Hopefully enough of the shine has rubbed off them for us to get a win Friday night. We're not exactly setting the world on fire. Too many players with niggles and patchy form for mine.

Certainly neither team is at their best. Makes for a very nail-biting proposition imo....

Ps. Just noticed your avatar. Excellent work, sir. :thumbsu:

It's funny that most players are performing well individually but we're not quite clicking as a team.
I'd think that some of that may just be for the adjustment to Malthouse's plans and then a re-adjustment to what services us best.
You can see it in players where they want to go through the middle and then have to correct themselves and work the boundary

Match Committee dilemma's:

1. Warnock or Casboult? Bring in the better ruck-man or settle to lose some of the centre for better around the ground work?
2. Bell out? We'll need the bigger bodies over the next few weeks, so do we judge Bell on the one quarter he had yesterday?
3. Menzel out? Didn't get a lot of it yesterday but his class was finally on display where it counts. Stick with him and know we'll be better for it in weeks to come?
4. Bootsma out? He's just starting to shape into the team. If no suitable match-ups available then he may have to head back to the VFL.
5. Cachia? Doing enough but what if Carrazzo is available?

Probable Inclusions: Judd & Betts
Possible Inclusions: Warnock, Lucas & Carrazzo...................and a long shot: Laidler.

Best guess team:

Tuohy Jamison White
Walker Henderson Scotland
Gibbs McLean Simpson
Yarran Waite Robinson
Betts Casboult Garlett

Kreuzer Judd Murphy

Armfield Cachia Curnow Bootsma

INS: Judd Betts
OUT: Bell Menzel........:(

I think if anything, that we'll err on the side of defence rather than of attack for this match.

Carrots didn't come across as being very positive about next week so I expect him to play in the magoos in the bye round (if they have a game?). I was convinced Judd would not play yesterday as he had either groin or driver issues the previous week and could not kick with any penetration. Hopefully a week off and some pain killers and he can get up this week. Eddie obviously slots in. So probably just 2 changes with Bell and Menzel the unlucky ones.

I don't think Boots has done anything wrong to get dropped and don't think there is much pressure from anyone else to replace him. However, can we get him living with Rita Silvagni and get some meat on his bones. Cannibals would only use him for making stock.

I think we have to stick with Bell and Cachia over the next month, Bell had one bad quarter you cannot judge on that, I say we give Cashboult another game we need someone who can take some pack marks and Warnock is just a one trick pony, for someone that tall who can't mark is unforgivable. At least Cashboult will hit the packs hard and cause some damage and clunk a few marks as well.

But as far as I am concerned Bell and Cachia are a must over the next month. I don't know could be just me, but seeing Bell,Cachia and Robbo in the middle makes us look a lot bigger and stronger. I would say the Bootsma (unlucky), Menzel (unlucky) would be the two that will get dropped, Carazzo is no way near match fitness and nether will Betts be.

I am also a bit sus on Waite. Didn't seem all that convincing about being up for next week

What gave you that impression? Said he had a knock on the top of his knee but all good and doesn't require a scan?

Hey fellas- just letting you know that we hate you just as much as you hate us- and that I'm hoping for a good game between our clubs yet again. The past couple of time's I've watched you blokes Henderson has been playing forward, will that happen this week? Whenever I watch he always seems to be your best Key Forward, and that maybe he should be forward and Bootsma plays as your 3rd tall back. I think we'll be playing Baguley on Betts, Hibberd on Garlett and Browne/Hardingham/Ashby/Dempsey (in the 0.00000001% chance he'll play) on Yarran. I'd also expect Hooker on Waite (have had some good battles), Carlisle on Henderson and Fletcher on Kruezer/Casboult. Good luck and I think the dons will get up in a tight one

Where Hendo plays may be determined by where or if Hurley is playing.

Will be interesting to see how Hibberd goes on Garlett.

Poor Baguley will need some help. He is an honest defender but Betts will make it hard for him.

I think if he does get up he'll replace Crameri in the 22, if he doesn't, Daniher will make his debut

Pig did a pretty good job on him at the start of last year IIRC, but Garlett was out of form then. People always talk about how good his drive out of defence is, but he's a defender first and rebounder second. Beats his man 7/10 times.

I think Betts may take some time to adjust to the game, he's missed quite a few weeks and Baguley has been good in most games so far this year (Good jobs on Milne, Elliot, Christenson and King recently)

Hope we pummel them for obvious reasons, but also lately it seems the supporters have been exposed as particularly arrogant sods, they deserve everything that comes to bite them.

Crameri replaced? Is he injured?

Gumbleton would be out by my reckoning.

Crameri is a flat track bully, and apart from last night, has been thoroughly outplayed by gumby every single time, so I think he's in line to get dropped

Early sportsbet odds

Ess 1.70
Carl 2.05

Glad to see we will prob go in as underdogs. It's a position we haven't had against the drug cheating scum for some time.

Everyone knows that form means nothing when it comes to these games.

Interesting to hear Mick say at the presser after the yest that he has changed the game plan and let the players play the game in a matter where they feel happy. Don't think the pressing style of footy suits us.

Think Walker will take Winderlich and White to go to Crameri. I think Bell is probably the easiest omission going by yesterday (he didn't get much of a go, but when he did come on he wasn't great). Menzel may go as well, and although he may not deserve it, he is young and will undoubtedly get his opportunity soon. Boots is the toughest one for mine, he gives us flexibility to swing Hendo forward, and also an option on one of their forwards who is getting off the chain on someone else. Whilst I'm not necessarily opposed to having Carrazzo play in the 2s (if he is in fact ready), I'm 90% sure he came straight back in against Freo last year after a long layoff, and he played quite well. So don't count him out.

What went wrong with cramers last night? Is he injured?

Not a great game at all by his standards

Agree, Crameri absolutely destroyed us in R4 last year, but then again we had Bower on him all day, whose no longer at the club. But I do agree with eth-dog that he predominantly plays well against the lower teams. I've never seen him take the game by the scruff against a decent side.

The mdifield is where it will be won. If Carrots doesn't play, I'm not sure who we will assign to Watson. I believe if we stop Watson, we win. Cachia has done some really good run with roles of late but Watson is elite and in a different class. O'Keefe destroyed Watson yesterday and that shows it goes a long way to beating the Dons if you limit the skipper's influence.

We need Murph back to somewhere near his best form. He's really down at the moment and generally loves playing the Dons. He has burnt them in recent times.

Injuries are starting to kick in again at Bomberland. Oppositions are figuring us out too easily. I believe we are constantly improving and are ahead of at least 9 teams in the comp. unfortunately Carlton is not one of those teams. Not a mile off the Blues. That's for sure, but not quite there yet.

Perfect game to debut Daniher. Big occasion for a young kid to show what he's got.
Swans did this with Mitchell last night. He will probably feature nearly every week now and make a player like Jetta earn his spot now.
Daniher can hopefully put that kind of pressure on Crameri and Gumbleton
