So how does Foote get picked over Laidler? As much as we complain about Laidler he has Foote beaten in every aspect

Gee I'm not sure anyone really complains about Laidler. He's a flawed medium backman who gives is all whenever he plays and makes it very difficult to drop him.
But it wasn't a case of him or Foote on Friday night.
Foote......what to do.
I try to see the good and the potential in most players but I just can't see it in Foote. Sure he tries hard, is courageous etc but I just don't think he has sufficient skills at the level. His ball handling isn't clean enough. His kicking isn't straight enough. Etc etc.
And he has a manbun. FFS!! I'm serious about this. Every mistake is made 50% worse when a manbun is involved. It just screams at me warped priorities. When I was a kid my coach used to scream at us to clean our boots and pull up our socks. "Even if you can't play the game at least look like you can play the game!"
And my dad when I wanted a pair of white boots. "You wear white boots you'd better make damn sure you play well every game!"
Foote. At the very least. Get a ****ing haircut!!
I think we'll see Dawson this week. There'd want to be a bloody good reason why not. Can't see Kennedy coming up. If Lloyd and Reid are kicking they'll play.

Couldn't have been worse than Foote!
Fact is Laidler has been a lot better in the NEAFL.
Dawson should have been in the emergencies that's where the problem came from though.

He's no slower than Foote, but no I'd run Laidler off of our back flank. Lloyd who currently plays as a rebound defender got injured, I'd replace him with a rebounding defender. Laidler isn't as dynamic going back but he's a lot better in the air which is where we got murdered.

Comfortably win the next 3? Mate we were 0-6 a while ago, nothing is comfortable in this years comp, we are no place for resting. Plus Hayward just came back into the seniors and I dont understand why you would rest Melican or anyone who isnt injured.

Thing I don't get is the clever tips back behind him - to the utter surprise of every bloody Swan at the contest!
Don't they have set play calls where he calls that's where the tip is going??? He just randomly puts it there in hope??? Sure you can call it and it might not happen, but start off with a plan for gawds sake! It seemed on the weekend (and late last year) he was putting them there regularly and the opposition were taking about 70% of them and marching downfield unopposed.

And while I get what you're old coach and dad used to say, that really was a fair while ago. What did you think of all the beards a year or two ago? And the tight shorts of the seventies and eighties?

Simple, we won't win the Premiership with a crocked team struggling to get up for each game. We WILL win it if we go in with fresh players.
Hanners can't get much past a jog atm - Kennedy has a hammy strain - there is NO WAY he will be risked. Melican is close to a rookie - body needs a rest he got abused on the weekend. Reid is simply a much better player than Hayward (and I really like Hayward - relaxed set shot, accurate).
Carlton have packed it in for the year again. Win
Tag Sloan, beat Adelaide, who are simply not worthy of top of the ladder spot. Win
If we can't beat Freo at home, there is literally no point living. Win

When Malceski and Shaw were wearing beards they were playing well. I didn't like the beards, but if you're getting a kick, well ok.
When the Melbourne players were wearing beards I thought it was a bloody insult to their coach, to their staff, and to their members.
With the tight shorts, that wasn't a fashion statement. It was considered the right gear to play the best footy. When Capper wore a couple of sizes too small, again, I didn't like it but as long as he was taking marks and kicking goals....ie: performing on the field, it was tolerable. In short, if you're going to draw attention to yourself, you'd better be playing well when the attention is on you. If you're not playing well, then don't draw attention to yourself.

If he's fit and returns to that form....we'd all love it. Well most of us would. There'd still be a couple of haters here.

Nah, not a beard fan, or the tight shorts fan either... but I do have a soft spot for the man-bun!
But I do agree... If you are not playing well, do nothing to draw attention to yourself!
