Unlike Duncan, I think Tuohy in the sub role can work. Acting as the extra sweeper late in games to give us a rebounding thrust. Perhaps releasing a fresh Holmes to midfield for a last quarter charge?

I wonder if this is the move they decide to go with during finals. If it's Bowes again I will melt. He had a shocking isolated effort last week but besides that has been one of our more prolific players when given appropriate responsibility.

You really don't like criticism of Ollie do you, even such that doesn't ask for his axing.
He's had a poor two months let's be real. Barely above a goal a game for the last 8-10 games and tackle numbers are lower.
Rohan isn't tackling/pressuring anyway and I think Henry will play better without him in the team.

Time to just lock in Cameron/Neale/Henry as our marking talls and hope they bring their best. 5000 opposition intercept marks isn't going to cut it in finals so they need to lift their game.

Wrong about what? The mc is always terrible at selecting sides.

No one says o.henry will be dropped. We say we want him to be dropped.

o.henry and rohan are competing for the same spot. henry is the future of the Cat`s forward line. rohan isn’t and both are in a form slump. so at least I disagree…

This is not our first final seeds.

For a starters its not a knockout game as we are locked into the 8.
And secondly we are playing an awful team.

I didnt get anything wrong because bews a) wont play finals and b) wont be on the list next year.
If he plays finals then i will be wrong but he wont.
This has a touch of the Caroline Wilson's about it PO.

You said it was a farewell game for Bews - in Tassie of all places - weeks ago.

He then played the week after, and is now playing again.

Whether he's in our best side, or playing finals is irrelevant to that point. It wasn't a farewell game against Norf, and it wasn't against Adelaide.

Unless of course you think he's playing three farewell games, just to really get the heart strings pulling.

So Rohan after 2 weeks out he plays 61 minutes of footy and needs to be managed again ahead of a bye!

Not ommitted though!

Surely he needs to play vfl next week (this week a bye)

It's interesting with Rohan

One report says he's out managed, which is what it says on the club's team sheet:
"Oisin Mullin (Omitted), Mitch Knevitt(Omitted), Gary Rohan (Managed)"

But when reading the attached article, plus the list of ins & outs, it says omitted:
"Gary Rohan, Mitch Knevitt and Oisin Mullin have all been omitted." &

Round 24
Geelong v West Coast
GMHBA Stadium, Geelong
1.45pm AEST
Saturday August 24

In: Tanner Bruhn, Zach Tuohy, Jed Bews
Out: Gary Rohan (omitted), Oisin Mullin (omitted), Mitch Knevitt (omitted)

So, is he managed or omitted?

We'll find out in two weeks

I expect MOC will be straight under the knife as soon as our season is done and probably should have already done so.

I took it as something of a good sign that Merrick seemed to be involved in full training yesterday based on the photos from the club - I can’t remember him in too many of those training photos lately

Maybe a case of trying to nurse him through the VFL finals and have him as a break glass option for the seniors also

I think they are picking him because they need a lockdown small defender option, MOC is bombed out and they can't trust Mullin in a final. Pure has just said it was a farewell game for Bews 3 times already.

Maybe it's more situational?
Mullin did a very good job negating Hill.
I suspect if we face Sydney, he may be back in to curtail a Gulden.

You're the Jed, try and understand it
Take a kick and send it out on the full
Oh, Beeewwwwwsss
Oh, Beeewwwwwsss

Jed , the modern day John Beckwith , ex Melb premiership capt early 1960s , specialist back pocket player , and honestly what he was remembered/renowned for ( before the out on the full rule came in ) any sign of danger , just boot the ball into the crowd as far as you could , put it over the fence

Re Bews selection , its definitely not a farewell game , Scott isnt diicking around with the team at this late stage in the season

Ollie Henry is very lucky that we don't have any other medium forwards who are half decent.

Bews is very lucky to keep getting opportunities. The MC is very generous.

Mature response.
Ollie is in poor form, and it must improve if we're to do well next month.

The Bews selection is bizarre.

He's been only ok at VFL level and his 2 AFL matches have been North and being torched by Rachele against Adelaide. Add in West Coast and it's not exactly a lead in ready for finals footy.

Are they going to announce he won't be offered another contract and think he deserves a goodbye? Cause if he's genuinely in line for finals ahead of Mullin, Knevitt, Parfitt and Clark that's staggering.
Truly dumbfounding

That would seem pretty obvious based on selection over recent weeks

We’ve been pretty obviously focusing in on what the best 23 looks like, and then who are those that make up 3 or 4 players who are just on the fringes of that, and whom could potentially be called upon during finals if required

I know that not all are happy to have seen Knevitt & Mullin be given games over recent weeks, but I’m thinking the MC wanted to see what they could offer in pressure games - Knevitt didn’t do himself any favours last week (maybe bit of confidence hit also with being in & out of the team over recent times), while Mullin showed some positive signs with the job he did on Hill

I respect your opinion Vdubs acknowledge your seniority on here but Port power will be the last team I will be barracking for if we're eliminated before them. Being a long time Sturt supporter in the sanfl, we may respect the magpies and there sanfl history but we loath them and that filters onto following the power in the afl. Also just because Hinkley was a cats supporter's favourite in the 90's that didn't follow on to wishing him success at Port.
As a Geelong supporter in Adelaide it is hard to like either local team. Sycophantic, monocular media coverage tends to feed into that.
Plenty of support for the cats over here though, which is good.

Fair enough, we all have our reasons.
I like Hinkley, sure, but also The Fab 4- Rozee, Butters, JH-F, (and Sav!!)
