Nah mate ....trying to pick sides this far out, just causes you to be a laughing stock .....most just pencil names in based on 2024 form

We simply do not know who will have a breakout summer, or will have a Pedlar type PS

Will Bond improve ? .....do we need a small DEF, for the ever-increasing number of small fwds chased by AFL teams .....Michallaney can do it, but IMO is not the answer

Does Tex get to the starting line R1 ? .....where does Curtin play, and for that matter, where does Dawson play ? .....just too many ????
Gutsy Mutineer .....the old fence sitting position huh

Didn't you just accuse Bicks of fence sitting.

Happy to say who should be in the team is easy when you won't name your best team.

I think my comments were on a different matter ....selecting a starting R1 team, by position, is different to an individual player opinion on his prospects for the upcoming season

But that's just my take

You were asked on what your best 22 is, surely you have your own thoughts on that and since when have you worried about how you option looks?

Lol, you accused Bicks of fence sitting, then did exactly the same thing with your next post & now in denial.

At least Bicks doesn't deny he is a fence sitter.

Haven't read before this page, but it's mainly just just blokes wanking on each other.
Get over it lads. It's keyboard warrior stuff with blokes you've never met. Pointless.

OK so went back a page.....
I think it will be players like Dowling, Taylor and Bond who get squeezed out of the 22 by the new recruits rather than Smith/Murphy/Laird.

Internally we would have blamed inexperience for missing the finals in 2024. Now we have a slightly more mature list so we'll start with our oldest available team, apart from maybe Chayce Jones out and Draper + Curtin in.

I'm interested to see what we do with our four tall defenders Murray, Keane, Butts, Worrell. Playing them all would make for a terrible structure but individually all would be regarded as good enough to make our best 22.

Also I hope that if Smith & Murphy are still around the team that we use them in travelling emergency / sub roles that we've previously reserved for young players who are in desperate need of game time.

Maybe Nicks will do a Blight and play utility type players both forward and back as the need arises.......but that might be a bit too smart for Nicksy.

Finally we’re moving past the Gallucci/Jones/McHenry/Rowe era of “well, he’s the best available right now…”

I hope.

I know there’s still a few to crowbar out of the first 22, but I can’t wait to see the new traded-in and drafted players

Thank Christ we had the good sense to play a crap year and drop so far we were guaranteed a top level mid. About time.
Interesting point about finishing low enough to get a decent draft pick. Dermott Brereton, mid season, mentioned that he was worried about Hawthorn doing too well because they needed one more good draft. Last seasons poor result may be a blessing in disguise.

Then Hawks proceeded to get in 2 quality free agents to fix their key defensive issues.

They brought in 2 handy FAs

What little faith I have left I’m banking on Murphy and Smith out. The coaches showed with Murphy’s poor B&F polling what they think.

Now we have ANB, Peatling and Draper who could all play his role, there is nothing that justifies his selection.

Cummings and Mileras return spells Curtins for Smith.

Smith was done regardless of anyone coming back. Hardly got a game 2nd half of the year. They gave him an extra year for his super in the sanfl.

Not sure if it’s an opinion that will be widely shared but in terms of being a pure lockdown defender on the opposition’s best small forward then I think Bond is actually superior to Michalanney. Max is clearly more flexible (covers smalls and mids), more creative in attack and an emerging leader but at that specific role I think Bond is excellent.

Given the way the game is going with small ball forward lines (like Hawks) I think he’s a very useful piece of the puzzle and I’d be picking him and pushing Max up the ground a bit.

FB: Worrell - Keane - Bond
HB: Michalanney - Murray - Hinge
C: Cumming - Soligo - Curtin
FOLL: O’Brien - Dawson - Rankine
HF: Rachele - Fogarty - Alex Neal-Bullen
FF: Thilthorpe - Walker - Keays
INT: Taylor - Peatling - Crouch - Nankervis
SUB: Pedlar
That's our best team 👌

The cyncic in me wonders how the coaches will choose to make us worse this time but I'm toying with a new optimistic approach in 2025

So I can't wait to see this team roll out in Rnd 1 🙌

Can’t see Sholl missing out round 1 after season he just had unless wheels fall off in pre season

If his form dips though plenty of guys to take his place

Edit Draper likely plays if he’s fit

Otherwise spot on , Taylor, Pedlar and Jones our likely sub options

Like this team👍 Draper my only inclusion at the expense of Taylor or Nankervis …. depth is certainly improving

I agree but the playing group looks good. More depth. Bond to me is a 23 + player, not best 22.
Maybe Laird moves back there.
