There are several candidates possibly available: eg. John Worsfold, Michael Voss, Bomber Thompson, a number of Assistant Coaches (particularly those with a Hawks pedigree). Question then becomes....do we need a coach with an established record or a younger coach with a more flexible, innovative approach?

lets be honest, we are getting worse before we get better. we don't have a deep pool of young talent in the making. We need recruiting and development. McCartney might be the option, good developer of talent and might just alienate some of the talented senior free loaders into wanting a trade

Will the Mick sycophants now wise up and admit dropping the kids and making 8 changes backfired?

Sorry cringle but Watson aint got it.

It didn't work and will never work.

I'd rather each group didn't call each other with calls of 'deluded', 'sycophants' and the like every time something fails though.

The list is broken, the coaching is broken, and we're all over the shop with our reasons why. We know nothing. All we know is it's bloody broken and we are being spoon fed bullshit as to why.

It's a very fine line, we should be careful not to cross it.

It is very fine....but it's one we need to tread in order to move forward. If the young blokes like Graham and Holman end up on the scrap heap at the end of the year, I sure bloody hope it's on the back of not performing in the 1's, not because they didn't get a chance to develop against real opposition.

This bloke could have the shortest tenure as club president if he doesn't take control of the situation this coming week.

And I don't want to hear any more palava about contracts being honoured etc, I want to see positive actions !!

Contracts can be honoured by paying them out.

Yep, the ranters will no doubt get their way. What concerns me is the baby will most likely be tossed out with the bathwater. Capable people will be sent packing as a result of the performance of the past admin. Whichever way we go, our playing list is still going to be sub standard for a number of years.

So true! And McCartney definitely a strong candidate.

Now that is the right question the club needs to asking itself over the next 6 months ... if not earlier !!!

Which ever the way the club goes, the supporters have to be realistically expecting a hell of lot more games like today, before we are competitive again. But as someone rightly pointed out, the seeds for this season piss poor showing haven't just been sowed recently. Its been in the making for nearly 8 or 9 years now.

Sorry to go over old ground but below is a stark reminder that you need more than just three No. 1 draft picks to lay the foundation of long term success and why it is so critically important for Son of Serge to get the next 3 or 4 drafts right and create a squad that has a depth of talent and not just a handful of talented players.

Pick No. 22 - Josh Bootsma
Pick No.44 – Sam Rowe

2010 AFL National Draft
Pick No. 18 – Matthew Watson
Pick No. 34 - Patrick McCarthy
Pick No. 42 – Luke Mitchell
Pick No. 67 – Andrew McInnes
Pick No. 99 David Ellard
Pick No.108 Simon White

2009 AFL National Draft
Pick No. 12 – Kane Lucas
Pick No. 43 – Marcus Davies
Pick No. 59 – Rohan Kerr
Pick No. 83 Aaron Joseph

2008 AFL National Draft
Pick No. 8 Chris Yarran
Pick No. 40 Mitch Robinson
Pick No. 65 – Rhys O'Keeffe
Pick No. 80 - Caleb Tiller

2007 AFL National Draft
Pick No. 1 – Matthew Kreuzer
Pick No. 36 – Steven Browne

2006 AFL National Draft
Pick No. 1 – Bryce Gibbs
Pick No. 17 Shaun Hampson
Pick No. 19 – Shaun Grigg
Pick No. 35 – Mark Austin

Who is really surprised at today's result?
GWS were always going to win today.

What is most concerning is how bad Carlton actually look and perform.
They look disinterested and uncommitted.

Or, is it cause they are so bad they are made to look this way?

We literally had to do everything wrong in the last 10 years to be here ... sadly we did.

A great football club is now irrelevant.

Makes me want to cry.
We still havent gotten out of the quick fix old boy era where money got us everything the rich "benefactors" wanted.

We need a board without ties to the rich benefactors who can tell them to **** off when needed.

Apart from giving us a bunch of pokie machines to assist us in reducing our debt, what has Bruce Mathieson actually given us?

It was his agents that sounded out Mick in 2012 when HE thought that we were only a premiership coach away from the top 4. So he orchestrated the knives in the back of Ratts and got him sacked with one year left on his contract.

It was his boy on the board, LoGuiduce, who approached the Hawthorn guy after he had been bitching about our recruiting to the media.

Yes... Dick Pratt came along and started the club back onto the road to success. However... along the way, we got stuck with a president who was beholden to the rich "benefactors" and he couldnt say no to them... apart from the incident with Fev.

I would be interested in knowing who it was who got Trigg on board.

We need someone to come along now with some drive and direction who doesnt have ties to those rich benefactors. Someone who can come in and rebuild the club from the ground up. Someone who will put the supporters first instead of pandering to the whims of pieces of shit like Edelstein.

Not true. Over the past 5 years, Waite, Hampson, Henderson and Casboult have featured prominently in the contested mark tallies. The issue has been that we can't hit forwards on the lead and don't have forwards that know how to lead. Our only option to get a shot is contested marking and you don't get that many opportunities.

John Barker likes this post.

He has now ****ed up our backline for good measure.
