Anyone else who was at the game who watched the replay and came to the conclusion that first quarter, although still bad, wasn't half as appalling as it looked at the game?

Highs and lows always are magnified live at the game.

If the stats are to believed we had the ball in our front half for as much if not more time however squandered some shots at goal and giving up two late goals hurt us on the scoreboard.

Possession wise we were well down which was concerning, but part of this was how Geelong were setting up to move the ball forward for D50 to F50. Basically they were trying not to kick long to our defensive structures and were very disciplined in deliberately looking for the short kick (so a lot more kicks to move the ball forward than usual) which meant our defensive setup was too deep, and we allowing this kick .... this was one of the things we changed defensively at quarter time and it meant we forced Geelong to play the game from that point on (with the exception of about 10 minutes late in the third.

From 1/4 time on we were on top of the game, but it took some time to get in front on the scoreboard.

Excellent win.

Cheese went to another level, Sparkly looked good, everyone chipped in.

That first half was an infuriating mix of missed opportunities and getting royally rogered by the umpires, yet we still found a way to bounce back. That's one of the biggest differences. Shits going to happen its how you respond.

If I had to pick out a negative - Dixon clearly too banged up to be out there. We could actually make a finals run here so need to get him right for September. Let Lord play that role til he can actually go 100%. JHF another that needs a rest but the bye should be enough.

Geelong skipper Patrick Dangerfield was taken to hospital after copping a heavy knock during the Cats’ 38-point loss to Port Adelaide on Thursday night. The 33-year-old played out the rest of the game after suffering a blow to his lower back/hip region in a collision with Dan Houston in the second quarter. The ABC reports Dangerfield was taken in an ambulance.

Was that the incident where Rohan pushed Houston into Dangerfield? Great work from Gary there.

Happy to beat this mob by any margin at any time. That 3rd quarter was sublime.

Not sure how to gauge this game as you could see Geelong's interest wain when the pressure & heat was turned up. They are still satisfied with the premiership last year and resorted to not giving a fcuk at the end there. Those torps out of full & half back where laughable as they lost all care factor during the match.

Next match against Essendon at the MCG. Our last game this year at the G in the regular season which is an important hit out if we are going to impact the finals.

First of all amazing win! Kicking 7 goals in the premiership quarter Woweee!
Watching from Sydney I was amazed to see 36,316 attend a Thursday night game!
In comparison Walker's 250 :drunk: last Saturday at 4pm had 39,450
Hoping to see the numbers get bigger at Adelaide Oval when we take on Gold Coast
11 in a row ⚡:pear:⚡

Excuse the intrusion...

Great win last night. Really good to see other teams at the top...nice change.

I'm probably the only North supporter on BF who doesn't harbour any ill will towards Port and/or JHF.

Great you put arrogant Geelong back in their box last with the win against them 😊

Hope you guys make a good run at it in September.

Go North! 😉

Agreed re Dixon, ala Lycett he is too important to the structure of the team to risk playing him less than half fit.
He needs a good break to be hopefully fit and firing for the finals, and I believe Lord could have done at least as much as Charlie did last night.

11 in a row since Josh Carr took the reigns and Kenny has been doing the "Choco on the bench" role. It's working.

Best coaching style I've seen at the club.

The time slot sucks for kids, you can thank me for the comeback, first game for the year and I left half way through the second because Addy had enough. I missed all the goals.

What I saw, Geelong had wave numbers running past their teammate with the ball on the mark. They were easily getting out of the defence and transitioning to forward. We looked slightly off, fumbly, plus the umpires I thought kept giving them clearances. We were always in it however, which has been the case in all our wins this year, even behind we are still in it.

I did like the Stat, only teams to beat us behind at 3/4 time at home Dogs, 2016, West Coast 2018 and Geelong last year.

Probably a unpopular opinion but im playing Lord and giving Dixon an extended break.
His knee is obviously not right, needs time like Duursma.
Lycett is another who has to be managed closely to from here

I don't think it's unpopular at all, Lord showed enough that he can bring something when he replaces Dixon.

As supporters though, we don't know what kind of injury Dixon is carrying and if it does actually get any better with rest.
Does he need surgery? Is it just pain? Will playing more further the damage? We've no idea.

Lycett is more of a challenge because we've tried replacing him while his body got right and the other options came up short, well except Hayes of course 🤭

So how many of you campaigners have suddenly renewed your memberships? :$

I'll put my hand up. I did before the Bulldogs game. It is clear as day that Hinkley is not coaching this team anymore - which is all I've ever wanted. He's either going to get the arse at the end of the season (as he should), or they're going to be crazy and give him another deal. I decided that I've made my point and with the deal offered to renew I felt now was the time to do so. I've been missing going to the Footy something chronic and I couldn't bare missing another couple of years, let alone the rest of this season if they do renew him. I'm satisfied based on what I can see that Josh Carr is coaching this team, and even if that's not official, that's good enough for me. We are playing the best Football I've seen for years and after last night, I am starting to believe that we are a real chance to finally break the drought.

The only problem was I couldn't go last night because it was a bloody Thursday night game and my daughter had activities on!:'(
