Autopsy Round 11 = Collingwood 51-61 Geelong

Collingwood reminded me of those athletes in the qualifiers of the 800 metres Olympic event. The top few athletes slow down to a walk over the final 20 metres while the duds put in a gut busting finish and actually close the gap enough to say:
'Gee, the hot favourite only bested me by 2 seconds.' 🙄

Positive: Bianco.

Forget the rest ever happened. Speak not of it at all.
Well nobody was there to see it, so did it really even happen? I don't think its going to take long to wipe it from my memory. Awful to watch for the most part

His job isn't to build momentum. He's playing a lock down defensive role and doing it very well with good pressure and today some nice intercept marks. Having Mayne as the tight small/medium defender releases others like Crisp, Quaynor and Noble.

If you're talking about going back behind the mark and pausing 22 others were guilty of the same today, so it's clearly an instruction.

Not his role? Lol. You think his instructions are to mark, wait and kick 15m? He has done it every game in black and white.

Are you giving bucks credit for that? Waiting till the last quarter! Most fans have scene the same crap for 2 years.
Why wouldn’t I? He’s the guy who instructs the players.

Mayne he gets plenty of the ball but he is a momentum killer. Every kick is short sideways or backward. He has no vision or intent.
Maybe so but he is trying his guts out. I find Sidebottom more frustrating and I'm sick of him taking a mark and holding up play until his kick is rushed & nearly smothered when the ump calls him to play on or his kicks that land 2m short of the target.

We need Mayne's leadership atm and he's an auto start in our best until others step up and show his desperation.

De Goey as the main man in the guts.. and build around him in the next coupla with Nick and Bianco and these types.. that's what I'd be looking at. Snag another brut in trade to support De Goey..

If we pull the plug on some of our veterans.. or lesson their roles.. wouldn't be a bad thing.
Agree, we just need to remove the elephant in the room.

I actually think we were the better team for the majority of play today. There's a huge lack of confidence and experience gap between the two teams.

I'm wrapped with some of our young players. IQ, Murphy, Bianco and Poulter all showing signs they will be good at the level.

I am worried about Pendles as our captain given his increasing skill errors and Maynard's lack of form.

Hopefully this is the bottom out, if not we are in serious trouble, that was the most difficult thing to watch.
The list is in terrible shape, the game plan is the worst in the league and almost unwatchable.
I watch this club now with no emotion, they have sucked all enjoyment out of watching them play every week.

Honestly feel like this is us bottoming out - which in the grand scheme of things, isint all bad.

We have won only two games this year and lost to Port and Lions by a point and Geelong by 10.

Bianco is going to be a star, Poulter a very handy player and Beau will be solid.

Wilson, Mccrae and Henry I’m not yet sold on, and they may never make the grade. Murphy will make the grade but will be nothing special.

I can’t see how we get much worse than where we are now, especially as we are not relying on aging players. Pendlebury is on the decline, as is Sidebottom.

The new core is there, Moore, Grundy, JDG and Maynard.

The next crop is Quaynor, Sier and the like.

Then we seen how the new kids come on.

I’m cautiously optimistic. But we’re 2-3 years away at least.

Lucky to get 15k vs Freo at Marvel after the Bye

That'll be a good crowd
It's against an interstate team and going by this board no one likes going to Marvel
I know when I'm in Melb I make sure I'm there for MCG games

1 goal to 3 quarter time is our worst at the MCG sine the 1800’s.

We’re really going places!

and what of the flag contender kept to 3 goals after halftime, and 8 goals for an entire qtr.
They were made to look ordinary by a team full of kids.
Scott expected a percentage booster and nearly lost.
