based on yesterday, I've got no idea how we could stop their forward line.. If they get enough looks they should beat us easily.

Brisbane appeared to have stabilized their playing list and are now building up for September. Too good of a team to be where they currently are.

We like to run and gun through the middle but we are too slow down back with the 3 KPD Williams and Bergman. Should drop one of the KPD and play Bergman as a big. He has been so quiet this year. Two best games I remember of his were playing on bigger forwards Cameron & King. Really need to Sinn/Jones/Evans to step up and take Williams spot.

On current form the only game we win for the remainder of the season is Richmond. Obviously things can change and we will likely have a few games where we outperform and snag a win but it would be a total miracle if we won enough games to play finals. Our season is cooked.
See I don't know, I'm looking at the fixture and I know our form is bad, but we have to take into account our opponents' form. Grouping our remaining opponents into three tiers, we have a really really soft draw.

Legit contenders (9-12 wins):
1st Sydney (H)
2nd Carlton (A)
About the same as us (6-7 wins):
8th Fremantle (A)
9th Western Bulldogs (H)
10th Gold Coast (A)
11th Melbourne (A)
13th Brisbane (H)
Proper garbage (2-5 wins):
14th St Kilda (A)
15th Adelaide (H)
17th Richmond (H)

And I think these are fair distinctions, big gap between Carlton and Freo so that's obvious, we have one more win than the second group so we're higher than all of them but in danger of slipping behind, especially if one of their wins is over us. And the only reason I've put the distinction between Brisbane and :stkilda: is because Brisbane's a little bit of a bogey team for us (less so when we're at home) whereas we hardly lose to St Kilda.

Point I'm getting at though is when I look at the ladder I think we're losing to the teams in the top group and we should beat all three in the bottom group, maybe losing one of those because of course we would, the Showdown being most likely. It's going to come down to how we go against that middle group. I don't think we could possibly go 0-5 or 5-0 against them, but 2 or 3 seems most likely. All up the realistic best case scenario (if you consider making finals to be a good thing in the grand scheme of things) would be 7 wins to end the year and finish with 15. Realistic worst case scenario is 4 wins and end with 12. Last year 15 wins would have you just shy of the top 4 while the two teams with 12 wins finished 8th and 9th (Sydney sneaking in thanks to a draw).

There's definitely variables like injuries, suspensions, shock coach sackings (I hope), extremely unlikely upsets and stuff like that but it'd be very hard to **** it up from here. The picture will become clearer after next week when everyone's had their last bye (it's mostly shit teams who haven't, plus the Dogs and Collingwood I think) and our game against Brisbane is one that I think we lose. Maybe the fact that we play so many teams around us on the ladder will make us prone to a monumental fall off and we miss the 8 but I don't know. I think it's more likely that we make it. They'll do just enough, it'll look like a success because "finals!" and everyone will forget yet another glaringly bad season and the fact that if we play finals we'll be shit. I hate it.

Our fitness looks like a big problem. Been on the slide since burgess left. The GWS game looked particularly poor. We can’t make that up in a week. I wouldn’t think.

Nothing wrong with our fitness.

It's everything above the neck that is the issue.

Must just be a coincidence that last quarter efforts baring hawks have been poor. Since there is nothing wrong with our fitness maybe someone at the club could ask BZT why he was laying down in the goal square like he had been shot.

I no longer care enough about ins and outs because nothing will change until the rot is removed.
If we win this week, we probably jump back into the top 4 if results go as expected, and what'll happen....

"wHeRe'S aLL tHe HiNkLeY H@TeRz N0w???"

Honestly I hate that it has come to this, but the best thing for our club long term will be to lose this weekend.

I understand the board showing some patience early days, and fair enough cause some supporters are just out for blood all the time, but it's not just a few years now, it's a over a decade now since our club lost its way and drifted into this hopeless abyss. And how the board can't see this is just unfathomable. So if losing is what it takes, Go Lions!

Everyone has to realise that as long as Hinkley is coach that Mac & Cheese and Burton will play when available.

In : Rioli, Finlayson, Jackson
Out: Evans, Lord, Narkle

Our fitness is an issue because our game plan is based on defensive forwards running maniacally all afternoon, and thus being too stuffed to execute when playing forward.

You see it in our complete lack of structure. We have to do so much running because no-one can trust anyone yo be where they think they should be.

Develop a more direct game plan and we shouldn't be so stuffed.
