Not efforts but performances. He wasn’t his best the two weeks and was out of the game largely. Would never fault him for effort, just consistency into impacting the game. Fredrick and Colyer have turned it up, Switkowski needs to do so
Just utter rubbish. The thing about Switta is that he offers way more than his stats show and he also rarely makes an error with ball in hand.

Tucker > Fyfe
Meek > Switta
Hughes (unlucky)> Walters

Tabs > another recovery week
Chapman > will be unavailable

Made some changes to #superkoops
Was thinking the same actually but Belly reported Walters only had hamstring tightness. Any continued tightness and I agree Hughes keeps his spot. Supposed to be a bit wet so Meek misses out and we go smaller. One thing Logue is doing well is creating a contest. Logue also played well in those wet game losses to GCS and Collingwood.

Small changes only.
In: Fyfe
Out: Tucker
Swap Switta with Crowden as Sub.

Tabs, Walters and Chappy get extra rest to come back cherry ripe.
Chapman might be out for a few weeks. Walters was hamstring tightness whereas Chapman suffered a hamstring tear. Not sure the severity but grade 2 tear is 6-8 weeks. Let’s hope it isn’t that bad.

In: Fyfe, Tabs (if fit, otherwise Treacy)
Out: Tucker, Meek (still of the view the teams better off with Treacy there instead of him personally)

I assume Chappy won’t be fit otherwise he’d be straight in for Hughes but otherwise I’m struggling how to bring Sonny and Switta in, assuming they don’t want to drop Banfield after that performance. Maybe Hughes out anyway, shuffle Aish back, move Colyer higher up the ground and bring Switta back that way? Do not envy match committee

I'm a massive pessimist but I think if it's wet we should still be alright in this one. There's a bit of belief there. Hopefully they can adjust and reign in the over possessing for a more direct approach.

Watching the Hawks/Pies game and Hawthorn made a big comeback once the heavens opened up. This won't be an easy game and will be a big tick for JL if we can win a wet weather game against a plucky opponent. Our midfield should dominate especially if Fyfe is back but can we get good opportunities at goal with a slippery footy?

I think Switta is almost as highly rated internally as GOATfield so I'd expect him to come straight back in.

Hope the experienced guys like Mundy, Fyfe, Walters remind this young group about our history against Hawthorn and be relentless if we get on top.

Hawthorn showed us no mercy even during our dominant period under Ross.

We are currently on a 3 game winning streak against the Hawks best ever since JL took over.

And no Freo coach has beaten Hawks 4 times before Connelly and Longmuir on 3 wins each.

Tucker —> Switta

Walters and Chappy, with the bye round coming up, don’t risk their hammies, easy decision not to include them.

Tough decisions on Tabs and Fyfe. Meek really nullified Brisbane’s advantage, but if Tabs is fit. He’s a must in.

Meek -> Tabs

Which is really in terms of roles:

Lobb —> Tabs
Meek —> Lobb

Personally watching Fyfe and the speed of the game against Brisbane, another 2 weeks in the wafl to be cherry ripe against Carlton. Wouldn’t mind him bossing the Cripps sniper.

Creepy coming out of retirement?

Would it kill any of the journos to ask what the injury situation is? It used to happen every week and now it doesn't at all.

The club would know the hamstring situation for Chapman and where it's at for Tabs and Walters.

It's just not possible to bring in 5 players to that side but they're all absolutely vital ins.

I lean towards giving players more time to recover- its only Switowski in for Tucker and if Taberner is 100 percent fit he can come in for Meek.

If the game is going to be wet, I would be leaving out Tabs. I like what Tabs provides, but Logue provides a good contest and is a better defensive presence.

Too early to bring back Chapman if it’s a torn hammie.

Switta is tough and applies good pressure so I would bring him in over Tucker. Tucker tries hard, but the other mids are putting in dominant performances of late.

Fyfe would come in and I would slot him into the midfield, with a bit of time forward, just to create match-up issues for Hawks. Would take Meek out given the conditions.

Not sure about Walters. I can’t recall whether he plays well in the wet. If so, I guess he comes in to provide us some x-factor in our forward line. I’d probably take Banfield out, but that is a harsh call given he just kicked 4 goals.

Tucker is finished unless we are decimated with injuries. Exposed for speed and decision-making, the better the team has gotten the worse he looks.

Has he taken just a one year contract with us or two? He might be better off seeking an opportunity back home - I reckon Roos or Essendon might give him a look.

I can't recall a season where selection has been as tough as this. There is a Best 22 but the quality left out means there are legitimately 4 or 5 players who could consider themselves unlucky to be left out; it's a credit to the club and the system.

In: Fyfe, Tabs (Treacy if Tabs not fit) and Switta
Out: Hughes (did he do his hammy?), Meek and Banfield (goes to the medi-sub) and yes I know Banfield kicked 4 but the reality is that Switta is better and tough decisions get made

I am biased towards the psychological factors but i am not convinced we cant play wet.
I think our recent losses were less about the weather and more about getting ahead of ourselves (GAOOS).
Fortunately they were also the medicine for gaoos!
Also handy was that Dees and Lions were having a bout of it as well, only they also lost to us!
Eight pointers! They big both ways.
We will deal with the wet weather monkey on saturday!

If it's wet I genuinely think Logue forward is the difference (plus Fyfe's supreme wet skills). We won the i50 count in both game's but got smashed by the defence, I think Logue halves most of those and grabs one or two. Interesting to see how we go. Make no mistake Hawks are plenty capable in the wet of making us pay, will be good to see if the boys have learnt from the last two times the weather came to play.
