I think its plainly obvious from Bigfooty that... Geelong were screwed, Sydney is currently screwed, and Hawthorn is about to be screwed.

I'm biased but i'm happy with the look of this going forward...

Josh Kennedy trade for pick 30 something
Kieren Jack Rookie pick
Luke Parker Pick 40
Lewis Jetta Pick 14
Dan Hannebery Pick 30
Gary Rohan Pick 6
Tom Mitchell Pick 21 (F/S)
Jed Lamb Pick 22

While a few are comparing our midfield with Richmonds (which I rate), we have to remember that three of Richmonds mids are top 3 picks, our best is Rohan at pick 6 and he has not played in more than a year and isn't even really a midfielder, we've done quite well with what we've had.

Rank in order of top 10 the best midfields in a few years.

I tried to exclude anyone over 29 years old as they will not be as relevant in 2-4 years.

Hawthorn:
(Bruest, Hill , Lewis, Savage, Shiels, Puopolo, Smith)

+Riloi, Anderson, Roughead, Whitecross

Also, its a bit rich to think that a player wont be relevant when they're 31-33.
There's loads of quality players in that age category.

GC, Richmond and Sydney should have good midfields. Outside that, who the **** knows? 5 years worth of drafting, development and trading to consider.

I wouldn't

33 - Goodes, J Bolton
32 - OKeefe
31 - Shaw
30 - Mattner
29 - Pyke
28 - Malceski, McVeigh

Was this in reply to me? I'm not even sure how to respond given I don't want this to turn into a Richmond V Sydney midfield shitfight as I rate Richmond highly. However there is a lot wrong with your post and I'm not content with just letting it slide.
Goodes - barely influential this year, injured. Injured for parts of last year too.
Bolton - playing predominantly forward this year.
Shaw - injured the majority of the year.
Mattner - Retired, barely played this year.
Malceski - Half-Back flanker. Same can be said for McVeigh ATM. Either still have a few years left too, will be handy experience.
Pyke - Will be the hardest to cover from that list. That being said, age means nothing either. Form > Age.

So I don't see the relevancy of what you have posted.

On topic, GC will be insane. I love watching Gablett.

You have done extremely well...but the debate isn't about who has the best midfield at bargain basement prices!

But for port in 4 years Gray will be 29 and probably will be a gun
Statement of the year right there ladies and gentlemen.
Big statement yes but hardly statement of the year before he did his ACL last he was known as Ports best player.
Well you've come along way since then I could have made your best players two years ago
Bump. Not 4 years but even so... Told you so. Equal second in the AFLCA votes

Why do you have Picken in ours...?

Ours would be something like: Griffen, Liberatore, Wallis, Macrae, Hrovat, Smith, Stevens, Dahlhaus

Griff, Libba, Hrovat, Macrae, Dahl, Bontempelli, Stringer, Smith, Wallis.

GC - Ablett, Presia, o'Meara, Swallow, Bennell, Martin

Thats just criminal

Port - Wingard, Wines, Boak, Hartlett, Gray, Broadbent (underrated)

Well done to Port for buidling that midfield in the draft climate of the last few years

GWS - Treloar, Kelly, Shiels, Ward, Smith, Whitfield

Those will be the top 3 for a few years for mine.

Fixed, missed two

they have Toumpas, Trengrove, Viney, plus this years second draft pick midfielder (Aish). then you have M.Jones, Blease, N.Jones, Evans, Magner, Sylvia. Plus if they trade right and get free agents then cant see why they cant have the best.

and as for Port there is no reasn why they cant be the 3rd best in the comp in a few years time
Great foresight

Hawthorn could have any number of different midfielders in a season or two's time.

There is absolutely no way that Mitchell, Hodge, Burgoyne and Sewell will retire with no one coming in to replace them.

The "buddy money" will come in handy.

Yes now
N.Jones, B.Vince, D.Tyson, J.Viney, M.Jones, J.Grimes, J.Trengove, C.Salam, J.Toumpas and D.Cross
Is starting to look pretty solid. Its a credit to Melbourne and Roosy

Solid now, in two years vince and cross will be out of the midfield at best, Cross retired Vince perhaps up forward or done as well.

Will be important how Salem and Toumpass come on. Jones, Viney and Tyson will all be top players, although not sure if all will be elite. The others will not reach those heights. Hard to see them competing with the mids of Port or GC, but its hard to see anyone else doing that except GWS.

Swans will be good for a while yet:

Harry Cunningham (20 yo)
Luke Parker (21 yo)
Tom Mitchell (21 yo)
Daniel Hannebery (23 yo)
Craig Bird (25 yo)
Josh Kennedy (26 yo)
Kieren Jack (26 yo)

Plus there's highly rated Lloyd Perris (19 yo) and one of the top midfielders in this year's draft, Isaac Heeney, set to come to the Swans.

North's will probably be built around Cunnington, Ziebell, Atley, McDonald and Mullett. I'm okay with that.
