Not saying Henry looked comfortable or good. But he looks like a young AFL-level footballer to me, with some smarts and some 'touch', who is nowhere near the pace of the game yet, so his skills seem off. He will need a lot of time and a lot of games.

Also I am not gonna defend Grundy either but I’ve gotta say, the connection between our midfield and Brodie is in shambles. It has been for 12-18 months now. He had 39 hit outs tonight. So as bad as we say he is he is still getting first use for us. But I’m
not sure if it’s a combination of a lack of experience in there or it’s Adams and Pendles being our #1 and #2 and they’re trying to shoulder too much load but I constantly see Adams on the fly over run a ball or Pendles sits waiting for someone to hand him the footy, Pendles doesn’t have Swan Beams Ball and co to feed it to him anymore and he looks slow, we push our blokes into the contest and they get first hands at the footy, then we look reactive and have to spend all our tickets chasing. I will also say, we get smashed around the ball and bodied way too much, we lack in height something shocking and we don’t have any guys apart from Sidey who are quick with their hands. How many times do big bodied tall mids like Cripps, Fyfe, Bont etc tear us up and bring their teammates into it. Or a Titch with fast hands just make us look slow and second rate.
Ive said this numerous times but we lost the granny in 2018 because we got smashed in contested ball.
We lost in 2019 to the Giants because we got smashed in contested ball.
And last year in 2020 we lost to Geelong because we got smashed in contested ball.
Our midfield is simply not good enough, it’s time we stop playing blokes like Sier JT WHE Ruscoe etc, push Pendles forward to add some class and polish around goals or to a HBF and get guys into the middle who are willing to crack in and get us some first use.
Adams had a mare tonight but usually he gives it his all. JDG I’m happy to have some more sightings. Play Rantall. Play Macrae. Play Poulter. Put Daicos back on a wing and expose him around the ball, he is slick and fast. I’d like to see Crisp on a wing more.
Once we start to readdress the on ball concerns, we can focus on our polish around goal. We know our defence will always keep us in games but before we can even worry about kicking a winning score we need to do the basically fundamental shit right. TLDR it’s not all Grundy’s fault. But damn we need to improve around the ball.

Yep. They knew - after a discussion about the whole racism saga at Collingwood, they then proceeded to name every player by their proper name. Except IQ. They knew who he was. But for some reason know only to them they were “dryly” referring to him as Harry O and it didn’t take a genius to decipher that as shorthand for being a black player.
in the interest of banter and free speech I’m pretty tolerant. I’ve grown up in times where much worse things were said. But I’m not stupid and I don’t appreciate an insinuation that I’m looking for a reason to be outraged. If I didn’t think it warranted attention I wouldn’t have ever raised it as an issue.
I have listened to Leon Davis and Travis Varcoe be abused in years gone by and I won’t stand for it any more. I’m more interested in how you would think this is not insulting to label someone by the colour of their skin under the guise of “banter” for someone who plays For the team you support?

Moore could dye his hair pink and I’d think it’s ok. Seriously, with the footballer he’s become, he can pretty much do anything and I’d be happy.
Young Dakes on the other hand, has fallen for the retro 80s look. It’s spreading with Covid-like speed through AFL ranks. I can’t see an end in sight.
If he can't break into our strongest line in defence then surely it's worth trying Murphy as a forward in place of either young Ruscoe or Henry who need more time to develop at the lower level.
Murphy played at both ends at U18 level, at this stage we have little to lose and it's about time we see if he has anything to offer at AFL level a couple of years down the track from his debut season.

BOG by a long shot was Darcy Moore. Our defence aside from Madgen were flawless, I’d love togive Keane a proper run at it in his place.
IQ is building to be a star, Noble through the middle is a disaster it’s a much more sophisticated game further up the field. I’d love to throw Maynard in the middle and allow Noble to snipe from the backline. Noble is soft (I hate that in a player), Maynard on the other hand might just be the elixir we need to pair with Adam’s on ball. We are pushed around and bullied way too much.

Sier is equally done in my book. we seriously lack depth in the middle now, we will have to beg borrow and steal from Defence to make it work.
We need more of Maynards mongrel. I’d almost make him captain. Haven’t been a fan of Pendles as captain for some time now.
We might be having another fire sale to trade out Grundy the way he’s going. I despise the attitude of these new age kids, “there is more to life than football...I struggled in the hub...my feelings”. Get stuffed play football and shut up with your politically correct nonsense. There could not be a harder time to coach players, how could you possible relate to these muppets.
Cox was great I thought. Took some grabs, missed some also. Tough night again with our delivery.
Howe will build some confidence, but wasn’t at his bouncy best. Thank god for Moore!
Our midfield unit and transition play is woeful. It’s not our forwards that are the problem.
Degoey can stick his $1m contract up his arse. Play for four quarters and a full season and then we can talk.
Pendles had a shocker. Is not the leader that we require at the moment, I’ve been on that for quite some time. He’s too soft,which doesn’t diminish his impact for us because he’s pure class. I just think captains need to lead from the front in all facets of the game.
Adams woeful game. Missed kicks didn’t get the ball, what is going.I put it down to our tactics and coaching.
Elliot and Mihocek were our better forward half players. They tried to make things happen in tough conditions.
WHE not the worst either, tried to make things happen as well. That kick to Elliot was class and part arse!
We must improve our clearance work and delivery stat!!!!!!!

you didnt answer the question... You have said unequivocally that Buckley will be coaching this year for his job and not for the football club and it's future chances of a flag. So given that... do you want him to remain as coach for the year? If what you say is true, would a prudent board keep him in the job this year?
Too or as well? Who can say. I did not witness that event so I cannot have a decisive opinion about it

It’s a recurrent theme, I know I’ve hand picked these games but these are the most important 3 games we’ve played in each of the last 3 seasons and given the absolute HO dominance and ascendancy we’ve had look at the Clearance and CP’s numbers we bring up too. If Adams isn’t winning us a clearances, who the **** is? We legit have nobody. It’s pathetic. We always blame our forwards, but honestly, if we can’t win it at the coal face and give our forwards a chance 1 on 1 then what’s the point in complaining when we pump it in there when teams have had time to flood back and help with numbers. Grundy was colossus in 2018/19 so I’m honestly asking you, yes he has a role to play but to constantly flag him as the million dollar issue is bullshit. Why not start having a crack at our midfield group as a whole. I cannot remember the last time we played a top team and won that wasn’t because of our defence. Our mids are reactive and soft as butter, they always play outside to their opponent and expect Grundy to hit it over the top. He hasn’t done that in years and he’s no NN so why do they continue to do it?

Grundy had 10 hit-outs directly sharked by the opposition.
He's our $1m man - yes our midfield is average, but he's the barometer. And was tonight again an unmitigated disaster.
