Gold coast have atleast 3 bonfide guns in Omeara Ablett and bennell already give them a couple years plus gaz should still be producing along with martins 2nd year 5 years in the system for prestia, Swallow and bennell **** me

Embarrassing to see Richmond comparing their midfield to Sydney's. The Swans have an insane midfield.
It's pretty fair assessment in my eyes they have some real talent there in saying that they should with the amount of low draft picks. Try building our midfield with the picks that we have had.

Yes but what have they actually achieved? The Swans have the runs on the board.

I think Sydney's midfield was pretty awesome in the home and away and finals last season.

Yeah they were pretty good. It's really what Sydney's midfield does without the footy that makes them good, offensively they are ok, but defensively they are the best in the comp. Richmond are the opposite, one of the best midfields with the footy but one of the worst without it.

1. Deledio
2. Cotchin
3. Martin
4. Conca
5. Shane Edwards
6. Ellis
7. Vlastuin
8. Foley

+ Houli, Grigg, Jackson, Tuck, Newman, Knights, White, Arnot etc.

Year 2047:

1. Tasmania
2. Auckland
3. Sydney (with their 10% salary bonus)
4. Melbourne (finally their recruiting pays off after 35 years of duds)
5. Essendon (but doubts on their supplement program under the tutelage of jnr hird at the realm)
6. Geelong (their midfield is just always good)
7. Carlton (doesnt matter still lacking 2 key forwards)
8. Collingwood (Swan jnr looks overweight, heavily tattooed and doesnt get along with the new coach)

Without trying to be to disrespectful but that midfield looks fairly weak.

Weak now perhaps, but it's the future we're talking about. Gibbs is getting there. Murphy is a gun. Yarran could genuinely be anything as a midfielder. Robbo is a hard nut, but doesn't do enough with the pill, Menzel is super talented and Nick Graham looked every bit an AFL midfielder during preseason intras prior to injury. It looks weak just because of the names in the present tense. Some midfields look strong just because of names in the present tense but won't be as good as their names suggest in the future. That's what I love about footy, that we all just have to sit back and enjoy the ride into the untold future.

Sydney's mids struggled to get a kick in their last game against Richmond. Kennedy topped their possesion count on 21.

To be fair to the entire Sydney side, they all struggle to get a kick against Richmond at the G.
That being said, I personally would still (obviously) take our current midfield & depth over yours.

Also, I think Player X >/=/< Player Y is possibly the most pointless exercise ever. It's so easy to manipulate it so that the stronger names come up against the weaker etc. Both teams should just enjoy what they're building, who cares what other people think.

Future midfield: Hawthorn
Anderson
Hallahan
Bruest
Hill
Plus the mids we draft in 13, 14, 15, 16, who, I am reliably led to believe will be the best of their respective drafts, not only that, they will compliment each other seamlessly. The young mid we get in 2015 in particular looks to ge one of the goat. Future looks bright.

I think Sydney and Richmond are close at the top end but Sydney will have a lot more depth:

Cotchin > Kennedy (only just)
Jack = Deledio
Hannebery = Martin
Mitchell = Vlastiun
Parker = Ellis
Bird = Grigg
Jetta > Conca
Rohan = ?
Lamb = ?
McGlynn = ?

I forgot a few names on the first attempt.

Good effort - I'd add Shane Edwards to our list but would say your midfield probably beats ours (just runs a bit deeper).

Embarrassing to see Richmond comparing their midfield to Sydney's. The Swans have an insane midfield.

The comparison was actually brought up by a Sydney poster but agreed, they have an insane midfield.

I think its plainly obvious from Bigfooty that... Geelong were screwed, Sydney is currently screwed, and Hawthorn is about to be screwed.

I'm biased but i'm happy with the look of this going forward...

Josh Kennedy
Kieren Jack
Luke Parker
Lewis Jetta
Dan Hannebery
Gary Rohan
Tom Mitchell
Jed Lamb

That is an outstanding midfield with a crazy combination of hard bodies and pace (Jack and Hanneberry in particular).

That midfield is clealry the top echelon already - let alone with a few more years of maturity. Though it is a bit premature on Lamb and Rohan

Heard that young mid is dominating the year 10 A's team. Will probably look to trade at some point for the first round pick to get that kid that just kicked three goals in the Year 7 A's despite being bottom aged.

Anyone who doesn't have Gold Coast at the top of their list has rocks in their head IMO

Definately going to be very hard to top GC in terms of pure talent in the midfield for a fair period to come!

On a personal note - happy with the way our midfield is progressing at Windy Hill - fair amount of potential there!
