The big thing is we don't have one but three capable marking forwards making the defenders crap themselves. Same thing happened to us for a quarter against Brisbane.
If we win enough clearances and get the ball in, then even if it's a rushed kick we're putting some serious pressure and doubt on those defenders. They also have to worry about some currently A grade smalls with Gray and Butters plus their sidekicks and the pressure coming from SPP. I don't think it's one dimensional at all.

Watching the replay now. So how much of a cheap shot merchant is Tom Lynch?! Cat.
(No, not a "dog", for dogs are noble creatures. Cats are sly and snarky)

He's Shane Mumford if Shane Mumford could actually play footy. 'Clumsy' and 'accidental' contact galore.

Good problem to disagree on. Woodcock creative with ball and one touch. Ebert better overhead and tackling machine. I just like speed in our forward 50

Oh and look, I genuinely worry for Ebert’s health and would be happy for him to retire for his own sake and have Woodcock / Motlop take that spot, but then I am not his doctor and do not know the full facts.

Also in his favour, Ebert can be moved to both midfield and wing as a rotation.

And yes, having depth is a great problem to finally have!

I'm at the point where I believe that our best football is as good as anyone. That hasn't been the case since 2014 and before that 2004.

I have 2 main concerns.

Firstly, mental application. Can we maintain the confidence or will we drop off? What happens when an experienced, cocky but less talented team like West Coast challenge us in finals? Do we rise to the challenge or go into our shells?

Second concern I have is Brisbane. They have our measure and they likely have home field advantage. It's a big, big hurdle for us to overcome - and there won't be a chance to test ourselves against them until we meet in a big final.

We are going to lose more games. That is a given. But our best I believe is good enough to beat everyone this year. We are a genuinely good team this year.

1) We’ll only find out once we’re there. My biggest concern is goal kicking from our biggest asset up there.
2) Re Brisbane, I don’t think they have our measure at all. If we can get a much better result from our midfield who were very average against them last time but hopefully would have learnt from it, then we’ll see how they stack up against our forward line.

A vulnerability is the ability for better teams to score goals from fast break plays from defence. It doesn't hurt as much as in past years as we have more scoring potential. Plus we are capable of mounting comebacks after falling behind. We struggled with that in past. Once falling behind it was close to game over.

I’m happy for the way our forward press often results in fast break goose goals to the opposition... as long as we make the most of the scoring opportunities that press provides us. Generally, at the moment, we don’t. Charlie taking his chances is the keystone improvement here, and I’m confident Charlie at least knows that.

Centre clearance runs have been more of a concern for me.

I feel much more confident about that since the new Rocky came back.

What do we call him now?

Rocky III?

Rocky I - Brisbane accumulator
Rocky II - Port stagnator
Rocky III - Port, The Wall

For me it depends how we lose. If we lose from beaten for speed in the midfield and our defense not being able to handle multiple 195cm+ tall forwards then we'll make finals, but won't be a flag threat, as we're going to face teams that'll bring that on top of finals pressure during finals games.
