If we left you in charge of the club... that would be our salary cap stuffed for the next 10 years... think before you post shit really!

WELL THE FACT IS I'M NOT GENIUS!!!

And think before you reply. THE CLUB IS ALREADY IN THE SHIT.

Tell me what good is it keeping 30 year old has-beens, club rejects, list cloggers and mature-aged draft picks that aren't going to last long?

Here is the reality check, this list is not going to get us anywhere. If you think otherwise, THAN YOU ARE NUTS! It's common sense.

Now that is the right question the club needs to asking itself over the next 6 months ... if not earlier !!!

Which ever the way the club goes, the supporters have to be realistically expecting a hell of lot more games like today, before we are competitive again. But as someone pointed, the seeds for this season piss poor showing haven't just been sowed recently. Its been in the making for nearly 8 or 9 years now.

Sorry to go over old ground but below is a stark reminder that you need more than just three No. 1 draft picks to lay the foundation of long term success and why it is so critically important for Son of Serge to get the next 3 or 4 drafts right and create a squad that has a depth of talent and not just a handful of talented players.

2011 AFL National Draft
Pick No. 22 - Josh Bootsma
Pick No.44 – Sam Rowe

2010 AFL National Draft
Pick No. 18 – Matthew Watson
Pick No. 34 - Patrick McCarthy
Pick No. 42 – Luke Mitchell
Pick No. 67 – Andrew McInnes
Pick No. 99 David Ellard
Pick No.108 Simon White

2009 AFL National Draft
Pick No. 12 – Kane Lucas
Pick No. 43 – Marcus Davies
Pick No. 59 – Rohan Kerr
Pick No. 83 Aaron Joseph

2008 AFL National Draft
Pick No. 8 Chris Yarran
Pick No. 40 Mitch Robinson
Pick No. 65 – Rhys O'Keeffe
Pick No. 80 - Caleb Tiller

2007 AFL National Draft
Pick No. 1 – Matthew Kreuzer
Pick No. 36 – Steven Browne

2006 AFL National Draft
Pick No. 1 – Bryce Gibbs
Pick No. 17 Shaun Hampson
Pick No. 19 – Shaun Grigg
Pick No. 35 – Mark Austin
Pick No. 51 – Clint Benjamin
Pick No. 67 – Joe Anderson

Don't know whether to be really really sad or really really angry!!!!

Guilty of what perchance? Can you enlighten us as to what he is guilty over?

You name it.

He's was the acceptable public face of an incompetent board.

The mistakes made under his presidency have put this club in a position that we may never recover from.
Sticks was a disaster.

Again, a complete lack of run. This may be a cause or effect of our lack of confidence, but it looks more and more likely that we completely buggered up our preseason

So we go there again?

I see ranters pro-staying the course without being able to tell us what the course is and I see ranters saying it's not working and we need to change it.

What is clear to me is we have gone nowhere since Ratten was sacked. Lost players, good players are no longer very good. The football is ugly. There are few redeemable features there at the moment.

We are right now years away from competing, assuming the game plan is viable and can be taught. Let's not kid ourselves. We won the finals lottery in 2013 because the players returned to their old game plan. We have failed abysmally with this magic game plan that nobody seems to be able to pin down. All we hear is players aren't listening and the same players being dropped and being brought back again.

I feel like I'm being feed a line about this premiership winning game plan that the side who won a flag under it, no longer use.

It's one problem and it doesn't exonerate the rest of the problems.

3 years is long enough to recognise a problem and deal with it.

8 players from tonight played in that 2011 semi final, 12 on our current list played in that game. More played in that 2013 elimination final. These guys have gone backwards. Why?

I agree 3 yrs is long enough to recognize a problem. We started heavily delisting the mess of a list 3 yrs ago. Sadly one more year of culling to go and for all our sake we never draft a list as BH kindly or sadly put up and watch some young talent develop and get us competitive again.

After looking at this, why should Carlton be in the league? That is disgraceful drafting.

Even those who remain aren't getting us anywhere.

Rowe came in too late.
Watson stagnant.
Ellard making up the numbers.
White inconsistent.
Kreuzer injury prone.
Yarran undisciplined.
Gibbs below par.

Jock, that mess of a list made finals 4 years out of 5.

It was coming off last, last, second last when Ratten took the helm as full time coach in 2008. It went 59-1-50 under Ratten.

It had deficiencies and might not have got over the line on GF day but did we really need to take 4 offseasons to delist every player on it and then another 4-5 to rebuild it on the off chance we might snag a flag, or was there a better way?

ODN you mean Open Mike on Monday night. At least Elliott is passionate about the club still wears the Carlton tie. Pity he didn't do the right thing when he was the president.

I mean they are promoting his appearance tonight, as in advertising it right after that loss.

There are several candidates possibly available: eg. John Worsfold, Michael Voss, Bomber Thompson, a number of Assistant Coaches (particularly those with a Hawks pedigree). Question then becomes....do we need a coach with an established record or a younger coach with a more flexible, innovative approach?
John Worsfold - ummm maybe
Michael Voss - NO!
Bomber Thompson - not just no... but **** NO!

positives
Menzel's Daicosque goal
Dick not disgraced
Levi's kicking
No queues at the food stands

negatives
GWS' kicking for goal - we should have lost by 20+ goals instead of 13.
kicking it backwards and sideways
leaving a loose man - coaches have learned nothing since the Richmond game.
slamming the ball on the boot because there are no options
handballs that put the recipient under worse pressure. Don't think, DO!

Yeah we are definitely light years away. I was pleased in a sense that we have stopped over-rating ourselves recently and have taken action to address some of the many deficiencies in the way we operate. There seems to be the finger of blame in many directions. For me it was recruiting and list management. For others it's Bruce. For others it's MM. For others it's the board. It's pretty clear that we have multiple issues, and no visible light at the end of the tunnel. I like what Trigg has done, MLo is a little too quiet for mine, the board still remains largely unknown to me in terms of input. You'll get your wish for a different coach no doubt, though personally I feel our list is exactly where it belongs in terms of talent.

Malthouse loses before the team runs out.
It's ok to acknowledge a game well played, but really that is where it should end when commenting on opposition. No respect is needed other than simple acknowledgement.

It surely would be deflating for players to hear from the senior coach just how great every opposition is, especially for a team already lacking in confidence. I really hope Mick does not talk up the opposition pre game the way he does post game.
