Around 190 cm, has him covered for Speed comfortably and could handle him one on one. Playing 4 talls up forward never works. Once the ball hits the ground we would run you off your feet.

Possible but i dont see that happening ... hopefully we can get some crumbers going... i.e murphy , betts , gibbs all can kick goals

Just a question, if Bannister is playing so well atm is there any reason for Jackson to come into the team? especially if he's disposal is just as bad

I second the person that said finally someone has posted something with sense. Good post. Stop bagging Setanta and Bannister. And people who think Bentick will actually get picked are dreaming...

there is no way that bannister will be dropped, Ratten loves him.

Sentana will get dropped and Carazzo too, they both need time in the two's.

Why does everyone keep including bannister in the outs? and I thought Russel played alright last week, so why would Ratten drop him. He brought him without Russel deserving it, yet Russel played alright, so I highly doubt he will get dropped.

Outs Sentana, Carrazzo,

ins kruezer and bentick

Would love to see Jammo in but who would you drop, the backs played great last week. But in saying this I am dropping Sentana casue he needs match fitness and needs to gain some size

I wouldn't bring Jackson in because we already have bannister and we have no need for a run with player in this game. Horses for courses with him.

Would love to see Jammo in to play on lloydy and then waite play at chf on mcphee, who would you drop for Jammo?

Anyone notice that this is the first game where we may not struggle so much in the backline.

I'm going to make a probably dumb call.

Waite on Lloyd.

Carlos or Jamieson would be my first 2 options, should Jamieson come back into the side.

Ratten loves Carrazzo more.

Confident of a win?

I'd like more pace in the form of Anderson or Armfield and to drop a Scotland, but we won't be that bold and bring one of them in or keep Russell in. When a young player sees the senior players and members of the leadership group let their man run off them, he might assume that's how you become a good footballer and get a reputation which exceeds your performance.

It's all Russell's fault and he has to get in the neck as a scapegoat.

The 2 players I don't want see in defence are Scotland & Houlihan, you managed to get rid of Scotland but replaced him with Houlihan.

This could actually be a big week for Fev. Remember last year how he was way too good for Mal Michael on the lead, and then too good for Dustin Fletcher.
The Bombers don't really have a great match up for him.

For one Michael is in much better condition these days and probably still won't get first crack at him. Ryder will imo after doing so well on Edwards and Mooney in the last 2 weeks.

Big call that. I would've thought Fletcher would take Fev first up.

drop scotland? wtf?

Scotland and Houlihan add experience in to the side. They will be in the 22 all year pending injury (knock on wood)
What did Houlihan and Scotland do last week?

Chase and harass their opponents ahead of kick chasing.

Houlihan's efficiency was 60% and 75% for the past two weeks.

70% and 71% for Scotland.

Even Russell was more effective with the ball than the allegedly silky Houlihan and Scotland.

I only picked Houlihan in defence because Ratten is doing the same thing as Pagan and won't bring in a young medium defender with speed and accountability.

I think Houlihan beat Lovett the last time we played Essendon or the game before that.

Not really... he has been given jobs on big name players and beaten them. Mooney is Geelong's best forward and Edwards would be probably considered that coming into round 1. He has done very well on the likes of Franklin and O'Loughlin last year as well.

As for the person that said he didn't have the strength, whilst he may not be at the development stage where he has filled out completely his athleticism and other assets negate this. He managed to take some very good contested grabs vs Mooney last weekend.

As you can tell by my user name i am a huge wrap on the young lad. Wouldn't surprise me if he played Forward or in the Ruck this weekend either.

Ryder will only play on Fev if he's killing us. Mal will start on him, and Fletch will get second crack.

If Fev moved up to CHF then Ryder will take him. But if Fev is playing at CHF you guys will be struggling.

the good news is that we have not lost the first 3 matches of the season since 1989...and only 7 times in our history (the previous ones were in 1954, 1945, 1925, 1901, 1899, 1897).

so that means we are certs?

He had 11 effective possessions to 15 & 14. You may have noticed that a lot of the time there were no targets to kick to so they just had to kick it forward into space. At least they get the ball & can win it contested. What were Russell's possessions- 20m sideways uncontested kicks and a miss from directly in front?
