Back to the game.

Fog was good, DE was down but his first options were good

Doc was really poor early but got better as the game went on, just

Gibbo and Martin hit the scoreboard but needed to do more when they didn't have the pill

Harry playing in front/leading looked much better after the 1st qtr

Thought the backline were disorganized as a unit, especially our talls, but the pies worked better for mismatched than we did

Levi isn't right, just play OMac

William's started well, but faded badly

Fish needs to use the first option first up, enough with the shimmy

Teague, slow this team down, pass it through hands more often, add the tempo that better sides adopt

To say it was disappointing is an understatement.
What’s happened to Cripps? He doesn’t work hard enough defensively.
And if it’s true Plowman was laughing with Grundy he needs to ge dropped - just to set a f%#^ing example to the rest of them.

Maybe it's the disappointment and salty red mist talking, but the thought of letting Cripps go for a band 1 compo pick in a loaded draft of mids sounds morr and more appealing.

Our mid field atm bar Walsh and PC lacks depth, speed and arguably only runs one way..

On tonight's form, if Norf offered their first pick for Harry to at end of the season, I would probably do it too.

Its Carlton Sale of the Century, hosted by Tony Barber!!!

Just got back, watching the game from L2 flank/wing for 3qtrs and 1qtr behind the goals from behind the glass gives you a great view on how things unfold...
We were systematically exposed all over the ground, the continuous same concerning areas, centre bounces & stoppages, ball transition, defensive pressure, defensive run and chasing, non existent forward pressure or the ability to lock the ball in, inexcusable manning up in general play all over the ground, poor skills, turnovers, decision making, we got opened up at ease by their fast spread, run and ball movement...
We are far too easily scored against we are absolutely putrid defensively in every aspect you can think of, same problems occurring that still haven’t shown any growth which atm puts things in the problematic stage of will they ever? we have massive flaws that need attention...

We are mentally piss weak. No belief and no composure.
What surprises me is that after all this time, we still dont have a team of blokes that tackle and chase like their footy careers depend on it. Skill and talent get you only so far, but determination and effort will set you apart.
Jsos, gibbons, walsh, saad, weiters........ they care! Anyone else?

What’s the deal with Cripps? Looks a shell of his old self tonight...must be carrying something. No idea what he was doing tonight.

He also need to learn to be a role player. When he’s not playing well, when he’s injured or when he’s getting heavily tagged. Could have been a forward decoy or tagged someone. Part of this needs to come from the coaches...doesn’t look like there’s a plan B.
He's a sook. That's his deal.

Loves talking about how much he is developing himself on podcasts, same old sulky streak though.

Him and Docherty aren;t showing much as leaders.

We have so much work to do, I fear we've botched this.

I picked us. We lost. Been saying for 12 months we are not up to it. The following players can not take us to finals: Jones, Dow, Plowman, Williamson, Ed Curnow, Casboult, Murphy

Teague needs to stop playing SPS and Setterfield out of position.

We are so unlikely to make finals, we need to play stocker, kennedy, carrol, durdin, owies and honey to see if they are made of the right stuff

How could the midfield be the biggest weakness when you've brought in Williams as a RFA on 750K, Cripps on 1 million and Walsh on over 500K.

That midfield is the kind of money paid to people like Cotchin, Yeo, and Patrick Dangerfield.

Because that is where the game was clearly lost.. You would have to be blind to have missed that tonight.

So many things went wrong and I probably can say we played 15-20 mins of good footy, not great footy, and that’s being nice. I found tonight as at times last week, we love to flood the back 50 or move towards the defensive half of the ground too quickly. Saad took an intercept mark 60m out in the 4th after a kick in from them and our forward line had already emptied out. How are you going to win games of football with a system like that?

We let them play the short ball for too too long tonight and they cut us up I felt. Too many passengers, with a lack of intensity. You cannot let a team have that type of uncontested ball use, no matter who it is. Our midfield was diabolical and Walsh can be the only one to hold his head high. I’m really worried Cripps is playing with an individual mindset and not a team mindset sometimes, he holds on too long with ball in hand on exit from stoppages and thinks he can keep bossing opponents physically although is getting caught frequently.

Most importantly, decision making was terrible. I felt we were so panicked tonight and could not find a tempo at all. Williamson’s call to hold play up with open players ahead to create a link in the chain of play is a good example of how simple decisions can be team killers. so frustrating.

Fog, Walsh, Saad, Gibbons, McKay and Martin. Only players I’m relatively pleased with. 3-4 players need to go back to the 2s and understand they will not just be gifted games. Last thing: Barker needs to go or be removed from Stoppages. You’ve had a chance to fix this and we just keep getting worse or stagnating. We need someone better.
Not confident at all for next Sunday, but let’s see how we go.

Done.
This new game style don't suit him.

I wouldn't shop him around as such, but if he is testing the market, I'd look at our options.

The reality has sunk in... pre-season had the hope maybe what was hiding in the back of my head was just 20 years of disappointment clouding my judgement. 2020 was a special year and the cracks were due to an arduous strange season. Pinning our hopes on the forever injured in Marchbank and McGovern, and knowing Curnow will return and do something beyond his new capabilities on or off the field and he'll be done. Would Williams and Saad make much difference, considering we lost our 2 biggest heart and soul players due to retirement.

Time to admit it, we're a plodding team, 80000 members won't boost anything... can't hide behind Covid and kids any longer.

These 4 goal honourable loses are getting intolerable. There has to come a time when our team grab a game by the throat and smash the opposition, hasn't happened with this team since 2000, that's 21 years folks!!!!!
Sadly agree with the sentiment of Murphy, Curnow and Levi belonging to a 'near enough' culture that is infecting the playing group. First dropped next week has to be these three. In's should be JSOS (if fit), Eddie, and Cunningham/Stocker/Cotterall/Carrol, whoever....
Not all doom and gloom just yet, but also not too far away either...

TBH, I am less concerned about winning or losing...
I am sick of bruise free footy.
I want the young kids to play.
I want defenders picked at half back.
I want 2 new assistant coaches.
I want to see exhausted players collapse to the ground when the siren goes.
I want players that GAF...
Cb
Start replacing half the assistant coaches
