He competes. He tackles. He creates a contest. He works. He receives praise because we’re used to Belly doing precisely **** all around the ground. We’re seeing the benefit of having a ruck who’s willing to have a crack and help his teammates outside of just crashing into another lumbering glacial gimp.

Maybe because we can acknowledge that he isn't going to be Grundy level good.

Phillips was decent at ground level. Took a good mark, tackled, second efforts, 1% etc. The alternative is TBC...
Can you imagine TBC in slippery conditions? He'd slip over at every opportunity he can get. Give me Phillips every day of the week over TBC.

Mate Grundy was clearly their best player last week, and whilst Phillips was decent both games, let's not kid ourselves. Grundy beat him, as did Goldy tonight.

My original post was in response to a post stating Phillips was “very very good” and “we can’t ask for much more”

I am not saying TBC would have done better, but to suggest Phillips has been great or even good is an absolute over reaction.

An argument can be made for a head clash being the cause of any head injury sustained by Norf guy.
