I Hope Please GIF

Their clearly have a strategy in place(less priority on winning) their strike rate for flags is the best in history.

They will be finalists again in ~5yrs.

Tuesday is “video of surprised debutant and their ecstatic family released on Swans website” day.

Nothing was posted - hence it’s a safe bet there’ll be no debuts.
McLean & Amartey have played well enough when Buddy is out. Ruck will also have enough coverage if Amartey selected. We'll go with a mid for sub.

Edit: Mills could be out too. He looked really uncomfortable with that hand. So, that's another mid we might need.

iN: Amartey, Roberts, Sheldrick

That's pretty slow. Would think they'd want to be in finals within 3 years.

Probably.

But as Norf found out, going the “bottom out hard” route doesn’t guarantee a rebound.

I’m far from convinced that Hawthorn does have the bounty of young talent that others seem to think.

Of course, if we now lose, I’ll place myself is self-exile from the board.

And there’s no evidence of talent in the coaching box either

I really hope we think more about our players health this year, despite their willingness to play.
If Mills hand is not 100% then give him a weeks rest. We are playing Hawthorn. I know you should not pencil in wins etc because your midset and game reflects your mindset and then you don't play as you should
BUT
We have a run of games after this week as follows
Melbourne
Port Adelaide
Richmod
Geelong
etc

I want Mills not to be hampered, because it could be the difference in these games.

PRE & POST GAME GOOD TIMES: BEER GARDEN OUTSIDE THE HALL OF INDUSTRIES ON SUNDAY ARVO

To celebrate our first home game, there will be plenty to see and do ahead of the afternoon match. The area outside Sydney Swans HQ will be transformed into a festival of footy, food and fanfare for children and adults alike.

From 10am there will be food trucks and coffee, player interviews and an appearance from Cyggy. Check out the newly-opened Locker Room – our new merchandise store – and deck yourself out in red and white.

Following the final siren we invite you back to the forecourt of Hordern Pavillion where a beer garden, DJ and player interviews will occur, plus a special member only area.

Am I the only one who thought Mills' hand seemed fine?

Wearing the glove obviously but others' ball-handling on the night was a lot worse than Mills'.

If his hand was causing him grief to the point he couldn't play this week, then he wouldn't have played last week.
I didn't see it, but someone on the gameday thread mentioned it looked like it was causing him a lot of pain. Obviously players play through pain all the time, and Mills' courage is unquestionable, but if it's something that a week off could help, I'd be ok with that. The pain could wear a player down over time, as could all the management of it.

It is not a matter of whether he could PLAY, it is a matter of whether his hand was 100%.
Let's get through the season as injury free as we can before the finals. Let's be smart about it. That is my point.
Players will want to play despite not being 100%. If we have options to keep players closer to 100% if it means they miss the odd game, then I think the attrition at end of year will not be as severe. This will help our finals chances.

Happy for mills to be rested if his hand isn't 100%. I'm on the fence about Amartey returning, although I love his potential. Tbh I would be happy if he played a block of games in reserves considering he's coming off an injury interrupted pre-season.

I agree with this. I hope we go small. An extra mid. Also if Mills is hampered, I'd like to see Roberts get a game. It's Hawthorn. We have little depth outside best 22 in the mids, so giving games to Roberts will greatly assist him to be a ready made mid if we have injuries later this year.

I think it's more if the choice is between Amartey on limited TOG, maybe just staying up forward versus McAndrew playing, who'll probably also be on limited TOG. I'd go Amartey.

I think with the improved weather forecast, we'll stick to our structure. So a tall in for Buddy.

Miss the odd game? It's round 2. If the hand was that problematic then he wouldn't have been out there in the first place. That he was suggests he will play again this week. Horse was even asked about any potential injuries and he didn't mention Mills' hand at all.

Are you saying we don't have injuries in round 2. Look at the injury list already. There are 6 on it that Swans have admitted to. More to the fringe players like HHK.
Nor would he mention Mills hand. But we all know players play with injuries most weeks. All I am saying is if we have the option, then let's get a good player closer to 100% by missing a game if it does not materially affect the game result.
You are pushing shit uphill on this argument.
