Really sucky that we're so backlogged with quality defenders we can't field any of Hamling, Walker, Aish and Hughes who'd be getting games in other sides.

On the reverse we are so starved of forward depth we have to continue persevering with a severely limited tall in Bailey Banfield.
Simple solution there. Move defender forward 👍 insert next in line back into the defence. Better balanced team. But for some reason JL is terrified of sending cox fwd even just for one game to trial it.

Re. the backline - I think they need to gel together, a lot of the issues on the weekend were disorganisation and chopping and changing will be counterproductive.

Afaik Chapman only trained down back in the preseason, and knowing JL he won’t make a knee jerk move to the wing for him, he constantly talks about letting young players settle in a role.

I also think Chapman is the sort of player who will improve rapidly, he’s just a smart player.

Everyone was pumped with the golden fist, but he literally bounced straight out to take the handball from Lobb who would have otherwise been done htb no doubt, Chapman’s opponent was still on his arse in the goal square.

I think we will go through some growing pains but long term the backline will be really good.

Agree with the above. Everyone focussed on the fist, but getting up and rebounding the ball out of D50 was equally as impressive.

Cyclone up north somewhere so it’s anything between heavy showers and nothing atm for Perth on Sunday.

Righto - more up to date BOM seems to have swapped Sat and Sun around and just a bit of rain in the morning. By the time the game starts it will likely be sunny and fine.

Either way too top heavy for mine to have Meek and Darcy. We got beat in the centre clearances. In the last quarter they showed a stat they Adelaide had 4-5 goals directly from centre clearances and Freo had zero (not even a point). On the couch they were showing the number of teams with goals from centre clearances over the weekend, especially GC and Carlton.

Our B&F is a must inclusion. Lobb was average in the centre for the first 3 QRT’s but Lobb was involved in squaring up a couple in the second half of the last, so hopefully he shook of the ruck rustiness.

Meek was very good in the first half but Windscreen O’Brien gave him a bath in the third.

Would love to see Stuart and/or Erasmus play but can't see it. Banfield only change for Fyfe unless Darcy back which means Meek misses out. I like Pearce on King and would like to see Logue get Membrey. I thought Logue's 2nd half was very strong v Crows. Sonny needs to do something very soon, but this might be the week he kicks a bag and stops playing for free kicks.

Our backline which may have worked previously might not work in todays game which is focused on break speed pace. I think we should experiment to find the right setup.

Walker already plays like a 50 gamer.
Lots of players have decent debuts or do nice things. Playing a game like a 50 gamer doesn't give you the consistency or flexibility of a 50 gamer.

Chapman may have pulled off an amazing save but he played like you would expect someone with his amount of experience. Putting up a defence with him and Walker as key components is a risk you only take if you're in development mode. I'm hoping we can make the finals.

Won't happen but what I'd go with

Ryan Hamling Logue
Clark Pearce Young
Tucker Brayshaw Acres
Treacy Cox Switta
Freddy Lobb Schultz
Meek Serong Brodie

Chapman Walters Mundy Erasmus

Fyfe for Erasmus if fit
Darcy for Meek if fit

I'd almost have Ryan, Walters and Mundy as the next out from there respective lines which seems crazy

Like it.

I'd have Aish or Crowden in for Walters.

The more I think about it the more I'm baffled as to why Chapman was matched up on a small forward. It's not like what Rachele produced was a surprise either. And then to leave him there for 3qtrs? Odd coaching.

I was baffled with it too; I presume they were hoping to have the taller Chapman completely nullify Rachele in the air and cause pain on the rebound? The other options were Ryan (he seemed to be playing on talls), Logue or Young - maybe Young would have been slightly better?

Hate saying this but if Walters and Henry don't turn things around this week, then they should be the ones heading back to the WAFL. Both offered sub-par performances IMO. Banfield & Tucker way more useful, IMO.

It’s going to be wet on Sunday here so my changes are tactical more than forced.

Henry out for O’Driscoll or Aish
Banfield out for Colyer

That is all.

Walters time to shine with his crafty wet weather pack crumbing . (If not, he’s out next week)

Darcy can wait a week - don’t want him returning in a wet weather slog and Meek is better suited to Marshall anyway.

Ditto for Fyfe - unleash him on the eagles

As a weather aficionado I can tell you that it is too early to know exactly what's going to happen. When you have the possibility of a tropical low coming to the south-west there are many influencing variables on which way the low will move. The forecast is changing every few hours at the moment, we will get a better idea in a few days.

The models are currently predicting rain on Saturday, dry on Sunday. We're most likely to have a warm, humid, cloudy game with south easterly winds.

Cold fronts on the other hand tend to be much more predictable.

Yeah not a fan, but I don't think there was anyone else, Young would be even slower than Chapman, Logue was best match up for Fogarty, Clark was more of an offensive piece than a lockdown and I think Ryan was on Mchenry/Roe.
