Marshall’s vision is ridiculous!

Powell-Pepper is everything Ports!

JHF is going to be so ridiculous I love it, no one will mess with Butters when he matures!

Aliir was off, but it happens.

Usual SMA bullshit. There is noway 17,000 more people could have fitted in there.

I did something unusual last night and went and watched the replay on Fox Footy at the pub. There was some dumb arse crows supporter there trying to tell me we are going to play our GF in 6 weeks time - against collingwood, we won't make the GF yadha, yadha. Then he started going on about crowd and how 36,000 was a poor crowd, and I said I don't give a flying * about crowd size and I don't get an orgasm about crowds like he does. He then said you need crowds to pay me and others and thats when I noticed he had an SMA blue jacket on. I told him in no uncertain terms how corrupt and incompetent the SMA, are, they have been caught out many times and anyone who believes their crowd figures is a moron. Glad to say he didn't stick around for too long.
There was just above zero Geelong fans there too.

For those at the game, the crowd was listed at 36,316. It looked pretty full on TV. Is this accurate? It's basically sayong the ground was less than 2/3rds full.

The hill was packed and most of the lower levels were as well. Top tier stands looked a little sparse.

Was loud as **** tho'

Was a sensational game after a slow start. Flicked the switch and bang.
Marshall's ball use around the ground and vision, maturity is elite. Come a long way.
JHF, Rozee, Butters, Drew, Aliir, Houston, PP, McEntee, Lycett, Bergman, Finlayson, Sparkle were all great.
An immense team effort against a side that historically plays well against us.
Can be well satisfied with 11 on the trot.

Crowd figure seemed a nonsense to me. King William Street walking to the ground was packed, people were pouring off the buses and the queues at the gates were as busy as I've seen this year.

I thought the crowd figure would be at least 40,000.

Looked packed on tv yet some North nuftie on the main board going on about our poor crowd numbers🤣🤣

How good is Farrell the last 2 weeks, hes still learning how to find the ball back there. Feels like the opposition is cooked when he starts getting those handball recieves through the corridor.

His defensive stuff has improved out of sight this year. A much improved all round player.

Adelaide has played 7 games at home and averaged 38,571.

Port Adelaide has also played 7 games at home, but we have averaged 38,228.

38,228 is comparable to:

2018 - 38,227 (11 games)
2017 - 38,136 (11 games)

Better than

2019 - 33,950 (11 games)

And less than

2016 - 39,332 (11 games)
2015 - 43,086 (11 games)
2014 - 44,364 (11 games)

If our games against Collingwood, Richmond, Gold Coast and GWS hold up, it would be the fourth largest average crowd in Port Adelaide history. I could see us pushing over 50k if we are finishing top for our final game against Richmond.

The first two years of Adelaide Oval are an aberration. I seem to recall that the AFL had an issue with the SMA fudging numbers in the early days and over counting crowds, plus the stadium was new and it was a novelty to go to games - we got 52k to games against Carlton and Hawthorn in 2014, and 50k to the game against Sydney. 5 of our highest ever home crowds came in 2014, and 2 came in 2015. A lot of opposition supporters wanted to come to Adelaide to experience the new oval etc.

So around 38-39k is about the average crowd for a Port game since 2016 (after the novelty wore off). I reckon there's probably about 1-2k worth of Hinkley Haters who refuse to come to games that would get us over the 40k mark...but who gives a **** about them.

What I'd be concerned about if I was the SMA are Adelaide's attendances. They consistently averaged 44k+ from 2014 to 2019...but this year they are only averaging 38,571, with games against North Melbourne, GWS, Gold Coast and Sydney to come plus the Showdown.

Got an email this morning from a Collingwood fan which read, "I hope you enjoy your short time on top of the ladder." It only served to strengthen my already considerable desire to smash those muppets in round 19.
No you didn't. Why are you constantly making up imaginary interactions you've had with other team's fans?

I'm a Hinkley Hater and I haven't been in 1.5 years.

Covid ****ed the Crows because they have a very old supporter base and they became very crowd risk averse.

I got a bit of Kulcha a few weeks ago and went to a Rachmaninov concerto at the Adelaide Town Hall. The average age of the crowd was about a billion. Half of them were wearing masks.thats the Crows demographic.

They also fell off a cliff and properly bottomed out for the first time in literally 30 years, which torpedoed their ‘rain-hail-shine; win-lose-or draw’ loyalty shtick.

Just goes to show nobody’s immune from crowd fluctuations, especially in this day and age when quality entertainment can begin in the palm of your hand (pun unintended, but convenient).

Our numbers this year are fudged a bit by Gather Round game against Bulldogs of 45,115. There were probably 10 - 12,000 who went to the earlier Essendon v Melbourne game but didn't stick around to watch Port game but were counted as attending by the AFL / state government - given they were in charge of ticketing for all Gather Round games.

SMA are probably trying to readdress this by not counting other games accurately.

In 2014 and early 2015 the SMA were counting staff. It wasn't picked up until the EF vs Richmond when AFL have control of ticketing for finals and had to balance the books to the SMA's numbers and they picked up the discrepancy.

The official figure was adjusted a few months later in the annual AFL Record season Guide book. The late Kevin Taylor on his footystats diary website published it after Rd 4 or 5 and Paul from AFL tables also did the adjustments and we discussed it on here after i posted the adjustments, and a lot of people posted it was bullshit and wasn't true, despite Kevin Taylor being part of the AFL statisticians group Colin Hutchinson set up in the 1980's.

I know the first game there in 2014 after the redevelopment, they didn't count most of the 3,000 corporate box tickets and people who got there very early and went in thru the side gate didn't get counted. The official crowd was only 50k which was complete crap.

Then there is the 2019 AFLW GF when they only expected 25k, it wasn't ticketed, days when AFLW was free, so if people went out for a smoke or other reasons, they were counted again when they went in thru the turnstiles. So they have an official crowd of 53.0k when it was probably around 45k. No way was it as crowded as the first ever game after the redevelopment or only 500 less than the post Phil Walsh's death showdown. The SMA are dodgy as ****.

More Tchaikovsky. Loves a good cannon fusillade in the middle of a concert.

Yeah the higher levels of the Western and Southern stands were pretty empty looking.

I've actually thought he's been good all year. Aside from a couple average performances earlier in the season when the team got flogged, I've thought his form has been solid. Wasn't seeing where the calls from dropping him were coming from.

Surely the SMA didn't do the old SNAFFLE trick and 'forget' to count the extra 10,000 people there last night?
Not blaming wonky turnstiles again I hope....
That old chestnut.
I was scanned in manually in the Eastern entrance as the turnstile wasn't working. So probably.
