They where inconsistent yesterday surely umpires aren't above being criticised
of course not but putting a picture of an umpire up and discussing punching his head - who are we, richmond? it's the nongs who BLAME a loss on umpires (even 1 particular umpire now) who grind my goats - then it gets right out of hand - payments, conspiracies, afl is crooked, game is rigged, gambling, afl darlings, crowd frees.............it's a sport you clowns, you ingrates, you reprobates.............message ends..........

I think SOS has a pretty good appreciation of cas' worth to carlton and also what his worth is to carlton is if he does get taken by someone else as a FA.

Id guess that there would be a contract on the table at the end of the year. If he wants it then he can have it, if he can get more at the likes of richmond or collingwood then see you later cas. We will have the compensation.

I dont see any point in a rebuilding side, why you would want to pay overs to retain a player that is a one trick pony - great mark, but lets face it thats about it for cas the rest of his game is usually pretty frustrating from a supporters point of view.
I think its more about trying to keep talent in house, and also working out what it would cost in both time and money to replace that talent.

In house talent is always cheaper than trying to extract from another club.

Can't be unhappy with that performance. Yes, it would've been nice to get the result, and in 2018/19 we will. For now, I'll take that...

Jones: All Australian full back, without a doubt. What a player he's become. It's beyond comprehension, what he's been able to do.

Charlie: Has Kouta written all over him. I don't like doing that, but the similarities are too obvious. I was critical of him earlier this year. Looked to be a little disinterested. But he's a freak.

Murph: Must be injured. After a big start to the year, Has dropped away considerably.

Cripps: 57 games??? Is that right??? Can't be. He's really starting to bully and boss his opponents like few can.

Gibbs: I was given lots and lots and lots of great reasons why we should trade Bryce in the off season. Please, Carlton, please never ever trade Gibbs....ever!

I could list another twelve boys that are going to be superstars for our club. But I've banged on long enough. There's an air of destiny about this group. It's coming, and it's coming soon...

Yeh well nah, not singling out any and it wasn't why we lost

It's more than sport ... you've thrown your thermos

It wasn't the youngsters being overwhelmed it was the fringe players like Kerridge, Graham and White. Or Sumner and Sheehan being invisible.
Sumner's always invisible. Surprising they keep giving him a go, cause we get not much at all from him. Much better effort than last week. The more games we get into these young blokes the better. (minus Sumner)

Haha, now you've gone from being frustrating to just being down right hilarious.

Tell you what, if you think players like Graham (and even Kerridge) get too much hate, then how bout instead of defending them, you go and tell him to stop making the amount of stupid decisions and errors that he continuously makes every time he plays.

No other players in our team make the amount of dumb decisions and errors that he (and Kerridge) make on such a consistent basis, we have other players that make mistakes but they are the exception more than the rule, whereas one can guarantee that Graham (and Kerridge) will do it every game they play
Why don't you go and see them and pass on all the years of AFL experience you have onto them?
Maybe you can turn them round with all your AFL wisdom.
The rest of us supporters will put faith in the club with who they choose to put on the park.
If Carlton think their good enough, then their good enough.
Tell us how your call with the boys or Bolt's goes, genuinely interested

The Murphy 50 metre penalty?

The player's arc would have to be wider than Buddy's for it to have impacted the contest in any way.

Technically a 50 but had Carlton supporters most upset, confirming their bias that umpires had a V for vendetta.
There was an almost identical incident in the 3rd quarter. We had the ball on the wing and a 50 would have taken us to within 30 metres of goal.

If we could get angry, instinctive, ball-winning and goal kicking Kerridge more often instead of the fumbly, turn-over version we'd have a serious player on our hands.

Likes.

1. Charlie Curnow - presented really well - made Jake Lever look second rate at times. Really liked they put him in the middle a couple of times - if he can run through the midfield 10-15 mins a game it will be a huge bonus.
2 Liam Jones - another great game. Hopefully he can keep it up as having Weitering and Marchbank taking the 2nd & 3rd best forward enables them to play to their strengths by reading that play and getting busy on the counter attack.
3. Sam Kerridge - made a couple of blues but ran really hard all day and kept Sloane really quiet. Runs hard to block, shepherd, create space etc off the ball which doesn't always show up when are watching on the TV.
4. Kruezer - excellent yet again. His overhead making has improved out of sight this year.
5. Casboult - his tap-work when Kruezer rested was excellent. Set up at least 2 goals. His flaws are clear but is still crucial for team structure and a big target to take the pressure off Curnow.

Continued... sorry, couldn't help myself.

JW: Jacob is a strange cat. I think he's a headband and beard away from being Bruce Doull.

Cuningham: Expect a decade of class from this kid. Does not panic, hard at it, beautiful skills.

Plowman, Marchbank, Doc, Jack: Winners, all of them. These blokes just Refuse to be beaten

What about the guys that DIDN'T play yesterday...

SPS: will be a big game player.

Williamson: already seen how terrific this boy is.

Pickett: another one or two pre seasons, he'll be unstoppable.

Lebois and Polson: sky's the limit.

Kerr, Byrne, Macreadie, Gorringe (yes, Gorringe. I still have hope), Phillips: could all be significant, long term players for Carlton.

Finally, young Harry McKay... I'm happy for him to develop in his own time and come in when he's ready. No hurry. But I'm extremely curious to see what this boy can do. To see just how good he will be.

A two goal loss to a premiership contender, at this point in our development, is as good as a win in my view. Carlton are heading toward a period of dominance. We're not far away at all.

So thoughts on McGoverns little 'onhand' punch to Weiters chest and his continued aggression.
Does he get away with that?
It was right in front of an umpire who was watching.
I've been waiting for someone to get wise this in the media, etc......nothing as yet.
How the umpire ignored it, is still a mistery .....

Just rewatching the game, and one thing I'm noticing is that most of the goals the crows kicked were from our turnovers. Without the turnovers we basically controlled the whole game.

The promising thing is that the turnovers are coming from our youngsters which you would think is only a matter of time before those turnovers disappear.

Also not minding Kerridge's game in hindsight

I swear I saw Kerridge throw a little jab at Sloane on the weekend. From where I was sitting (top deck right above it) it didn't look good, but there seems to be no media talk about it. Might not have been as bad as I first thought.

Any insight? 3rd quarter IIRC.

Cannot be any worse than the hit on Weitering that happened right in front of the umpire that didn't even earn a free kick.
