I thought Howe played well in light of it being his first game back, so that was a positive. Cox was good, he seemed to be everywhere and was a little unlucky in some marks not sticking. Darcy, what more is there to say, he was outstanding.

There were a number of our reliable performers having an absolute shocker in Crisp, Pendles, Maynard, Grundy. Couple that with inexperienced youngsters such as Ruscoe, Brown, Henry looking a mile off the pace and we get what we got. My man Jamie wasn’t overly influential either.

On to next week.

I said this in the game day thread, but we used to be a team who could develop solid players from a rookie etc. We now seem to be a team who lets players stagnate or ruins them DeGoey should be a superstar should have been developed, big body good skills but he has stagnated, pops up for a game or so(is he a mid like his junior years or fwd). Same with the young guys Daicos and even the Brown brothers who people criticise they all have a real go but don't seem to improve or are constantly changed position wise, I blame our structure and development which comes back to our coaching staff. For the couple of brilliant players in your team you need to develop the good role players around them from the lower picks. So how long do we give all our coaching staff?

No surprises. Pretty much what I expected.

Our defence will keep us in games, but our forward line issues haven’t changed.

This should be Buckley’s final year. No questions asked.
Definitely questions should be asked if we make finals again, which is still a definite possibility at this point, it's round 1.

Considering we were not favourites against a side touted as a contender, made a shit tonne of mistakes, have them a 3 goal head start and lost by under 3 goals is not the end of the world or reason to start with the Buckley must go shit (however most never need a valid reason for that).

The key question is if we can do better than what we produced tonight. Some lineup changes need to happen I think.

Negatives first if we lose positives first if we win

Negatives

- Absolute continual butcher job of golden opportunities going forward when we have them at our mercy. A consistent problem. If midfielders and half forwards can’t capitalise in this area then they need to go. Not good enough.

- Grundy contract is going to be a huge issue if he wants huge coin but we lose games and he doesn’t win Brownlows. I can’t believe after the off season we have had we are still over paying our top players and reducing our ability to recruit players or keep fringe players.

- I knew our midfield was shallow but the first half centre work was woeful and more of the same from last year just like our shithouse efficiency inside 50.

Positives

- Thanks defense for saving our percentage. You guys keep us in games far longer than we deserve. Although - some shit defending on leads at times.

- Effort and courage is there across the board.

please tell me which Coach in his last year of contract has not Coached to save his job.
You are in a fantasy world if you think otherwise.
So now you're arguing that because other coaches do it it's ok for Bucks to do it... and we should all just accept this self before club attitude as supporters Please tell me the logic behind your reasoning there.

and then tell me... if what you say is correct... i.e. ... Bucks will coach this year for his job, not for a future premiership build... are you ok with that? Is that the best thing for the Collingwood footy club? Why?

You've dug yourself a hole here Spinny.

I actually don't think he's as selfish and soulless as you make out.

Good to see Brodie Grundy is still the most overpaid player in the history of football.

What an embarrassment.

You had me , till you mentioned Pendles , had an absolute shocker, you indeed are a Dinosoar

I don’t need to defend Buckley - I’m quoting human nature for all Coaches in his position - self preservation.
They do whatever it takes to maximize wins and that probably means far less experimenting than you and others want, in the case of Buckley.

This is going to be a bit negative but after that performance tonight there is nothing really positive. Honestly very worrying we were atrocious and lucky it was only 3 goals. 53 points in a game which the AFL has done everything to allow you to score. Some of the players are just not good enough. This year if there is no turn around and I am a Buckley lover but geez you can't serve up this every week unfortunately this may be his last year.

Absolute stinkers tonight
- Grundy
- Hoskin Elliott
- [/b]Maynard
- JT
- Ruscoe

Poor

- Rest of team

Exceptional
- Moore

Lol what? There’s about 10 guys ahead of him..

Spot them a 3 goal start, and battle out a 16 point loss when the game was never really on our terms. Disappointing result and effort but we weren't far away

Just got to sort our connection out forward of the ball, sadly that might be something we mention all year long.

Felt for Henry and Ruscoe having to play in that forward line tonight too, on a hiding to nothing those boys

Spinny, serious question, do you think bucks is the right coach? Do you want him extended? It’s not just one game btw, it’s the same we watched all last year. It’s putrid football we dish up. less than 10 goals each game is not winning a flag

We have an unbalanced list 11 or 12 players on our list who have not played a senior game.
We have Ruscoe who has played 6 or so , Henry and Keane one each and Cameron an maybe 5 games. Kelly one
Tony Shaw to his credit in his last year blooded all the kids. in his last year
Buckley is still persisting with Thomas WHE Roughead . same burnt out players
Our commitee should grow some bulls sack Buckley and Sanderson , and put Harvey as interim coach until the end of the year with the objective of giving at least 10 of these kids a go this year
Please.
Shaw didn't start 99 playing kids, once we lost our first 7 or whatever then he did the right thing.

WHE and JT were poor, I thought Roughy was pretty good.

Apart from Moore, it was our top liners that let us down - Grundy, Adams, Howe, DeGoey were all well beaten.

A weird game, as apart from them jumping us early, we did OK. Sure they had huge numbers, but all rubbish lil 10m chips.

It was our ability to completely balls up some easy scoring chances with dropped marks, horrible shanks that cost us in the end.

Not so much about the result but...

Disappointing and sickening. Pies supporter in front of us calling Isaac Quaynor “Harry O”

It’s ok to be disappointed in your team not doing well. But racism is never ok. We both told the guy to call him by his name. We didn’t hear a peep from him the rest of the night.

Stand up, be heard, call it out and help stamp out casual racism. That dickhead did not deserve a seat

I think Buckley will not be reappointed unless he proves himself worthy - which means Top 4. Regardless I trust Graham Wright has the smarts and influence to ensure the right decision is made on Buckley, whatever that may be.

I’m no Buckley fan, but that was a very odd game and not one I would use to pot him.

I don’t remember a single game where a team has gone at 46 possessions per goal and won. The way the dogs played was yuck the key for me was we allowed them to do it through a lack of workrate and pressure around the ball. We on the other hand looked pretty fluid when we got our hands on it. With the way we moved it if we had a 150 possession differential we win by 10 goals. MagpieJoel was right it felt like a blowout loss, but there was enough there from a system POV to not be too concerned. That’s not to pot the Bulldogs because I think they’ll tighten that up.

The scariest thing for me is that was the precise performance I was worried about triggering a return to our stodgy over possessing worst. The easiest way to counter that amount of ball to your opposition is to slow the game go backwards and sideways. That’s the last thing we want.

The precise thing for you, is that you have not played football at any level,

One of which Naughton “marked” and goaled from. Ugh...

Oh wow.. you've jumped ship on Bucks... after all these years of tireless and unwavering support... thousands of posts... just like that...after round 1.. Not only jumped ship but throwing him under the bus...
Watch this space folks...

But no.. you are wrong.. not all people succumb to that. Some people do manage to put the collective, an ideal, a morality, a cause, above their own personal ego and self interest. It's as rare as hens teeth these days I will give you that though. Doesn't mean we should just accept it. Shouldn't we aspire to more from our leaders?
