Yeah there's a stat out there that we lead the league in pressure acts

It's not actually a good thing, if anything it means we've put too much emphasis on it and overcompensated for forward movement

We've seen it several times already, when we need to kick a goal, we are basically playing one man down with McEntee not doing anything.

We are really lacking goal scoring power without SPP and Rioli, Evans and Mcintee are not even looking like scoring
The ball gets to the wing/fwd flank near them 2 and everything turns to crap.

Need to see more of JHF, Rozee and Butters rotating up there with Rioli.

Would you believe me if I told you Port could have averted this by letting his contract expire on October 31 last year, and then simply not renewing it.

Accountants hate me because of this one simple trick!
But didn't his contract say if we made finals his contract had to be extended?

Josh Sinn broke his collarbone and is still listed as three weeks on the Club website. Someone must have some insider knowledge if he is a possible selection this week.

Willie Rioli is listed as a test so there is a possibility the he will be back.

With Butters free to play and Rioli back things are looking up. Finlayson had a reasonable game for the Port Magpies last week so perhaps a swap for Olllie Lord is on the cards?

Can't see Lord getting dropped.after one game. I would go as far to say it will take a solid run of terrible games for him to get dropped - they really rate him.

The injury report bugs the shit out of me. So many inconsistencies across all teams. You've got millions of dollars being gambled and part of the calculations of punters is player availability. And.yet these reports are anything but official.

Sinn is now listed as test.

Not sure he's an automatic in yet but he's better than the alternative?

If they are going to play lord as ruck bit forward mays as well play sweet.
Both soldo and sweet can grab a high ball and kick a goal
Lord is more mobile than both it's why forward/chop outs are a thing, two lumbering genuine rucks are hard to put in the one side Melbourne couldn't even do it with Grundy & Gawn successfully.

Check the injury update thread, new article up today.

Rozee needs to lift and has been poor for most of this year but he was a very good player in 2022-23. And we desperately need him as captain to start leading from the front. You can’t argue with that. The whole midfield group was weak as piss on Sunday. We expect more from all of them.

However, picking apart his last 5 games is always going to look terrible because it includes the game he did his hamstring, the game he played 5 days after doing his hamstring, the game he badly sprained his ankle in the first 3 seconds, and the game he came back after 7 interrupted weeks that includes 2 injuries that have obviously rattled him more than most and a becoming a father for the first time.

I think people’s eyes are more reliable than those pointless stats of the last 5 weeks.

Surely Rioli is good to go now as it’s been 4 weeks and they said it was a minor strain?

I reckon he will miss. Hinkley made it clear in last weeks presser he was no certainty and with a calf I don't think they'll risk it.

Brisbane by a fair bit and that’ll be season done. We’ll scrape a couple more wins and fall just short of the eight.

So I’m keen to see us build the depth and culture we need to succeed in the future.

Over the coming weeks it would be good if we can get 5+ games into Lord, Marshall, Georgiades as our forwards, build some mid depth with games into Jackson, Sinn and Lorenz.

I would be keen to see Jones play as a tagger and give him some midfield time.

Rozee needs to push forward and reduce his midfield minutes. Play a bit of a Tony Greene role. We can cover his midfield minutes more easily than having him as a forward.

Both soldo and sweet can grab a high ball and kick a goal

Soldo is either injured or out of form.
Don't think he has the credits to carry him though it if out of form.

Sweet can have a shot on his own for a few weeks and if he doesn't measure up well we gave him a shot and we start getting games into Dante.

Our season is cooked in about 4 weeks. Dante, Lord, Sinn, Scully, McCallum, Jackson, Lorenz and Anastasopoulos should be lining up for games after that.

Looking forward to that under a caretaker coach.
