But he played a whole 3/4 of bruise free footy where he was handed the footy on a plate by Mirkov, baffling work at the selection table.
Strange one isnt it ?
Why would they play him for 3 quarters and not 4 after being the sub a couple of games ago and not playing at all that week .
The kid needs to play as much as possible to gain match fitness one would think .
From match fitness you get battle hardened .
If your match fit your running both ways i just have no idea what they are doing with Dow .
Are they worried about injuries he was carrying last year ?
Strange very strange .

Decent if he gets a clean break at the centre bounce, but he's executing a 30m kick directly in front of him. He's working on it, but in that respect he's not better than anyone he's replaced.

You think Williams, Murphy and SPS were spraying their inside 50 entries? Really?
Difference between spraying them and bombing them in long. Our delivery inside f50, like many other aspects of our game needs alot of work.

The selections this week just prove that the cupboard is a bit bare at the next level at the moment. Apart from Parks coming back they are pretty uninspiring and considering the ins and out they haven't made the team any better.

Nor have they addressed the major issues.

Owies doesn't have the X factor to play small forward at AFL level. Would've preferred someone like honey who has X factor speed

Agree. Like what Honey brings - speed, hard at the ball, seems to have good goal sense.
There was debate about Owies a week or 2 ago, in that he only kicks goals as a result of the hard work of others. I said then and will repeat now, I’m happy for him to kick goals no matter how he does it. Not sure we’re in a position to be picky with the manner in which goals are kicked.
Shame JSOS didn’t get up - we’re noticeably better with him in the side.

Tackling is our cryptonite, we are top 8 in most statistical areas the one area we have gone backwards, and that’s hard to do considering we weren’t that good to start with, is tackles where we are 14th and inside 50 tackles 16th, fixing this weakness will go a long way to getting us playing better footy. Setters by the way is leading the VFL in this area which is another reason he should have been in before Dow.
Yes setters has turned up the heat to his previous standards and Cunningham had big numbers in the VFL also -- maybe we should bring the two VFL coaches to main box ..

Well when you say older ones who do you mean?

Murph is out (for one reason or other)

Betts I think stays because he can actually apply forward pressure and Owies has come in to add more to that.

Levi, though struggling still works hard and puts in, and with omac and TDK injured, no one exists on the list to replace him.

Now there are others like Newnes who I believe should be put on notice as well, even Doch if he doesn’t start playing more accountable football and stop butchering the football.
Betts and Newnes the most glaring when compared with Samo. Had it less, used it worse, poor defensively…

Paddy Dow, Seriously?

He's played 3 good quarters in a reserves match against weak opposition in 6 weeks so far................but he's young, so why not? I think that's what some are suggesting, his age and the fact that he was selected high in the draft mean he must be included. If he was selected on the basis of having played well in an unofficial practice match against this mob then we have serious problems with selection criteria.

If we were serious about developing him he should have spent another 3 or 4 weeks in the reserves after what he's previously shown in the seniors. I want him to get every chance of making a success of his AFL career, the way he's currently being managed is questionable to me.

Lots of weirdness on our site lately. We scream for the kids to be played and then they’re played and we scream.

I like Walsh back 50/50 to wing too for now.

Wveryone needs to get math into their heads. There is 300 percent of game time available for the centre square mids. Cripps takes 80-85. Unless people are actually wanting Ed dropped (ffs) he gets 80-85. It doesn’t leave heaps for Walsh, Cunners and Dow. If Walsh plays 40 wing and 40 mid it leaves 80 max for the others. That doesn’t leave heaps yet for Dow and Cunners. Dow will get more this week and Cunners will go back to more half forwsrd and a bit mid. Dow may only get 70 percent (max) game time. sh*t happens. He needs to get 17 possesions and be clean. And chase. That would be a great outcome.
I would like to let Walsh build his inside game slowly like Brisbane is with mccluggage (spelling🤢) I don't want to see him battered to crap by 25
