Where are the people who keep on backing spuds instead of breeding youth??

Blakely, Weller, Crozier to be denied games is ridiculous given we have so many spuds. Ballas and Mayne need to be dropped and are not the future of the club.

Alex Pearce is proving in spades than young under-developed players if they are good enough can come in and really play.
He gives us drive, creativity and defends well. And he would never have gotten a game if Dawson or Silvagni was available because of our conservative selection policy.
I've been arguing for weeks that this team isn't good enough and that we need to expose more of the youngsters to see what they can bring so we can phase out the players who although they give their all are very limited.
Others have argued that now is not the time to make changes because we are in premiership mode but I think its fair to say that today has proved we are no premiership threat with this team and game-plan.
Its time for a mid-season mini rebuild. We need to find 2 or 3 players that can make a difference from those that are untried. Its no use playing musical chairs with the incumbents.
I suggest that Weller, Blakely, Langdon, Duffy maybe Grey can all play at the level and change the dynamics of the team.
Persisting with the incumbents is as good as admitting defeat.

Fully agree.

Grey for Duffield
Blakely for De Boer
Weller for Suban
Duffy for Ballantyne
Taberner for Clarke.

Langdon for Mayne.

Easy

How do you get the confidence back we were playing with earlier in the season? We are only missing Johnson, Dawson/Silvagni (at a stretch) from our best 22, forward line is not working and its hard to see who we can bring in to fix that
Johnson is a huge loss...he set up a good proportion of your forward attacks and any sensible coach should have tagged him, The rest don't matter.

I can see it must have been a awful game to watch but can I ask how Mzungu went? Did he do enough things to hold his spot?

We can change things up, clearly Taberner will come back in with strong consideration given to Crozier and Sutcliffe. Even just these three could give the team significantly more run. Will start to see Grey, Blackley and Weller in discussions as well (not including Langdon just yet).

Duffy is injured and is useless .Suttcliffe was better than all you mentioned. So Sutty back in for Duffield.Yep for the rest of your changes.Clark is so friggin heartbreaking.Tarzan in the WAFL,Jane in the big stuff.

I don't think Taberner is the answer, but at the same time its no coincidence we were playing better with him in the team during 8/9 earlier rounds, Hannath/Duffy look closer to being delisting candidates at the end of the year than getting a game again any time soon.

Gu was one of our best mids.

Out: Ballantyne, Mayne, De Boer, Suban, Duffield
In: Crozier, Taberner, Blakely, Weller, Grey.

As much as Zac Clarke played like crap, the other options would not be an improvement as we saw when we tried Hannath.

Hey Salim, have you seen any indications that Grey might be considered at this level. In the couple of WAFL games I have seen he was the only one that stood out as having that reckless and tough approach on his man and the ball that might be inspiring to his teammates. Does his disposal hold him back, can't see RTB picking someone who turns over the ball too often.

Gu was one of our best mids.

Thanks, a small positive in my mind because of his versatility to the team.

Still think we can bounce back but need an injection of scoring class such as Crozier and Taberner, seems we now need to back them in (very little choice).

You could never doubt his courage or heart but his vision is not there just yet and he turns it over a bit but if he got a game you know you would get a whole hearted effort.

I don't usually suggest sweeping changes... but the dog huingry freo of the first eight rounds is utterly gone. Meethinks its time to inject some dog-hungry youth and hope that it rubs off on everyone else:

Grey in for MTB
Langdon in for Sherro
Blakely in for suban
Croz in for Ballaz
Tabs in for Mayne

And for god's sake, elevate Ballard asap.

Totally agree with gekko for changes. If we cant get anything on clake maybe use he spot for moeller next season cant park the spot for passenger that dont move for too long.

Again we've been shown that our current team simply can't take it up to the best and if we aren't at that level than whats the point. Need badly to inject some youth and class in place of guys who apparently are providing 'pressure' (working well...) but nothing else. Would go:
OUT: Ballas, Suban, De Boer, Duffield, Clarke
IN: Tabs, Blakely, Weller, Sutcliffe, Crozier
This is the perfect game to make a statement, play the youth who have been bashing down the door in the 2nds all year and just try to re-capture/capture some attacking ability.

Apparently Murphy and Gibbs are injured, so their two best mids won't be playing.

This is a fantastic chance to give the young guys a run.

Agreed.

You need to play the best running and kicking players you have.

Need to see these guys before the finals because your meat and potatoes guys may not get the job done in Sept.

Plus, our disposal is shit. Keep possession, get metres, win the game.

We can't do it because we will give you the ball 50% of the time. Happened against Tigers and Bulldogs.

see call me crazy but I don't understand this view point. I recall Duffy playing an awesome game against the Cats and scoring 2 goal 2 points (I think) as sub and sparking a massive revival where we came from a lot down and - bar Mundy's miss- nearly pinched the game. I remember Luke Hodge asking Barlow the next day on Game Day 'who the hell is that?" and I remember Duffy being given 10 minutes in his next game and being dropped for good. So what if he's not the world's best WAFL player? Son Son, who is my favourite player, was only OK at WAFL level too. Crozier has never had that level of influence on an AFL game.
I would give opportunities - in no particular order and not at the same time - to Weller, Grey, Duffy, Langdon and Blakely. Surely Alex Pearce has showed how good young players can be? Let alone the examples we see every week from the Saints, Dogs, Eagles and Giants.
