I’m hoping we’ve finally learned our lesson re: selecting unfit players.
It's never going to happen... every team plays guys who are not fit every week, just more so when the flag is on the line!

Yep just don't pick the guys who can barely walk is the main lesson

If Amartey comes into the 22. It will be interesting to see who we pick as the sub. Whether we try to use a different player each week so more players on the fringes get AFL experience. Or go with Roberts again.

Later on in the season, we might see a few young players get a debut as the sub because at least this year they are virtually guaranteed to get some game time.

Roberts again. We'll rotate the sub among our best mids/smalls from the VFL to make sure that the sub doesn't keep missing out on a lot of gametime, but since both Roberts, Sheldrick were able to play in the VFL practice match last weekend (after the GC game), I'd expect Roberts to miss the VFL curtain raiser and be sub again. Sheldrick had the more interrupted pre-season so expect to see him get a full VFL match.

We basically did this last year, it was usually the best small option outside the 22 (at least in the clubs eyes), maybe someone with more experience than other options, except where the VFL schedule caused players to miss any gametime on a weekend entirely, or not play much. We then rotated. Until things got serious towards the end of the year, and with some favourable scheduling, where we could just use Campbell all the time.

The problem with using the same bloke as sub several times is that they don’t get much game time.

I’m only guessing - but I suspect Roberts starts this week.

Some bloke just called SEN saying Errol is in doubt with a calf
A problem of biblical proportions. We worship Errol's kicking, the footy gods get angry and destroy the Gulden calf.

Peter (Ladhams) denied us/Ruck Jesus his help 3 times in last years final series with his suspension too, worry about what he'll face in future.

I was listening to the True Bloods podcast this week. They reckon "Errol's left foot kicking has cured erectile dysfunction".
Major out if true.

Seeing a few calf related problems across different sports lately. Calf injuries are notoriously tricky to manage.

Roberts played a VFL practice match last weekend, the day after the sub appearance. Sheldrick is the one they'd be more concerned about getting back to full fitness in the VFL.

I have been manifesting this forward line for over a year now.

I'm gonna look like an absolute potato if it flops
We all knew this is going to be our (tall) forward line from 2024 anyway, no shame in hoping it will work out, finding reasons to believe.

Given we're playing the Hawks I'm not going to be taking much out of it anyway, much like some of the other games that we've had without Buddy.

Probably should be posted here too:

So, given I reckon we should be giving Sheldrick a full game in the VFL to get up to full fitness...

Could we see a surprise sub debut of Corey Warner? The family's got 2 days to head over.

I.e.

Out: Buddy, Gulden
In: Amartey, Roberts, Corey Warner the sub

See this is why I am just so damn optimistic about this year. A player of Errol Gulden's quality being out should have me worried, but this just probably means someone of Callum Mills' quality gets more midfield time.

Will be some added minutes for existing mids, plus just having Roberts in there, but if we want someone to come in and perform the Gulden quality delivery role, I reckon we have some options.
