Forgot about him but to be fair that is a hindsight call. At the time Grundy was easily the better player.
Revisionism at best. Grundy had a good year while Witts spent the first ten rounds injured. It was Witts who was our starting ruckman in Round 1.

Think we stole that one and if I was a crows supporter I actually would be be pretty salty, it's not that the frees weren't there it's just where they are in the context of the game, absolutely morale sapping - teams have a problem with Cox because there actually is no way to defend him so they hang off him and give away frees.
Didn't we only get one goal from a free in the last? To Cox. Nick got a 50, but Mihocek had a good shot there anyway.

Crows dominated for a quarter, but didn't do enough the rest of the game. On balance, the better team won.

As for the game.. we actually were pretty rubbish and it's mainly structure. Our game plan is pretty simple - it's just massive pressure to lock in the forward line and having an awesome intercept game and none of that really worked and I don't think the answer is going taller. Obviously De Goey helps but I think also playing ND off of half back really helps just so that you get those good balls rebounding. Basically what Adelaide to us in the third (aside from grabbing marks and kicking straight) was strangling the transition.

Who cares about the context of the game. If the frees is there then pay it.

We lost a GF because an umpire didn’t have the balls to pay Maynard a free for a block.

To be fair to the Crows they also dominated the first half of the first.

Witts asked for a trade because he wasn't getting a game and wasn't going to get a game ahead of Grundy- he and everyone in footy knew it.

Not many Premiership-worthy teams allow an opposition team to outscore them by seven goals to nil in a quarter.

We are a long way off where we need to get to but for now at least we’re falling over the line, rather than coming up short.

So you're saying there is no Premiership team this year? Every team have had at least one terrible game (maybe other than us if you don't count the Lions game). We've mostly had bad quarters, not full games, so that's better than most. Port allowed us a 10 goal streak if I remember. Brisbane lost to a bottom 4 team. Melbourne were crushed by the Bombers.

All we need to do is win. Style points are irrelevant. We'll see where teams are at closer to finals.

No one can say we've peaked. Unlike port power.

The last quarter was a testament to the incredible will to win of this team. The belief, the incredible drive to victory, is extraordinary.
The fitness levels are astonishing is well, as these victories cannot be achieved otherwise.
John Noble is a star, a gem, who fully embodies the will to win, as he proved today.
The 3rd Quarter fade out was very concerning, and I am sure that the coaches/players will be probing very deeply into the reasons for it.
This team is cut from steel.
There are some flaws in the processes of conserving energy throughout the course of the game that need to be addressed.
Also, we are not sure yet of our best configuration in our F50, and also in the selection of our talls regarding rotations in the ruck and height in defence.
We have several more rounds to establish this.

Is that what you were thinking about PA, when we demolished them, in a game that included a run of 10 unanswered goals.

As others have mentioned, the best thing for our season so far is that we have not yet hit top form. This is not a team fully firing and topping the ladder. We've been a bit below our best, largely due to missing key parts of our best 22.

There's improvement in us. And that's what you want at this time of year. Team's without it will get overrun. Hopefully we can time our run and get to our best closer to finals.

I’m sitting in between you two. Not time to write us off of course but in terms of general play level and structures we have gone backwards. Yes our gamestyle is risky but it was clear and compelling when we were getting on top of other teams earlier in the season. Right now even our good periods are looking more questionable and we struggle to play the way we want.

I’m not super hopeful on McStay but I am curious to see how we go with an extra marking target considering how poor we looked there today. Maybe some hope there.

The biggest difference will be Jordy’s return if he’s still at the same level. His performance this year has been somewhat underrated. Amongst a handful of the best mids in the comp.

I’d argue our last strong quality game was against the Giants. I was already uneasy at our games against north, Carlton and west coast. Plenty of time to improve but you’d hope we see an uplift in general play against the Dogs when player availability should be the best of the season (hopefully).

It’s mid season slog time, but besides no De Goey we need to look at why we are getting flogged for long periods.

We also don’t seem to be generating as many scores from the back half rebound, but I need to see some stats on that.

AJ is hurting his finals chances - Mihocek CHF and McStay FF will be out setup as it stands.

HH has done well enough but McCreerys animal energy is something else.

Thought Elliott looked a bit better after the freshen up.

The Daicos boys and Mitchell continue to earn their pay cheque.

Twice now we’ve got away with one against Adelaide

Going in without Frampton was a really really poor decision that almost cost us the game.

Would have been nice if we could have won more of those centre clearances in the third to stem the flow. Because we kicked 4 goals from 4 centre clearances in the last.

Believe we were strong on that today. 5 of our first 6 goals were generated from defence. Not sure after that. Howe's return helps.

We're missing two key mids. It makes sense our ball movement is a little down. Still crying our for a second marking target in McStay - Krueger may be close to another chance.

I agree we've not hit our peak form, but see that as a positive. You want room to grow at this stage of the year. We have a simple way with players returning, as well as some game plan adjustments to look at.

Wow,another heart stopper. It’s agony watching some of these games but worth it in the end when we win.

This current Collingwood side is such a schizophrenic side to watch. They can go from playing sublime football to being absolute rubbish in the blink of an eye.I don’t know what happens to them, but it seems to happen almost every week, and it’s usually the third quarter where they switch off for sone reason.I’d love to know what happens at half time, because the team always seems come out as fiat as a tack after the break.

We miss Degoey shockingly .The midfield is just so one paced without him.He can’t come back quickly enough as far as I’m concerned.

The forward line is a huge concern as well.Johnson had another poor game today and was subbed out.And there’s no obvious replacement for him, apart from Mcstay who unfortunately appears to be out for another few weeks.
