Nearly took a job in C
It's down to three at Old Brighton, Paul Groves, Nathan Brown(ex OM's and OG) and Shane Joyce.

Also believe Jordie McKenzie will be the new coach at Collegians, which means that Plugger is the most recent coach to win the premier flag ;)

If he has gone, he will have retired...

I can confirm that as Mr Platinum said (he must have good sources) that Jordie McKenzie will be our new senior coach. Jordie is a terrific bloke and has a great footy brain.

He coached our unders side in 2021 when we had no else to do so and he has been a great assistant for the past couple of seasons as well.

Yep......Just been announced...Retiring.

Good to see Sam Sofronidis getting a big pump up on the AFL website from former SKOB player Josh Gabelich.

Looks like Sof is on the radar of Geelong, Sydney, Gold Coast and Collingwood.

This is also a huge advertisement for the VAFA and how good the standard of A grade footy is.

Jordie McKenzie named as Collegians new senior coach

Set to take over from a great mate, Jordie McKenzie has revealed his plans for VAFA powerhouse Collegians who have lost one gun but regained another full-time.

Don’t expect Jordie McKenzie to change too much as the new senior coach of Collegians.

The former Melbourne hard nut will take over from Jared Rivers as the reigning VAFA premiers new mentor for next season.

Rivers has stood down from the role to spend more time with his young family and McKenzie expects a smooth transition heading into 2024.

In recent seasons, he had served as Rivers’ assistant so has a strong understanding of the club’s playing list.

“Taking over wasn’t really on the radar until probably later in the year when Riv said he was looking to step aside,” McKenzie said.

“I thought he might go again at one point. It’s going to be a great challenge to continue leading his group forward into another season.

“But I’m confident I have the ability to continue on the good work Riv has done in the last few years. I won’t be making wholesale changes because the system we have in place works.

“It’s a great level of footy to be involved in. There’s some serious footballers at Collegians and across the competition who could easily play at a higher level.”

With a strong playing list already in place, McKenzie said he isn’t expecting too many changes heading into next season.

Although star forward David Mirra has elected to hang up the boots.

Meanwhile, Coburg VFL vice-captain Nathan Boucher is set to return to the club on a full-time basis.

“The turnover won’t be big,” he said.

“Dave has enjoyed a wonderful career and what a way to go out. It’s exciting to get Nathan back as well, he’s only played a few games over the last few years so he will be a quality addition.

Roys have appointed a new coach - from the club Facebook post:

The Fitzroy Football Club is proud to announce Travis Ronaldson as our new Senior Coach for season 2024. Travis has come to Fitzroy after a successful playing and coaching career where he played at VFL level for 8 years, captaining Coburg from 2006–2007, including a grand final in 2007. He was named in the VFL Team of the Year in 2007 and finished third in the Liston Medal. Following his time in the VFL, Travis was a playing assistant coach at Old Scotch in VAFA Premier Division and coached Old Ivanhoe to a senior C Grade premiership in 2013 and into B Grade in 2014. He has also captain/coached in major football leagues in regional Victoria. In particular, Travis's time spent in amateur football has given him a great understanding of the nature of amateur clubs and their unique environment and culture.
In recent times Travis has been working in professional sport as Head of Strength and Conditioning and Performance Dietitian at two NRL clubs, as well as the Gold Coast Suns.
Travis is passionate about coaching, and his energetic and enthusiastic approach, along with his communication style, will be a great fit at Fitzroy.
He is excited and eager to coach a well organised, aspirational club like Fitzroy, and help the club thrive to be the best we can be. And we are excited to have him!

Great coach. Will be fit.

Quite a few from Old Scotch moving clubs in the VFL with Sam Grant and Hugo Bromell been announced as signings for Coburg for 2024. Heard a few more from the Cardinals may be joining them there...

Yes, Mirra is a big loss, as is Lachie Ferguson. Both lads played very well in the finals and were our best two on grand final day, plus they kicked 10 of our 19 goals.

Having said that, we have a good crop of young kids coming through that can help stamp their mark on the senior side as well.
