A few posters wanted more players or a whole team box added to the poll.
Someone even mentioned Fagan should be added.

I think Hinkley helped our cause also with his sub call, so maybe add him too.
Hinkley made a "tactical sub" move that backfired big time.

Byrne-Jones just kicked a goal and was immediately subbed off in the 3rd for Boak. Not injury related so a tactical sub.
Within 1-2 minutes they lost Williams with a hamstring and McKenzie hobbled off with a leg injury throwing his mouth guard on the ground.
Surprisingly McKenzie later returned but clearly hampered.
In the last he took one mark then kicked the ball. Added 1 handball so just occupying space really.

What’s weird? How’s Joe tracking? I not sure anyone has been more wrong about a player.
i've always said he's brilliant and does brilliant things.

But his worst is terrible. His rucking is futile. His non competing in the ruck led directly to one of Ports early goals. His non marking up of his opponent at a kick in led to another Port goal.

The thing is he's got Buddy level brilliance combined with a level of selfishness and incompetence that's astounding.

Sure you can focus on the brilliance side of the ledger but can you imagine if we had a Joe with THAT level of brilliance combined with the level of commitment, team focus and sheer grunt of, say Callum Ah Chee or Mitch robbo or Martin Pike . That would a Jon Brown level footballer. And all those things that joe lacks are purely attitude, desire and drive. He's got everything to be one of the all time greats at our club but it's just his attitude that lets him down.

For me, I'm disappointed that we're not going to see another Brown or a Daryl White or a Simon Black in Joe.......instead he'll only ever be a Warwick Capper.

Hippy had a chase down tackle where he basically ran from the forward 50 to close to the defensive 50 to make a tackle and it really exemplified our focus on team defence this year.

I’m honestly not 100% sure if I dreamed it.

It scared me. I’ve never seen an eel move so fast

Way to bring the mood down…

I’m perfectly happy with what Joe has brought this season. He’s a backup ruckman, and i’m good with him not going full tilt when he’s in the ruck. Last thing we need is Joe getting injured jumping into or being jumped on by the opposition ruckman. Call it self preservation for bigger moments.

I think last night should put an end to X Duursma discussion. Not AFL standard. Worst on ground for mine. I would much prefer our reserves options, Prior, Sharp, Brain...

Hippy has a cranky pants game face - as long as he is scowling, he's on. Looks like my teenager.

After that running forward mark that was called play on - bit messy - we got to see his smile.

Changes his entire face. Hope to see that at the end of the granny.

I think everyone appreciates the hardworking role players like Ah Chee and Lester but Joe is a star and these are the types that win finals and Grand Finals.

If I could be bothered I would go through your posts and rip this to shreds. This player you apparently always said was ‘brilliant’ you wanted out of the team and slagged him off since he got here. You want a 6 foot 6 full forward to play like Pike or Achee 😂 it’s bad enough you were so wrong it’s even worse you can’t admit it and keep trying to justify your stance. I not going on with this if you cant see how ridiculous and clueless your take on Joe is I not trying to convince you, bloke is a star.

You judge him so unfairly friend.

Name 1 200cm forward in the comp that plays like the players you describe.

Eric is pure majesty.

I think people miss it because of his wiry build, but he’s amazingly competitive and often really crafty in open field contests. He’s not a traditional key forward but I love that we have him.

You clearly see what you want to see with Joe. He has had a fantastic year and is absolutely focussed. He is not a robot he is our Joe who you for some reason have a dislike of. He should have been an AA this year. He is not selfish, He is totally committed and he is our Joe.

Listening to the post match gurus it's impossible for Joe to get a wrap . One said 'at last' Daniher has stood up in a big game. This idiot obviously hasn't watched us all year where he's stood up in big moments in big games nearly every time.

Fwiiw for our structure I think he's our most important player if we're to win a flag. Before getting on to what he does.
On the game day thread I said IMO he is a top 15 player in the AFL. He’s obviously an elite forward and prone to brain farts but his work as a 4th mid while in the ruck, how clean he is when the ball is on the ground, and his field kicking make him truely elite.

What’s weird? How’s Joe tracking? I not sure anyone has been more wrong about a player.
I know of one.
Someone who was involved in my junior club, and was involved at the Perth Demons development squads, openly said that Buddy Franklin wouldn’t make it and wasn’t as good as everyone thought he was.

I thought O was good. Looked like he was given directive to clear it himself, taking away those 50/50 ground balls that their mids could compete for.
Was manhandled all night.
Overall I agree, especially as the game wore on. He still does some howlers with his clearances though. If I was a coach I don‘t think there is much that would make me happier/prouder than watching our ruckman on all 4 desperate to win a ground ball, fighting and scrapping until he got it to one of our mids.

Statement made. Great win. At HT I was looking at the stats and we didn't have a lot of big possession numbers. So to be 3 goals up was a good sign. Also first first half we got absolutely done over by the umpires. Especially no 22. He made it his mission to find free kicks for Port.

Second half we went up another few gears and they couldn't go with us and copped injuries. For me Port's no 1 weakness for sometime has been their back line. Allir Allir has helped but overall they struggle when playing tall strong forwards. It's why the Crows get them every time. So on that note it was great to see Daniher dine out. Hippy played a lot better than his 1 goal suggested. Loved how he got down the ground and impacted.

Rayners best game for the club. That's what we drafted him for. No reason why he can't play like that most weeks. Fletcher was so good for someone so young. Sign him for 6 years now !

Best on ground Hugh McCluggage - was sublime. Special mention for me to Starcevich who had a great game and kept Rioli to very few touches.

Go the mighty Lions. Bring on Melbourne or Carlton.
