's impressive is his perfomances against the top teams. In the match against Geelong he kicked 4.0, against Collingwood in Round 16 he had 21 disposals 3 goals. Very consistent year so far. :thumbsu:

Just heard interesting news on SEN a few mins ago..Caro Wilson was told by the McCarthy family she was not wanted at the funeral, they are still very angry with her because she wrote an article about John when he and Beams? were involved in that incident a few years back. Yet when she was on FC she was bragging about how well she knew the family because her father lived in the same street as the McCarthy family. She has at long last rec,d the kick up the proverbial she deserves!,I don't think the Age would be very happy.
'

BTW I bet you don't hear anything much about her and this news, she won't say a thing about'the MCCarthy family, and she was asked not to come to the funeral, would love another paper to print it,I can-t believe Barrett hasn't said anything yet.She will defend herself on F C if at all..

On his performance in the Collingwood game, I wouldn't be surprised to see Savage start. Just can't work out who will be the sub. Any ideas?

I think sub will be out of Savage and Young, although Savage had probably his best game of the year against the pies. Young sometimes struggles to run out 4 quarters and coming of a calf, he might be the candidate.

Team looks as good as it can be with available players. Only Goo could come back in this year barring further injuries ( touch wood ) which he will push hard for next week, if / when we win.
Think we should get home by 5 goals ish but predicting us to have a sluggish start finding our feet again after a week off. We will come back strong and get the momentum rolling into next weeks Granny.
Young / Ellis or Savage will get the vest, possibly Young.
I think Savage deserves a start after a very very impressive performance against the Pies in circumstances that needed him to stand up, which he did beautifully.
Nerves are starting to build, will be watching tonights game hoping for a bruising encounter.
Karna Hawks !!!

Am starting to feel very nervous about the game, am hoping footy karma doesn't get us.

I hate hearing all this talk about Grand Final parties, who will be facing us in the Grand Final; Collingwood or Sydney, the ridiculous odds on this game. It just feels like we are being set up for massive disappointment.

Hopefully its just pre game nerves..... Saturday afternoon can't come quick enough.

You're reading my mind!!!

Loved watching his game against Collingwood in Rd 16. Only spot I could stand was in the Ponsford fwd pocket with a bunch of Collywobble fans. Gunner and Lewis soon shut them up. Great day.

All these Crows supporters ringing up saying how the Hawks are no good and how we are going to choke. Please, the media have every right to build Hawthorn up wether we like it or not. We have been the best team all year and if Crows supporters wanted their club to be classed as the best team all year then they would of won games on the road and at the G. 4 of their wins have been againts the GWS and GC...
