That was the worst loss I've sat though since North pumped us by 100+ in the pre Judd era

As a fan of this once great club I'm fairly broken hearted right now. How can we kick 6 goals in a qtr and 3 for the rest of the game???

Mentally fragile..........

Round 22 in the spoon days? Spider Burton looked like the second coming of Polly Farmer in his final game of AFL football IIRC. The only good thing about that day was having a kick on the Dome afterwards!

We all fell in love with the Carlton Football Club. What we have seen thus far in the 21st Century is an entirely different entity. Safe to say that the majority of us are as passionate and loyal as they come, but I can understand why those with the greatest emotional investment are now very close to becoming 'followers' of the club until any semblance of the Club that captured our hearts returns. My indifference began to set in during that horror show against Melbourne in April of 2014. Sitting at the game literally speechless - didn't even have the urge to scream. It was almost as if my body told me it had had enough of this prolonged unilateral and fruitless investment.

Must we find other passions whose outcome we control directly? There's only so much spare time we have and, ideally, we'd like to fill it with things that actually make us happy. Bloody hell :(

Just frustrated? Yeah, we all are.

That doesn't absolve him of his responsibilities as a footballer but more importantly as a leader of this football club.

Explaining his action in an interview after the game does not make the action itself any less pathetic.

He has to be better than that.

Crime against humanity? Please.

As a leader of our club he has to show leadership. Such petulance and unsportsmanlike behaviour after a game doesn't cut it.

"For mine" would indicate that I'm more disappointed by a lack of leadership and sportsmanship than I am by the result in a game, a game which I expected to lose.

Has nothing to do with whether or not I watched the game.

Don't you dare make assumptions or comments about my personal life. That's an argument you cannot, and will not win. Argue the point. Get personal and our result won't be the worst for you this evening.

Have a good read of your sig.
Yeh
You done?.
We don't belong anywhere.
You have to earn it!.
It's shit like that that put the EFC where it is today.
Who gives a rats arse if one of our great stalwarts and true blues doesn't shake the hand of a DH that tried to knock his block off!.
A bloke that also helped us lose Geoffy Garlett.
Worst part of the night pfft
Lols go on ban me for the truth!.

What a load of wank.

Start a thread about it if it's such a crime against humanity.

"Forget the score, that is the most disappointing part of the evening, for mine".

If you didn't watch the game how could you say it was the most disappointing part?

The most disappointing thing about my night are the comments like this by people who've probably never raised a sweat let alone been smashed from pillar to post for 10 years.

You're not good enough to clean his boots, let alone suggest he get the arse.
Well said! There is a lot of media coverage this morning about how the Blues lack the right list and have so many of our stars out injured. HOWEVER, that does not excuse the remaining players from not applying basic footy pressure. They may have skills deficiencies but the number of times Carlton has capitulated over many seasons through lack of effort bluntly indicates what is happening is happening above the shoulders. The reality is we have capitulated and gone missing from games with and without our stars playing! Other clubs have list deficiencies but most have a group of guys who want to put in every week. Carlton has clearly not had this for many seasons! I'm sick of the excuses and rhetoric from club and coach(es).

Do you know how I know that we will be ok?

We have Patrick Cripps. Watch him lead this club to success in the years ahead.

If things continue on current trajectory, he will be the most important player this Club has ever had, in my opinion.
Wow ... Massive call (not saying your wrong ... Just our history is littered with awesome awesome players). I hope so!!

FMD is all I got to say.

Didn't even bother watching last night.

Final margin made me think .... if we are tanking I am over this club. Have we learnt nothing if thats the case!

And if we are not tanking? FMD again .... what sort of pea hearts do we have??

We have hit another deeper rock bottom!

So sick and tired of seeing clubs like the saints and bulldogs do it right and what do we do .... same old stupid crap .... get a high profile coach and poach a high profile player .... Last lot worked well ..... MM and Daisy .... well done board you are all a pack of stupid morons who over the last 10 years have killed this once proud club.

Not saying he'll be the most awesome player we've had (wouldn't put it past him though), but as timing has it, he has entered the club when we are in the most desperate need we've ever been in for a player with exceptional leadership qualities and skill to match, to lead us out of this hole ... Young Cripps, to me at least, has both in spades and the others will rise with him, under his leadership ... I shudder to think how I'd feel right now if not for Cripps in the side!

You're not having a go at Rogers are you?

Yep - Too many are concentrating on the actual train wreck and not what caused it. The train wreck started a long time ago with list management and terrible drafting 6 or 7 years ago and has continued for some time. With the lack of 22 to 25 yr old with 70 - 120 games of experience that are of a good AFL standard I don't see how this can be disputed.

BB38- unfortunately we ain't even at rock bottom. Still stuck in quicksand from 2002. U R right, we need to be at rock bottom to build foundation. I reckon we'll be getting a whole lot worse before we get any better, if that's possible.
Feels like there may be not only members but also player and sponsor exodus. Just have a feeling that noone wants to be there. I am concerned if we can attract a decent coach. Club is in turmoil. Past champions, premierships, pride is exactly that. The past.

Back to the actual game....

There came a point in the game - when we failed to convert easy shots and momentum turned. At the same time Brisbane started kicking everything from everywhere - and most Carlton players gave up on any structure. The middle of the ground opened up up and they were allowed to own the corridor. Brisbane adopted a flood and ran harder from HBF - we had nothing and none one running with their man for far too long. The forward lien lacked any structure whatsoever for most of the match.

Brisbane aren't as good as Barker and the players allowed them to be last night and we aren't as bad as the final score showed - except for this.

Our fitness levels, size and skill base is not AFL standard across the park - save for a few genuine AFL players. Murphy and Cripps were sensational in the efforts they put in. Kreuzer tried as best he could but Martin outplayed him as teh match wore on - the younger brigade in Docherty, Holman, Whiley, Smith, Boekhurst and Jacksh -played as expected. Carrazzo shouldn't be playing, Bell was ineffective as was Everitt and Simpson and Walker...Casboult was missed badly. Henderson was hopeless again and Rowe find new lows each week.

When you don't capitalise on momentum you can get smashed on the rebound- Brisbane ran out the game harder and smarter and their bigger fitter, faster bodies ran out the day.

Tanking takes all forms and the side put on the park last night was always going to struggle. unless everything went right. Would love to know what Watson has done so wrong - that he can't get a game even with such a depleted side.
