Good news on the weather front, my man in Radelaide reports that it hasn't rained there all day. The forecast is for clear conditions untill Sunday, when they may get some showers.:thumbsu: I think our lads would prefer a dry track.

Speaking of games in Tassie, wasn't the sirengate game agains Port?
No, that was against the Shockers

Nope all on bench...

Clarke, Armitage, Geary, Mini, Lynch, Siposs, Polo

But great to see Geary back in mix so soon after injury

Hmmm, so Gamble is on the field.

Assuming he plays, I'll say that Clarke, Lynch and Polo are safe. Tossing up on the last one, but I'll say Armitage, so I'm guessing there will be no changes.

Good to see Geary close though. Almost forgotten so far this season, but should get a game soon enough.

No change would have to be favourite at this stage, unless is Roo misses then might see Siposs come in

I would think Siposs has been named as cover for Riewoldt.

Geary would be a welcome addition to play a small defender role. Probably on Hitchcock to be selected.

Very glad Brogan isn't in. Macca could be a massive weapon on Sunday arvo.

Great to see Geary back, not sure if he'll make the cut this week but he is definitely in our best 22 once he's fully fit.

Armitage would have to get one bench spot you would think and Lynch surely deserves to keep his spot, Raph probably did enough to keep his spot too even though we don't really need anymore defenders. Wouldn't mind seeing Geary or Siposs get the other spot possibly as the sub.

I know Polo is in for a reason, but he's had 13 disposals in 4 of his 5 games this year. Surely Geary could provide this ball-winning performance. Geary averages 15.5 disposals per game in 44 AFL games.

I wouldn't like to see Raph sub again this week purely because I dont like the idea of any player only playing 1/4 game or less. So drop him to Sandringham or play him.

Is Armitage's role cemented? He didnt do much last week?

So I guess any of Polo, Armitage, or Geary could end up being sub, and if Raph plays VFL I guess Geary comes in.

If Riewoldt ( as per rumours ) doesnt get up, I guess Siposs is the man.

I don't think Geary has enough time under his belt to play, but more generally it's good to see him back. I don't think he's as good as Steven, however I'm hopeful that he has as much improvement in him as Jack did at the beginning of this year. He's quite fast, and the more speed we get into this team - whether forwards, backs or mids - the better.

How many people realized that the Saints have won just four of their past 16 encounters with the Power and have only ever beaten them twice at AAMI Stadium!!

I had no idea it was that poor a record..

Are you kidding? Until the first game of 2009 it was so dire that we could have got a BigFooty team together, put on Port jumpers and knocked off the Saints by 10 goals and change.

If he gets dropped for one bad game after the season he's had, something's very wrong.

Interchange will probably be Clarke, Lynch Armitage/Polo Sub: Geary.

Clarke needs to play a full game sooner or later and he did well last week as sub. Armitage might need a week off? Didn't do much last week and has been playing HFF more than center. Would of prefered Walsh or Johnson instead of Siposs if roo is out. They would just need to provide a contest and bring it to ground. Don't know if Siposs is tall enough to do that.

Yeah Siposs isn't exactly a key forward that would replace Riewoldt, better off with Archer, Johnson or Walsh. Would probably even fasttrack Gardiner or Stanley into the team if push came to shove.

I'd still pick Armitage ahead of Polo. Armitage has been pretty good this year on the whole, has dropped off a bit recently but I don't think he's being used in the right role. Needs to spend more time on the ball around the packs rather than on the half forward line.

Geary would be a good sub as he can play defence, midfield and forward.

do you think armo may be a bit tired plugger and thats why he is where he is?

12 games in 09/10 combined and 13 games this year alone due to having to shoulder the lenny-less load for much of the year.

why was he moved out of the centre to HFF?

Perhaps but he shouldn't be tired, at his age he should be capable of taking on the workload of a proper midfielder. He's not a kid anymore, he needs to step up to the plate. Robert Harvey was a gun midfielder at the same age and younger. Not expecting Armo to be in Harves class as he was a freak but you can't keep using age as an excuse for him.

You only have to look at Steven as a comparison, he's younger than Armo but has been a revelation as a midfielder this year. Switching Steven on to the ball has been a big part of our resurgence, he's like the energizer bunny, just keeps on going and going. He reminds me a bit of Marc Murphy the way he scuttles around, loving his work.

if that's right, maybe we need to look at armo's overall fitness over the summer. maybe there is an issue there?

If you look at isolated comments, Sam Mitchell did state that the players by and large were of the opinion that the Sub rule has increased the "fatigue" felt by players, so it's not just inclusive to Armo if he's trailing off due to fatigue given the extra circumstances of Lenny also going down and him spending more time "resting" up forward. Of course this was also coming off the bye as it was so you also have possible lethargy creeping in on anyone not fully in form or switched on as well, so it's more than likely not a single issue that can be fixed with just a workload tweak.

With no logical replacement for Riewoldt named in the side, I have to assume he is ok to take his place

Maybe Armo wasn't quite "right" last week or something, who knows, but if he's ok to go back into the midfield then I'm sure he'll go in there

For mine, 3 lead-up forwards is what we want, given the size of Gamble and Siposs. However, AAMI is a skinny ground so one of these two may miss out. Gamble wasn't horrible last week (one hander aside), so probably no major reason to come out of the side

Not sure about the calls for Clarke to be named on the bench or in the starting side. If he performed so well as the sub last week, why change that?

Unless there is an injury we don't know about, I think an un-changed side may be coming up

EDIT: especially if Lynch stays in the side and forward. Certainly no room for Lynch, Riewoldt, Siposs and Gamble
