Some Telstra tracker stats from the AFL app:

- Brisbane (285 km) covered 28 km more than Port (257 km) despite Port having four of the five top distances covered on the ground

- Brisbane had around four of the five top individual sprint numbers - Cameron (23), McCarthy (23), Robertson (18), Bailey (18)

- Fletcher led the game for defensive work rate, Robertson was third and McCluggage fifth

Ports Nuclear bomb theme didn't go to plan.

Turned out their nuclear bomb program was that of North Korea, just a big bluff

That’s where Robertson stood out to me. He didn’t have a big impact possession wise but he was involved in a lot of play defensively and is excellent at being in the way of the opposition at crucial times. Excellent role player IMO.

Biggest travesty for us all year to be honest
Yeah, that is a real shame. Great song. I still think Suitcase has missed a trick by not using "Number of the Beast" as his song. Imagine the energy of that chorus blazing out after a goal.

SIX . . . .SIX SIX . . . THE NUMBER OF THE BEAST!!

Way to bring the mood down…

I’m perfectly happy with what Joe has brought this season. He’s a backup ruckman, and i’m good with him not going full tilt when he’s in the ruck. Last thing we need is Joe getting injured jumping into or being jumped on by the opposition ruckman. Call it self preservation for bigger moments.
Remember when Brennan used to ruck, get injured and miss most os a season.

Happened two years in a row IIRC.

Bear dancer should acknowledge that Joe was a timid ruck last year when he came back early with an injured shoulder but is SO much better this year.

I know of one.
Someone who was involved in my junior club, and was involved at the Perth Demons development squads, openly said that Buddy Franklin wouldn’t make it and wasn’t as good as everyone thought he was.
A mate of mine played on Greg Williams in Bendigo, kicked five goals on him and said Williams was a dud.

I used to anonymously send him Greg Williams newspaper cuttings from the Sunday papers with Williams getting three votes.

My memory could be hazy but I reckon Brennan did a couple of quad injuries that were listed as 2-3 weeks that then stretched out to 8+ weeks injuries.

I am not sure if it has already been mentioned, but I was disappointed in Montagna's comments on First Crack saying we have been "gifted" the perfect opportunity to win a flag.

Our boys haven't been gifted anything this year. Hard work and persistence has gotten them to where they and will take them further if they keep it going.

IMO "gifted" would be only leaving your home state 6 times for the entire home and away season and finals campaign....cough cough Collingwood!
That's a bloody gift.

Massive, massive game from the Big O I thought. I have been very critical of him and the way he approaches his tap rucking, but that was the best I have ever seen him play. Our mids also got aggressive on the back of it, and we scored heavily from center bounce and we're getting our of the front of center clearances consistently. Have barely seen us do that all year.

Midfield wise Clugg has absolutely stood up the past few weeks, was devastated when the commentators were trying to say he was in the rooms and not coming back, but then he dominated. As mentioned Rayner also moving extremely well in the first half and pretty much tore it apart. Good signs if those guys can step up to support Neale / Dunkley, makes the midfield look deep all of a sudden.

Considering the average nature of all the other finals games, there has been very little talk of us demolishing the 3rd seed. Not surprising when there's Collingwoods and Carlton wins to talk about, let's just keep flying under the radar then and bring the cup home.

Considering the other favourite to make the GF (Pies) are also not leaving their state during the entire finals series I presume that he also had a crack at their 'gift' ... which would go for one week longer than ours!

nah

Also Collingwood could play 3 games at the MCG, while the Lions could play 2 games at the GABBA and 1 game at the MCG. Where's the gift there?

Montagna is frustrating as he is one of the better commentators (yes, I know the bar is low) but makes ridiculous statements like this.

Forgot to mention the spoiling fists of Andrews vs Payne.

Andrews appears to have mastered the punch where the ball flies out to the D50 arc for a throw in. It's making the angle so narrow and it is a low percentage kick to curl one through. I think it was Q3 or Q4 where the ball literally flew off Andrews fist like a late cut cricket shot to the left side of the goal posts.

I've noticed Payne double fists straight down the middle which opens up 100s of possibilities in terms of who takes possession and what'll happen next. I hope this gets reviewed with Payne so the spoils go to the pocket boundary where you need some level of skill to kick a goal.

This was our first final that felt like a normal H&A match against a good opposition. There was no panic and just guys playing their role.

Definitely did. It was pretty common back then across multiple players - our strength and conditioning team was sheer trash.

If he can get a double fist to the ball, he should be marking it.
