Adelaide v Fremantle

9 Joshua Rachele (ADEL)
8 Andrew Brayshaw (FRE)
5 Ben Keays (ADEL)
3 Jordan Clark (FRE)
2 Rory Lobb (FRE)
2 James Rowe (ADEL)
1 Sam Switkowski (FRE)

Milera looked very nervous in the first half for mine, and who could blame him, it's been a while.

He looked more settled in the second half and will benefit immensely from getting through the game.

He needs to play if he's fit.
I thought the same, he'll be better for the run. But that first half he was clearly playing through cobwebs.

I'd predict by round 3 he'll be back to himself, and by halfway through the season he might start to hit top form again. Anything before that would be bonus

So

5: Rachele/Brayshaw
4: Keays/Rachele
3: Brayshaw/Clark
2: Rowe/Lobb
1: Switkowski/Keays

Something like that?

Didn't see it from Lobb personally. Thought he had opportunities to be in the best, but was one of the players that blundered them consistently.

The rest is pretty fair

What is back to himself ? He was a flash in the pan for yrs before his injuries, and soft as butter.
He was not an elite player..

Ned is a deadset joke of a first round pick.
He is small and has rubbish skills..

Soligo plays ahead of half the other donkeys getting a game, he can actually play.
He brings others into the game and holds his own around the footy.. excellent signs.

Sholl would've likely got himself a 30 touch game if he played 4 quarters, he was everywhere in the 2nd half.

Thought he earned himself a starting spot on the ground in week 2. I hope he can lock into some nice form early and get a few people off his back for a while.

It was actually quite amusing how fast and hard folks jumped off the Lachie Sholl train last year. Felt like he went from a 2 time rising star / best kick in the team / Agrade wingman of the next decade. To the second coming of Rory Atkins and delist material in the span of a month.

But then again this is the Adelaide Crows Big Footy site. Sticking with young outside mid's has never really been our Jam.

I like Sholl but his form in the second half of last year was garbage. It's not jumping off the train. It's just pointing out facts.

If one of them does get it.. the other 3 have crowded the area.. now they obviously arent going to get tackled by their team mates.. but their team mates, and their team mates opponents are all now surrounding them giveing them few avenues to exit the contested area with the ball and often the only option is a quick dump kick..

It happens so often.
2005 - 2010 Neil Craig had the same issue - no surprise VB is the centre coach of this

To be fair its been a Crows issue for a while - we hold the inner ring while our opponents wait for us to fumble or panic and get the reward for waiting

(One exception was Himmelberg who looks constantly gassed)
I think the big guys will struggle (initially) with the training regime.

I also think there will be games we struggle due to Burgess trying to ramp things up

This can happen with young players though?
I get that. What I'm saying is people are allowed to make observations and just because you point out that a guy is down on form, doesn't mean you hate that player. It's especially annoying when the player in question gets dropped from the side and people are still giving you the side eye for being "negative".

If only he could kick goals.

I know mate, I noticed it during the game. I lost count of how many times they moved it forward cleanly out of a contest under no pressure at all. Allowed them to deliver the ball to their forwards with accuracy. Our defenders did a good job under those circumstances. Could have been a real blood bath.
One of the main issues (and has been the case for years) is that our players get sucked into the contest, and if the ball spills out, the opposition have 4 players free that can run away with it

Sandoball. Leave your man to rush the the ball carrier, oppo player flicks out handball, Crows get cut up on the outside.

You have pointed out the obvious but let's also consider the reasons why this was the case

The talent is there, eliminate those reasons for the drop off and the form shoukd rise again

I thought Schol was a key part of our fight back yesterday

Yep I have found my new whipping boy and it's Ned.
Pick 16 - as a forward averages 1 goal every 2 games - has only kicked 11 goals in total over his career. Yes he harangues and harasses but looks like we may have blown that pick - interestingly spends little to no time as a midfielder. He and Jones may have been poor picks I would guess.

Mind you he did do ok playing the majority of the game as a Zombie because surely he was killed in the first when Fog destroyed the pack so hats off to him for that.
