I am ashamed of that performance.
The playing group live with a 70 point loss for an entire preseason.
Our midfield is weak. Desparately requires a recruitment injection
Fisher, Dow, Obrien still play like boys not men.
Deluca will get his pre season but is a vfl footballer.
If I was teague I would call them back next week and train them into the ground to send the message that these losses can not be tolerated.
Weitering gets a tick today
Fisher Dow and O’Brien are boys ffs.

I’m pissed with the performance as well but bit rich to call out individuals. They’ll get bigger and stronger, and then we will be returning the favour.

Those two 19 year olds O'Brien and Dow still play like boys?

That table of our age/games played vs Geelong ODN posted says it all.

While you would prefer to go out on a higher note, on the other hand at least expectations can be tempered and remain more realistic.

Unfortunately they don’t have a natural solid body like Taranto or hopper so will still be two years away of reaching full potential .. but we seemed a better centre clearance side at time with Dow’s burst speed throughout the year - against WC Rich Geel we have been smashed out of the centre even with cripps ..

Definitely not a case of the part telling the whole - that is, this was an undeniably disappointing end to what has been an inspiring second half of the season. A real pity, but by no means a disaster, and it certainly minimises any risk of complacency over the off season.

Btw, I presume that the club will be receiving a cash-stuffed Christmas card from Quinton Narkle’s agent, and I hope that those funds will be shared equally amongst the hardy Bluebaggers who endured the trip down to Geelong, the weather, the umpires, the ferals, and a lacklustre team performance by the boys.

I seriously hope that the Lions or Doggies snag the flag because, and not to put too fine a point on it, all of the other contenders / pretenders :poo: me to tears.

Their small forwards were all over us.

I thought the effort was there but we need to find a way to restrict ground level players inside defensive 50.

People who still don't think a small forward is a top priority for us (along with mature gun mid) have rocks in their heads.

While our delivery and system inside 50 wasn't great, there were plenty of crumbs to be had off packs and we just didn't really get anything going in that area...need small forwards who can create goals out of those nothing situations.

Not the way I'd hope we would finish the year, but we we're just outclassed by a more seasoned team.
Weather conditions and just unlucky wind shifts in the first half we're a huge factor in giving Geelong an unfair advantage but they are another level with ball movement, disposal efficiency and all round class.
Thought we cracked in all game although we had a lot of blokes down until half time, nearly every player had a better impact in the second half but we were again our own worst enemy continually turning the ball back over way to much.
There's a heap of areas we need to work on over the preseason but the great thing is we should have so much upside with the young talent we have and hopefully a few great additions to come with Teaguey to implement his style.
Well done to everyone, particularly in the last half of the year for laying a tremendous foundation for next year.
GoBlues...
