Round 2 The Sydney Swans vs The Hawthorn Hawks

If Goodes has been fined for the incident I saw, then that is an abject disgrace. He was pushed into him. It's the Saints player should be fined. As far as Monty is concerned, I didn't see it at the time but had I been in his shoes, I'd have probably had forearm up and directed at Chamberlain's jaw. What is it with that guy? He didn't cost us the game, but what is with his need to impose himself on a football match. It's not just the wrong decisions, and there are plenty of those, it's the decisions that, in the context of a game of football, just don't need to be made. Why can't they look at the 2005 GF and say "THAT is how you do it". Not because of the result, but because of the contest between men for 100 mins. Two teams just ripping into each other. When I watch that match I am as excited about the fierce struggle as I am about the result, and that had a heap to do with the umpires staying out of it.

Couldn't agree more, Bruce

LRT to play his 100th this week, great effort

Agreed. A much maligned player whose finally showing that the faith Roos has placed in him is well-founded.

I don't know how serious that was, but I'll seriously say, we're more a chance this week than last, purely because in past seasons we've had a notorious slow start and bounced back the following week (ask Port, coming off a close loss to the Premiers in Geelong, how they felt coming up to Sydney to play us last year Round 2).

Last night Roos was giving the game a plug on fox I think or that new sports channel 1HD, I found it amusing that he was talking it up as the 'Buddy Franklin' show in hope to get bums on seats at anz stadium! I gotta admit, his style of footy would be attractive to sydneysiders, smart man Roos!

It not only Roos Goodes was at it on Ten news tonight too. I guess the strategy is get as many people there as possible regardless of the outcome.

I think we'll see a much better showing this weekend against the Hawks, and it would not really surprise me to see us get up.

Simply put, historically, we match up far better against the Hawks than we do the Saints.

The mood I was in when I left after the game on Sat night I thought no way but a day or two to calm me down and I agree.

But the entire midfield must be up for a scrap, tackle hard and ride the hits and break the tackles. Jolly is our key, thats one spot on the ground where we hold a definitive advantage and he needs to play a belter of a game and tap to advantage and Goodes and Kirk need to lift on last week and break the packs.

The Half Back line needs to be on fire if Buddy and Roughhead get clean ball or plenty of it coming in it's curtains.

If everyone fights to their capability its possible.

its gonna be wet and slippery. That can only help a rolling zone. If we had trouble getting it out of our own half last week, I fear we will have a far worse time this week.

If only Vesz wasnt injured
