Re: Menzel, what was CC like in the SANFL? Was he tearing it up every week? Wondering if Menzel may play better on the big stage
I understand he is young and his ceiling may be high but the record doesn't make me want to back him in without a BIG game in the SANFL.

Menzel at Carlton

McDermott was a former player, Captain and coached. What do you think of him?

Just because they have played and coached doesn't actually mean their opinions are any good. Otherwise any past player should automatically be a great coach, just like Voss, Hird and Buckley.

Bicks wanted DMack back for the finals last year just because he was a senior player, how did that work out?

Bickley also wanted Atkins dropped a month ago and replaced by Hendo.

I rest my case.

There are a few posters who seem to forget that Mackay was dropped last year and also finished about 25th in the b&f based on votes per game. The view that he's been ordinary is much more aligned with the coaches than those with their Mackay coloured glasses on that still think he's a pacey outside gun with elite foot skills.

I just wish Riley Knight hadn't got hurt at exactly the wrong time. I'd have loved to have seen him get the Laird gig. He might not have much experience playing defence, but it's not like Henderson's ever been confused with someone who knows how to defend. Knight has shown far more composure with ball in hand than Henderson ever looks likely to. I really hope Doedee is on the fast track to being the Jason Torney replacement we've never had.

For mine, Milera for Mackay, and vB for Henderson.

And the year before.

It's been well acknowledged that DMack has been playing more of an inside role this year as he's been replaced on the outside.

It's also been well acknowledged our midfield has struggled with clearances and contested possessions which has also hurt our defence by conceding so many inside 50s.

Well one would assume then that DMacks contested ball and clearances numbers must be up to warrant his place in there and the praise for having a good year.

So I will leave these stats out there for others to discuss:

14 clearances, average 2
3 centre clearances, average 0.4
39 contested possessions, average 5.6

Yeah theyre horrible numbers. Next.

Id like to see a bit more speed in the backline this week.

Out : Cheney (omit no matchup) McKay (inj)
In: menzel Milera

Menzel might not have the biggest tank, or get the most stats in the SANFL, but think he'll lift in an AFL setting. Just has a touch of class.

Would give Smith the run with job on Danger.
Hendo to play 7th man defender / link man in defence.

Only guy who could keep up with Patty is Charlie.

It's pretty funny that one if his fans is still grasping at the, "but who will provide his outside run, we have no one else" line. Seriously, do his fans even watch the game.

Just reporting what has been thrown around and was also on one of the local radio stations here but probably just looking for a story.

Let everyone know that a majority of the Crows team have a bad flu could be up to 10 guys bearly able to run out the race let alone the game. Will be a real pushover. Can probably rest a few guys this weekend with no worries. Call it in to the local papers and radio stations. :(

We need to weed out the under peformers or average players.
We are starting to.

Wright: even though we turned him into an average player
VB: dropped and will be last year
DMack: I'm putting it out there that if we have a decent rest of the season and with limited injuries he will struggle to get back in
Hendo: gone at the end of the year I'm guessing

That leaves decent senior players, quality mid aged players and promising youth in our best 22.

Dangerfield: "Geelong is similar to Adelaide. It is a one-team town; everyone loves their footy and they all love their local team."

What...? Are Port irrelevant or something?

Beautiful :)

It's true though adelaide have the crows, Port Adelaide have there own team they are different cities.

Oh, and Lowden. The rest are 23 or under so let's stop wasting time with dmac, vb, Henderson like and give CEY, Grigg, Menzel an equivalent run at it for 10 weeks then we know if they can cut it or not. If they can't lets reload with some draft picks

Can't hack Geelong. They keep building every year just when you think they're going to fall. Good on them though. Nervous as hell about this game. I hope the Boys come out breathing fire and just be ruthless for 120mins. Huuuuuuge game this

We should have our top 12 or 13 players as experienced and the rest up and coming young guns. If your 18 -22 players are >27, they need to go

Hey guys there is a rumor floating around that Walker has a very serious foot injury which has the potential to force him out of the game indefinitely or even possibly into retirement ala Matthew Egan if it gets worse, whats the word on your side of the border as I think its pretty clear he is carrying something, why would they continue playing him if thats the case? Would hate to see another champion cut down too early.

He is going to play Friday and then retire Monday.

Cheney needs to be next.

Yep just keep going backwards. I understand this thinking but its Brisbane thinking , its Richmond thinking. We have to back what we have. Give guys the run for a while but I wouldn't just yet. There may be some games coming up that we can mix and match

You've bought into that? Let's see how they go away from Victoria against a decent opposition, has only happened once so far and they lost.

Rd 1 - beat injury hit Hawks in a match Geelong built up as their grand final
Rd 2 - lost to the Giants who look a better outfit
Rd 3 - smashed Brisbane at home, wow.
Rd 4 - only just got over the line against the 'Dons in the worst match of the season
Rd 5 - Beat the Power here, Power looked a rabble
Rd 6 - smashed WC at home.
