I think both need some good AFL level games. So more than happy to give them a quarter or half and rest one each of Danniher/Hipwood and Andrews/Adams/Gardiner for the second half
Don’t think Hipwood will be playing somehow.

be close to our round 1 side. Not sure Zorko make it back and Hippy missing for months
Prior or Dev I would of liked a run instead of Payne or Fullarton.
I thought Fort looked good last week.. So not sure about the extra 2 talls.

Kiddy/Madden and Answerth playing off for a spot
you assume Mitch, J Berry and Ah Chee and maybe Answerth for a wing spot
It’s a 26 man team, so there’s 4 players there missing out on round 1. So we’ve selected two extra talls and two extra smalls.

Interesting to see that Melbourne tonight have named 26 but are only playing 22, as a proper dress rehearsal for Round 1.

I'm inclined to think we have more to gain (particularly against strong opposition) playing our full 26 and seeing what works.

depends I felt the blues structure fell away second half with the players reseted.
Although they at a different stage then us. Do a lot of confidence for the blues tonight's win.
A loss against the dogs while trying a few players not be the end of the world.

So need this game which is totally trivial and escapist from all the heavy stuff happening in our suburb, out towns and the whole bloody world. Going to tell and cheer and even scream myself stupid. Well, stupider.

WH-WHOOO GO LIONS! YA GOT THIS.

I think with Fullerton and Payne they may want to see how their preseason experiment is going (Fulkerton back, Payne fwd), see if there is any point persisting. If it's not working Payne and Fullerton could play their more traditional roles. Payne giving Andrews, Gardiner or Adams an early shower and Fullerton in that 2nd or 3rd tall fwd role with one if Big O or Fort having a spell or giving Joe or Dan a rest. I'd rather see Fullerton just play as a fwd, give up on the 2nd ruck bit, just see how he goes as a pure fwd. If Joe or Dan go down injured before Hippy gets back he is probably better placed to fill in.

Kiddy playing the 7th back building cohesion. Madden n Sharp rotating in the wing spot pushing Robbo, resting Clugg. Madden off hb as well if Richy gets a spell. Ah Chee playing sm/med fwd, that's where he's best. And Berry thru the midfield.

A good squad for this game, all bases covered, some trialing, some structure building. Dev n Prior unlucky but I think the lions are already sure of what they offer and where they fit in. It will be injuries that will get them in the 22. Payne n Fullerton (barring unjuries), Sharp n Madden most likely to drop out to leave our rnd 1 best 22. Then Ah Chee out for Zorks if he comes up. Sub likely to come from Ah Chee (if out for Zorks), Madden, Dev n Prior.

4 extra relatively young and inexperienced players in this game which brings the averages down a bit but it makes a bit of a difference without Zorko and Birchall in the team for both age and experience.

remember... it i still just a practice game. Extended benches and rotating players out to give some guys a go. Lots to gain from this game without even watching the score board. Fullerton and Payne in seems to be we want to give them some good competitive minutes. I'm sure at this stage of the season the players are on set playing time limits as their loads increase.

Be interesting who does potentially push Robbo out. I like Ah Chee i just don't know where he fits in best. Very dangerous in the forward line and i would try to get him in there.

I like the idea of Madden getting a go on the wing, for that closing speed alone. COuld be an upgrade on Robbo in terms of avoiding those opposition quick transitions.

Will be an interesting watch, particularly in terms of players coming back from injury or entering their second year at the Lions. Still not convinced on Madden. Not sure what he brings apart from speed. Still in a learning phase for sure and young but coming from a long way back and the skills still need significant work from the little I have seen of him. So if he lights up Marvel tonight you can thank me.

Only Bruce missing from their best 22 and just Zorko and Hipwood from ours. Pre-season or not should be a competitive hit out.
Also missing O'Brien (we generally see our recruits as instant best 22, so assume he'd be in for Schache or Cordy). Libba is also out due to Covid protocols. Both sides still looking to have very competitive teams

Ugh, the WatchAFL for people overseas is completely useless. Tells me to subscribe on the main page...but doesnt have anything there to actually subscribe with.
What's wrong with it? One click away all the plans. Mind I subscribe through the club so I've not really dealt with that side of things
