I don't think there is such a thing as best 22, we probably have something like a best 25 or so.

*If Kolo can't play then Henderson comes in.
*I like Fogarty and he got a few touches and tackles but Parfitt must come in.
*Scott Selwood has been killing them in the VFL, he is experienced, has composure, can play forward, midfield and tag. He should get a game, I know he might be gone next year but this is now. Who goes out? Either Henry, Guthrie or Atkins. Atkins probably had his worst game and should bounce back, Guthrie was poor (so were many others) but has been good, Henry is a good player, however we have a plethora of defenders and Henry plays his best when our midfield is getting destroyed and the ball is continually firing back in defense, I'd rather stop that at its source.
*If Sav doesn't make it then Buzza in. We need someone who can ruck rather than rely completely on our best KPD. Who makes way? Of the other two mentioned for structure I'd be inclined to keep Atkins.
Out: Kolo(inj), Fogarty, Henry(managed), Guthrie(managed)
In: Henderson, Parfitt, Scooter, Savrat/Buzza

Nonsense. Check the 2018 B&F results.

Well, I think it's nonsense to say he was a reliable player before now...... Many expressed concern about him. I was one of them.

And B&F's have their own bias, so I don't rely on them as an indisputable assessment of a player.

We'll agree to disagree.

Some are slow to appreciate quality.
Others like you and me - why waste time!! Have appreciated his versatility and strength from early on.
The 2 contract extension signatures I was desperate for were Kolo and Bews.

Not slow at all VDubs...... there was legitimate reason to question whether he had the quality or not.

He looked ordinary at times, and I was one of quite a few who were concerned. It now looks like he's going to make it. I'm rapt.

Gazza training in the No. 5 jumper today...

A little bit cocky.
At least someone has used it. Been collecting dust for the best part of 2 years.

No, but I don't think that was the worst call. He's been better since Round 1 than before it.
Can't agree here, he's been great this season but imo his 2018 slipped under many radars on here.

Slow is being generous mate.

I love Harry, but it reeks of desperation when they do that
It's only while Sav is out, my offering. If Buzza hasn't got in by now, the quality call is Harry CHF, Hendo CHB, if Kolo, Sav out.
So people like I are stupid for questioning, withholding judgement until further evidence was provided?
It doesn't matter what you label yourself (stupid is not right though). The issue is the vindication of the MC.

Kolo having a good year but he was trash for a long time
Your definition of trash needs updating. Kolo has never been trash. He has developed each year beautifully. What did you want in his first 2 years?
As long as you admit you're relieved to see him in hoops rather than playing elsewhere. He will be a 200 gamer, quality player for us.

I didn't label myself at all.

It was a direct inference.

Anyhow. I can only assume some have never had a doubt shown to be unfounded in the long run.

He was very, very ordinary for a time there VD, and I don't think it was unreasonable for people to withhold their approval until he showed more.

To have had unwavering belief from Day 1 was extremely insightful, or has a tinge of hindsight in it imo.

But well done to you if it was the former.

Lifetime of supporting Geelong, now 56 years worth. What that's taught me is to trust our talent scouts, to remember that players don't lose ability- just confidence, and that players with true raw ability should be given time to develop their potential.
Please trust me when I say the quality was ALWAYS there.
I bet you had questions about earlier years Joel Corey, Corey Enright, Jarrad Rooke...most of us did.
Kolo had mighty big shoes to fill, and can honestly say I loved the look of him day 1, and that raw potential has borne fruit. Just the size of him day 1- you can't buy bodies like that- just made for footy.

Not by me- I referred to slowness in the sense of reluctance or stubbornness.

*in this case, my posts are on record; as you know, I've had some flops that I thought were going to be "weapons"
*it didn't hurt that he has a twin who was also highly touted- great gene pool.

I have the SAME opinion of Jed Bews- still tbc if he is a lock in our 22, but he is in mine.

Followed them all my life too, and you're not that far in front of me.

I commend you for deciding he was a quality player on Day 1.

I saw a guy who often made poor decisions, had average skills, and heard footsteps. I wasn't sure whether or not he'd rise above it.

But he's made good strides since so I dips my lid to him..... And you.

Bews had another one of his bog standard games against the Dogs with little impact and making fundamental errors like letting the ball get over the back when spoiling.

The backline looks unsettled with 3 smalls in Tuohy, O'Connor and Bews down there. Jed is the obvious out. He's a mechanical type and lacks the innate footy smarts and skills to be a regular best 22 player in the AFL.

Looking forward to the backline resetting and the coaches are done with this period of experimentation.
