Unpopular opinion, but aside from that amazing fist, Chapman was a weak link in the backline. Walker may have provided more rebound and better control of a small forward. Who absolutely tore us up.

Chapman out : Walker in.

I actually wouldn’t make that change though, I’d add Walker and keep Chapman. Losing someone like Tucker, Henry, Walters instead.

There were definitely a few people who agreed regarding Chapman's game, he certainly didn't have his best one.
I feel like he was trying to play a lockdown role on a player he wasn't very suited to, but we have had that weakness for fast small forwards multiple times in recent years.

I like what I've seen from Walker in flashes, but I haven't noted him particularly for his lockdown or pure defensive skills.

It sounds like Henry will get a run of a few games and I doubt they'll knee jerk drop Walters, so if neither Fyfe or Tabs are ready I'd be thinking 0-1 changes.
I still would like to see Colyer in there if he's at the level he was last year, and I never thought I would ever say that.

Out Lobb!? Wtf he was very good for us, kicked 2 and had a hand in another.

Meek for Darcy, stiff.
Fyfe for Tucker, also a little stiff.

Walters or Henry I think will be in the gun but will get another week each, personally I’d give Trav a run for Henry and make Crowden the sub.

The defence didn't function very well and was actually really poor, I wonder if it was a bit slow. Would maybe look at bringing Walker back, so that we can shut down the smalls better.

If tabs or Sturt is fit I would bring them in. Forward line functions a lot better with three talls.

Fyfe and Darcy no Brainerd of fit.

Adelaide have a very unique small forward line: Rachele, Rowe and McHenry - all really fast/quick and agile. It is an achilles heel of our defense, we can probably deal with 1 or 2 but 3 is a problem. Although Rachele kicked 5, I thought Rowe was very damaging.
Makes a case for Walker to be in the side.

I agree about the defence. That were a bit ordinary at times.
I was surprised we took pace out of the team, generally.

Saints are not dissimilar. Plenty of pace in their smaller front half players. We could be similarly cut up.

I don't understand the Lobb hate. Kicked two and had a big late game spoil to help defend the lead. Plays his role well and could have kicked a third but handballed over the top to Lachie in the goal square. That handball was the only part of his game I didn't like. I would have preferred he go back and kick it, but as Lachie scored it wasn't a big deal.

As a team we have an army of tiny players and an inability to keep the ball in our forward fifty. There is no point having a midget fleet if we can't crumb and at least hold the ball inside the 50 for a stoppage.

Walters will be given another game or two. If he is then Henry cannot also be in the team. If Walters plays he needs to be able to be set up to deliver into F50 rather than a being a F50 target. On form, he should be dropped. Bring Erasmus in as a straight swap. I haven't seen anything from JL that indicates a willingness for that type of selection.

With that said:

Darcy > Meek
Erasmus > Banfield
NOD > Walters/Henry

Blakely is in good form but Brodie played well. No spot for him in the middle.

I'd make minimal changes. We got the win away from home and played great football in the first half without conversion in our front half.

Meek was great but don't think he fits as a second ruck. He's too slow and doesn't provide a marking presence up forward. We can't play Lobb, Darcy and Meek; so:

Out: Meek
In: Darcy

Henry and Banfield are on thin ice. I'd be very tempted to replace Sturt with Banfield as we need another classy goal kicker who converts up forward but not sure if Sturt is ready yet. Blakely to come in as the sub. I'd probably prefer Blakely to Tucker to be honest but I think Jlo loves Tucker.

I'd go:

out Meek in Darcy
out Banfield in Erasmus
out Tucker in Walker

Walters on very very thin ice. Henry needs to keep building. We can carry 1-2 players for development.
Henry for Walker, Tucker is valuable as help in the midfield. Fyfe may also return.

I can see this being exactly the thoughts of the MC (except if there's any unknown injuries)

Hard to pick this weeks changes because Darcy and Fyfe are genuine lineball selections it seems .

If they are both OK to play then Darcy for Treacy and Fyfe for Banfield. I would like to see Erasmus in for Henry but the selection committee seem to be rather besotted with young Liam.

Reading between the lines - JLo said Darcy had a good training run on Sat. I’d expect Darcy to get a gig and Fyfe to miss out.

For team structure:
Darcy > Meek

I’d also swap Erasmus > Banfield but doubt this will happen.

Walker, Colyer and Blakely others to be considered. I’d play Logue on the smaller forwards.

Aish and Wilson are smaller defenders we could also consider.

Ok Chill. Actually got a lot of shots on goal. Tabs wasn’t playing. Treacy had an interrupted last month of pre season.
Would like Amiss to develop strong for Peel and bulk up

Wilson still injured? Aish can defend, so can Walker.
At least Darcy can rotate with Lobb.
Treacy should be better for the run, if we are too tall in the backs
we could actually swing someone?

Why the worry of too tall? Darcy and Meek will be effective, Lobb can do his thing at CHF.
A guy on debut kicked 5 on us, don’t think the balance is right down back. Ryan looks better playing tall, Logue can do both, but the others?
Walker, Aish can lock down and attack.
How many quarterbacks do you need? Young, Chapman, Clark maybe better on the wing?
Highly doubt we play Darcy, Meek and Lobb. Others could also ruck, Cox or even Treacy pinch hit.
Treacy in the middle would be interesting.

Not suggesting that Sturt or Amiss come in next week.
But if we get to round 7 or 8 and Banfield is still keeping Sturt and Amiss out of the side on form (especially Sturt) then we have a problem.
There is simply no way on earth that Banfield can be part of a premiership winning forward line.
Sturt and Amiss are the flag winning future
As much as I’d love to believe that they are I think it’s a bit premature to call it outright when we have barely seen them play.

Really sucky that we're so backlogged with quality defenders we can't field any of Hamling, Walker, Aish and Hughes who'd be getting games in other sides.

On the reverse we are so starved of forward depth we have to continue persevering with a severely limited tall in Bailey Banfield.

It’s going to be wet on Sunday here so my changes are tactical more than forced.

Henry out for O’Driscoll or Aish
Banfield out for Colyer

That is all.

Walters time to shine with his crafty wet weather pack crumbing . (If not, he’s out next week)

Darcy can wait a week - don’t want him returning in a wet weather slog and Meek is better suited to Marshall anyway.

Ditto for Fyfe - unleash him on the eagles
