Yeah we are like the 2000 Eagles now, can produce some good footy in patches but can also still get smashed quite easily.

He's improved the last couple of years but he's a square peg in a round hole with Flynn in the side. We need a forward who can relieve Flynn in the ruck, and he's not a good enough forward, let alone ruck.
We're still years away from being able to finalise the list with specific positional needs too. Still need elite mids. In 2000 we had Cousins, Kerr, Fletcher, Embley and Braun (AAs, Brownlow, Norm Smith, Rosco Medals) and were a year away from Judd. We only have Harley who copped two fines and a two week suspension the first time he had to deal with a tag
Probably just extrapolating out from his history over the last four or so years.

Feels like the best game to debut Clay Hall in, even if its a sub from the bench... I think last 2 weeks in WAFL earnt him a call up myself

Yeah which is why id probably go for the sub role. Its definetly best time and game to give him a chance though
Our wafl midfields (gaff, Sheed and Culley) had trouble beating lowly wafl sides so don't hold your hopes up high.

Culley is getting very close.
The plan for his comback maybe was to build in the WAFL until mid season and consider him post bye.
Well technically this is mid season and at Optus v North may be a good option.
We need to drop a tall if he comes in though. We are starting to lack leg speed and pressure.
If we have no Kelly, Yeo, Reid, Allen and Warerman then there's a good chance we do lose. Our depth is young guys who are still developing or old guys over the hill. It is a reality of a rebuilding team, we just have to suck it up. The wheel has already started to turn, a few more pre seasons into the young guys and we'll be back.

Anyone who says this is worse than 2022-23 has quickly forgotten how bad the last 2 years were.
More than a few around here were just about ready to pack it in 9 months ago.
I dunno why people are writing off BW so quickly as a forward, he has barely even played there yet. Give him at least a couple of months to see if he adapts to a more forward role.
Hes got a great leap, hes relatively agile for a big man and can compete/crash a pack. Accuracy at goal is not unfixable, and sticky hands will come with confidence.
Contested marking vs other rucks who are bigger than him was always an issue, but vs a 2nd or 3rd defender he should have a much better shot
Could swap Hutch for JWil, still a marking target but provides some run/pressure. Hes an awkward matchup too, would be an issue for them, especially with Norths backline not being so strong
Metro has snuck under the radar a bit this

This will be a tough game I think - could very easily lose it if they show up desperate to snag a win (as they should!).
