It's probably based on our competitiveness and results from this season. I don't think people have made a mistake. We just looked at the the last few weeks and expected more than what was dished up today.
Stop expecting i say! Look at what we are. Look at the opposition. Realise we are a bottom 4 side still.

But also look at our future. The kids will come on soon enough.

And yet we continually sing the praises of our recruitment strategy.
Which player in that age bracket would you still have on our list?

It is our recruitment from the pre-SOS era that is responsible for the gap and there is a good reason none of them are still with us. In about 3-4 years that will be our largest age group.

The current strategy is okay, it is paying the price for the previous efforts.

can someone tell me how ,plowman does our kicking in........hes one of the worst kicks in the comp

bolton is not up to it.these players need a coach, who can put a semi attacking game plan in place, and a coach to put a rocket up these players.

casboult should never put on the jumper again.

and ,l o b,is starting to worry me big time.
Wow

This was North Melbourne
Absolutely unacceptable and no excuses for that disgusting performance.
David Teague at half time interview, this is the first thing that came out of his mouth:
“ North have been terrific”
No! No they haven’t ! We have been pathetically awful and have let the worst team in the AFL embarrass all of us.

This is what you get for dishing out pats on the back for honourable losses.

Our culture is dead , gone , buried forever.

We should be past these type of losses by now, enough is enough. With the talent available there are no more excuses.

Very happy to have Robert Walls running his eye over the whole place because something stinks and he needs to flush it out and exterminate it with his take no prisoners style. I would advise Barker , Bruce, Fraser and others to sleep with one eye open because I promise you the boogie man is coming and his name rhymes with Robert Walls.

Painful loss, we always play shithouse against North for whatever reason. Ben brown is just one of those blokes who always seems to get a couple of cheap goals and then Jones stops backing himself which results in one of his bad games.

We have been a better clearance side then north but they blocked Cripps at every contest and their bigger bodies just brushed off our kids all day.

What did annoy me was how easily they got the extra number to contests, I don't know if that was down to coaching positioning or players not working hard enough.

Finding a new kruezer needs to be a top priority, we went from our best 6 quarters in a row to probably our worst mostly due to his influence.

Robert Walls is a has been and not a valid appointment in that role. The whole coaching panel is not quick enough to react to opposition....need wholesale changes to the support team, not the head coach.

Murphy is such a disappointment. Needs to be demoted to the twos until he shows some desire to be out there.

So much more to be embarrassed about....the club can make a statement at selection...let's see if they have the guts to do it

We are at our youngest. Why would we be past these types of losses?

And talent is just that, talent. We need them to mature before we get past losses like this.

In this case, both can be true; we can be paying for the mistakes of the previous regime, in which a rebuild was completely our only path, and we could have tried harder to hold on to Gibbs, Tuohy and Henderson. This and last year with Gibbs - a player notorious for being durable - and our prospects would be significantly better, no less because I think towards the end of his time playing with us he actually started to care, needed to win and to be the one who lead the team.

Spilt milk and all that, though. We make do with what we've got, and come the end of it all we should be stronger for having cut harder, provided all's as it should be off field.

What level of footy have you played, to call Marc Murphy a fraud?
Are we going to set standards at our club or not?
Fair.

Provided an opinion is fair, as is the above, I've no issue. I have plenty of issue with the post I quoted, hence my reply. Last I checked, I get to determine exactly what I take issue with, not you.
Whats your issue? You want to defend a so called leader and former captain who refuses to put in effort and is shirking it week after week? Go ahead.

spot on..what a goose...as a player,and a person
Thinks it’s ******* funny that we’ve got 1 goal at half time and your teammate has literally had his lights put out.
Too many easy games gifted to some masquerading as AFL footballers at this club.
If you don’t feel and you don’t hurt you can’t win....That should be highlighted Nail and he should be dealt with....publicly.

Dude; there were 13 players for North (thirteen) with 100+ games... vs our 5 (five).

We played a whopping 11 players 21 or younger. They had 4.

No side plays more than 4 or 5 x 21 year olds. We played 11 of them

It showed, big time. We were outmuscled in the clinches, they fed the ball to their outside players with ease, and then we got outran, and brushed aside.

No amount of coaching or skill makes a player faster, stronger, bigger and tougher. That comes from pre-seasons and hours in the legs and at the gym.

I don’t understand against north Melbourne how we didn’t play Kennedy and setterfield.
We got monstered in the middle all day and constantly all that was done was play Cripps, Samo and fish and maybe swap Samo with Dow... too small and too weak and we got monstered.

The effort was poor all around today but if you keep getting outmuscled you’ll eventually crack.

With injuries mounting I don’t see many more wins until the second half of the year when simmo and kruez are back and playing every week. Without those two senior players in particular i don’t think there are enough senior players with heart, skill and mongrel that can set the tone for the younger players.

I'm not the slightest bit surprised - knew we'd lose but didn't think we'd get torched like that. We have pushed every team thus far this year and have basically lined up and U/23 side. North on the other hand are one of the oldest and biggest bodied side in the league and coming off a media pasting. See the way they broke our tackles so easy and every 50/50 ball ended up with them. Watched from the bleachers so takeaways below.

Walsh plays with more leadership and dare than most of our list.
Stocker probably had a debut to forget but saw some okay things. Betcha those dinky round the corner stab passes worked in TAC Cup... Not here though son.
Charlie is becoming a curious case - seems to get in the McKay's way and often gets lost. We've looked average in all the games he's played.
JSOS is becoming pretty important to us. Always gives 100% and creates a contest. In fact today looked the only forward not completely lost.
SPS & Dow Just 16 and 15 touches - really poor for starting midfielders
Murphy may be finished. He is struggling to get near it
Cripps looks a bit injured and frustrated - was often flat footed, jogging, not entering contests like he usually does.
Fisher was great, the way he accelerates and takes it on is impressive to watch
Marchbank & Plowman - Struggled, for all the **** Plowman cops, Marchbank is struggling to kick on. Understand injuries but do injuries affect general game sense that much?

We've let Dumont have 38 touches and some bloke called Zuuhar kick 5 and knock our best defender out cold. Just a dog ******* day at the office. Scrap it and pray injuries don't destroy us again like last year.

The lack of reaction from the team to the bump on Liam Jones and subsequent outcome says a bit about our overall lack of care today. It was an innocent enough action but it had big consequences and only Crippa went over to see how Liam was.

Yes, we are very young, but that does not excuse the effort displayed by the team today. Plowman will not be there when we're good again and Marchbank does not have any more going for him than Plowman, other than height. Time for Tubby Bye Bye's Murph. I wish for you that it was 2011 again.

JSos and Walshy tried hard, Daisy had a crack, Cripps is not right but had a go, Fisher was good and Weiters was solid. Will Bolts be around at season's end? Its not looking good for him at this point.

Sat on the wing and stopped watching the game and rather focused on what we were doing. We are without doubt the slowest club in the AFL by the flemington straight bar Fisher. Our 2way run is non existent, our kick in Zone is laughable, our attacking structure is non existent, we actually dont know what to do or where to run, theres 0 overlap running for each other, no defensive blocks, minimal shepards, everyone looks scared and wants the ball in someone elses hands.

Who the F is our skills coach to? Our inability to hit a simple target is baffling, it really is. Im also convinced we do not do weights at Carlton we deadset look like a year 10 school footy team.

I can take losing if there is unrelenting effort. But we didnt even try today. Looking forward to another presser about learning and green shoots.
