Good win by the Blues really needed that win to get back on track, we didn't play too well but we ended up winning by 10 goals. Imagine if we could actaully come to every game switched on?

So what changes do we make? Lucas was unlucky to get dropped, I was suprised Lucas was left out, going to be a very tough game this one. Can we get over the Dogs and try and cement a top 5 or 6 spot?

Hampson out. all this talk about his potential but really he was rubbish. Brisbane with about 10 main players out & he has 2 or 3 possessions.
Grigg wasnt too good either but at least he looks like he knows whats going on.
Playing the boundary line game plan - out. Kick it up the guts & give hendo & setant a good chance.
Russell kicking in. time for someone else to do it for a while.
Mitchs long sleeves - out.

It's Hammers first game, he is not going to get 30 possies, 40 hit outs and kick 10 goals in his first game back.

Knockers can't take a grab either... I got frustrated a number of times in the matches I watched where he would go for the mark, try and palm it down to one of our guys and it gets sharked by one of the opposition.

Hammer needs to stay in the side to get up to speed again and then after a few games assess where he is at. If he isnt where we want him to be, bring in Knockers.

Out: Grigg, Thornton
In: Lucas, Bower/White (whoever is fit)

Hampson didn't get near it but deserves another couple of games. Personally I would have picked Warnock in the first place, but now that Hammer's in the side he should get at least a month to find form.

Grigg out for Lucas. Turned it over badly in the first (though alot of our boys did) but didn't reeally do anything to keep his spot, when Lucas is a better user of the ball than he is.

For his first game of the season, Hammer played ok...so many times our boys could have kicked into the goal square to a Hammer 1 on 1 but they chipped it sideways, turned it over, and we were scored against.

O'halpin got a bit of the pill in the first half but turned it over quiet alot....where do we draw the line with our Irish recruit? At least he presented and made a few contests.

Robinson provide some hardness at the footy (though that one contest in the first that he squibbed was shocking) and played a better game than a Hadley type player, so should really hold onto his spot for another week.

Grigg looked more clueless than JR ever did. More than once he was 15 metres in the clear running forward, yet he held onto the ball till he was under pressure then had to scoop a handball out over his head.

Hampson did ok. Got the ball to ground front and centre a few times even though he couldn't clunk it. Great spring in the few ruck contests he contested. be interesting to know how much time he actually spent in the ruck. Not a great game by any means, but definitely did a few of the right things. Will keep his spot.

Robbo is tough as nails, just wish he could keep his feet a bit more and improve kicking skills.

Wish Walker could STICK A TACKLE. Not sure if its his shoulders that bother him or what, but he just flaps his arms at him, rather than drive his body forwards into them. Terrible to watch on about 5 occasions tonight.

Jacobs fought back well after getting pantsed by Leuenberger early on. Very happy with that. Coming along nicely. Think Hammer could compliment him nicely.

Thornton is living on borrowed time. White & Bower will be making him look over his shoulder thats for sure.

No changes IMO.

Gotta give Hampson and Grigg some more time, remember they haven't played i na long while. If Bower is available i'd bring him back in for Thornton.

Judd's right shoulder looked to give him some trouble late in the last QTR. He grabbed at it a couple of times before being sent off with the blood rule. Then motioned to it when the Doc was cleaning up his eye.
I pray to all the gods he is right for the next few weeks.

This is exactly what will happen come next week. Carlton supporters can't seriously expect grigg to get 25+ disp in his first game this season with a midfield like ours. Ratten mentioned in one of his press conferences that the ruckman chosen to replace kreuzer will be give 3-4 weeks to asses like warnock did at the start of the year. Bower will most likely come in for Thornton thats if he is fit enough.

Hampson got 2 Kicks, 2 Handballs, 2 tackles and 10 hitouts.

The only way is up (Yazz and the plastic population)

Hammer Time (MC Hammer)

Give him a 6 weeks I say, hopefully by then he'll have a Flat Top

Wouldn't surprise if we went unchanged into next week.

Hampson won't be dropped, surely. First game back, in a new position for him. Sure, he didn't have much of an impact but he did get to contests which is pleasing. With a big more match practise and a little more confidence, the marks will stick and he'll be right. The MC would not have expected him to dominate up forward straight away so I'd say they will be very pleased with his efforts and ability to get to a contest. Up forward he didn't have an impact but I thought he was actually very good when he was in the ruck.

Grigg was ordinary but it was his first game back so he'll probably get another go. Looked nervous and very slow out there so needs to improve. I personally prefer Lucas in the 22 purely because of the difference in skill but Grigg deserves a change for a few weeks.

Can't drop anyone else. Thornton may be a little nervous if Bower pulls up OK.

Grigg wasn't used to the tempo of AFL footy but thought he improved as the game went on and grew in confidence. Did a few really good things in the clinches in the second half. Hammer needs more game time as Jacobs and Warnock have had. Re-asses in four weeks.

Hampson did everything wrong pretty much, couldn't take a mark and presented poorly, just never got in the right spot to be an option when he has such an advantage on his opponant as he did tonight. Fumbled and made poor decisions and did not attack the contest hard. Having said this, he probably deserves another week or so to pick up the pace and general workings of AFL and see how he goes. Just looked to have NFI about playing forward but hopefully he can improve, will have to stick at it.

Setanta had his bad patches. Wasn't physical and didn't hit the contests hard but never does and is still usually effective. Should improve on tonight.

Thornton was probably at his best but saying that a half fit Bower is still better than Thornton at his best.

Robinson was finally played on the ball like I have been hoping and considering he is relatively raw in this role he did ok. Looked to have lacked some confidence but improved as the match went on, and will grow big time in this role if we leave him here and give him the chances.

I think only one change this week and that is Bower in and Thornton out.
