Prediction Round 13: Changes Vs Hawthorn + pre-match discussion

Thank God the West at least photoshops our lads as positive cultural icons instead of dressing us up as women every other week.

Pretty sure Fyfe, Brayshaw and Taberner were all given lovely Sunday evening gowns for reason's I can't fathom.
Yeah, that was Quarterbrain at his best, with a "How to lose a game in ten seconds" gaffe. What a spanner.

Banfield was pretty ordinary in the first half, Logue was dropped after better games imo. He won’t be dropped nor should he be but his pressure acts were down which is supposed to be his role right? I think this was a Nyhuis situation, a perfect storm, right place right time and he was integral to winning us the game but I won’t be confident of seeing it again.

Fyfe & Switta for Meek and Tucker. I’m not sure Tabs, Walters & Chappy will be right this week. I think Tabs definitely should take the extra week.

Tucker and Meek make way for Fyfe and Switta.
I don't think Walters is a walk up start in the best 22 anymore and we don't need 3 rucks in the rain.
Chappy to come in for Hughes when fit.

It's hard to make changes to a winning team but these are my thoughts:

Fyfe for Tucker
Taberner (if fit) or Treacy for Meek
Switta for Colyer
Colyer - Medi-Sub

I think Hughes is important for balance through the backline and we would be remiss to try and force changes for talent that hurt our structure. If Chappy was fit i'd say bring him back, but Hughes did the job well enough yesterday.
Banfield was simply too good to not have his form rewarded. However, he should know that Walters and Colyer are breathing down his neck.
Taberner or Treacy to come into the lineup simply because I think they will provide more to the contest around the ground and Fridge shouldn't need the help against a team without dominant ruckmen. Treacy or Taberner will need to take a few CBAs as ruck IMO as Lobb has been too pivotal for us. He is wasted coming into the middle IMO.
Crowden been killing it in the twos and would hate for him to lose form sitting on a bench. Back to Peel until there is another injury or maybe medi-sub in a couple weeks.

OK Ok, we've all had our bit of fun potting Bailey Banfield. It's time to put this to bed.

R1 - 10 disposals, Kicked 1.2 Played his role. TICK
R2 - Shitshow. Kicked 0.0 Schultz 0.0 Frederick 0.1 Tough day for forwards.
R3 - 6 marks, kicked 1.1 Played his role. TICK
R4 - Sub
R5 - 10 Disposals, Kicked 2.2 TICK
R6 - Sub
R7 - Sub
R8 - 18 disposals, 8 Marks, Kicked 2.3. Outstanding. TICK
R9 - Didn't hit the scoreboard, but had 11 disposals, 3 Tackles, 3 inside 50s. Schultz, Fredericks and Colyer kicked 1 goal between them. as well. PASS
R10 - Shitshow
R11 - Sub
R12 - Outstanding TICK

I'm not saying he's Wayne Carey or even best 22 when everyone is available. But I'm more than comfortable with him as depth or 23rd Man.

We need to stop potting him on reputation now though. He's better than that, and so are we.

Stop being ‘rational’

Colyer feels like the one that misses out if the MC want to keep Banfield (which is fair enough) but does he deserve to get dropped? He's played his role pretty much perfectly the whole year and it would require a rejigging of the forwardline with some change in roles because Banfield obviously cant fill his role.

He is only dropped because I think they will want to reward Banners for this week and Switta is too good to not be an inclusion.
If it was up to me I would keep him in the side. I love the speed and presence he brings to the lineup.
Medi-Sub is just a reminder that he's next in line and a victim of circumstance.

Can you see any possibility where Banners is dropped or where Switta isn't straight back into the lineup? I can't and that's why I think this is the likely outcome. Unless Freddy makes way? Not sure. Maybe I'm just being a total nuff...

I mean there is absolutely no way Freddy is getting dropped haha, but your not being a nuff, it's a hard call which is the main point I was making when people were like "it's ridiculous to drop Banfield".

I can see Banfield getting dropped still because no one else deserves to get dropped either and Switta deserves his spot back. Someone undeserving is getting dropped, welcome to playing for premiership contending team with a healthy list.

If it rains we will lose.

We try to always play dry football.
Don't write us off yet. J-Lo has proven himself a coach that can rectify game day playing problems. A little "tinker" and we're good to go! Do you remember when people said we would get smashed by Melbourne? Sumich Farms remembers.

We have Switkowski and Crowden who can take Tucker’s role and perhaps Sonny is ready too. There is no rush for Fyfe. He just played his first game in ten months. I want him for the next 4 years
There's not a lot of difference between wafl and afl in terms of aggrevating an injury if thats what you are alluding to. He only played Wafl to get some match practice up before stepping straight in to afl. It had nothing to do with protecting his body.

If you are saying you dont want to rush him back because you think the worst players in our 22 are currently better then fyfe then I'm not sure where to go with the discussion.

Wow it's really not hard people.

Tucker, Meek, Hughes and Banfield (yes Banfield) are four players that have better alternatives coming back.

Fyfe > Tucker
Taberner > Meek
Chapman > Hughes
Switkowski/Walters > Banfield

Remember if Taberner is back then that means Logue takes Banfield's spot at the third tall up forward.

It also horses for courses in regards to opposition.

In: Tabs, Switta

Out: Meek, Banfield (going to piss a bunch of you off and I do appreciate his game on the weekend but I agree with Snuff, you need to look at the larger body of work and quite simply we have better players to replace him with.

Fyfe should play another game in the WAFL and return to AFL after the bye.

Gotta fit Noddy and Walters into this team soon, going to be tough

Glad that discussion is over for the week, it's never as good or as bad as it seems and no club is in a position to sit their 2x brownlow club captain in WAFL for 3 weeks because the team is going well enough. Fyfe at 50% is better than our bottom 4 players, it's up to Fyfe and JL to find a way to make the most of him while he builds

I know it's all media speak but adding Fyfe to the forward line occasionally rolling through the midfield rotation while he finds his touch and adjusts to the system is a pretty juicy prospect.
I legit cant wait to watch him play, going to be awesome
