There was a lot of talk before the game how Picken on Thomas would have been a disaster, a few red faces I would think?
I'd own up to that, didn't realize how grouchy of a player Thomas was though, Picken set him off real early.
My face ain't that red, just shows how little I pay attention to North Melbourne players :p

Have been informed some of our supporters decided to stand around the player race and abuse the boys on their way down to the rooms.
If any of you that participated are reading this, PULL YOUR HEADS IN!
Have some loyalty and have some SENSE, for the love of ****. How can you call yourself a supporter of this club if you want to crowd around defeated young men and abuse them for throwing everything they had at it and coming off second best against a side expected to finish well inside the 8, far and away above us. Yes, mistakes were made. Did all make mistakes? Did any one player cost us the game?
Seriously. Leave the Dees supporters to participate in that crap. That's just not Footscray. We are better than that.
This makes me angry!

I was sitting next to the race. I only heard/saw two blokes, both slightly boozed, and their vitriol was directed solely at Jonesy and his awareness.

Gratuitous, but footballers are big boys and well paid. A few idiots mouthing incoherent observations is part of the package, and if you let that affect your morale you're not concentrating.

But, on the whole agree, it's not the noblest side of our supporters.

I love ya yebiga but the bolded is a load of crap. The coach shouldn't cow tow to fan's opinions if he believes a young player hasn't worked hard enough to get a game. That's exactly how you breed unrest in a team and it's also how you get a young bloke to pull his head in a become a star rather than a player who coasts along having an okay to good career. Our club has let the inmates run the asylum for too bloody long. Talia will get a game when he deserves one, and that's how it should be. Austin and Redpath are rookie listed. Fletcher Roberts is in the same boat as Talia and Williams isn't ready. Wood or Young are our best options, and Wood played well defensively, his problem yesterday was his offensive game. I'm actually not sure where the myth of him being any good offensively has come from. One Collingwood game where he was injured at 3 quarter time.

Higgins line was an undeserved cheap shot.

Interested to hear about how that works ???????? You talking about fans' influence, or what??

My mail is 8 players were crook with gastro throughout the week, some were in hospital on drips, explains the 3/4 time fade out. I was there and all in all I was fairly happy, main concern is far too often the ball ends up with the wrong player to enter the forward 50. Love 'Linsanity's' game, Pickens likewise, but geez, I bury my head in my hands when these are the blokes who kick it to our forwards who struggle enough with our best service.

Yeah I agree, our good ball users need to be told that they are the ones who need to finish it off and move the ball forward. For example fairly late in the game yesterday, Higgins had the ball pretty open at HB and handballed it sideways to Picken who was open, but we'd want Higgins taking that kick 10/10 times, if its the other way round then Picken can hand it off. Our players just need to be smarter over the whole game, but that will come with experience.

A poster on the mainboard (Beeg) said this too, do you know which 8 they were?

We should probably start calling ourselves the Canterberry Bulldogs and move to the NRL. We would make a good rugby side. In saying that I loved watching us smash Norf every time they touched the ball in the first half. Didnt watch the second half, sounds like we dropped away. Campbell deserves another go. Dissapointed Macca dropped him after the WC game

Didn't attend the game, but the Fox Footy team repeated ad nauseam about our seeming inability to look beyond the player presenting closest to them when it was obvious that there were better options further afield. Until we get better users of the ball into the side we will remain fair to middling at best. Which of course is news to nobody.

This is what I'm getting at though, we do have some some really skilful players in the team (although more definitely wouldn't hurt) we just have to use them better, there is no reason for Higgins in space to handball when he is one of our better ball users, if its the other way round then Picken would be smart to use Higgins in that situation.

Good morning Bulldogs supporters,
The Richmond board currently has a banter thread for Round 3.
Essentially it is Bay 13 in the Richmond board where you will NOT get infracted for trolling (within reason).
Thread is here: http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threa...s-should-be-a-walkover.1055587/#post-32316806
It is a fun thread. Join in on the fun.
Good luck this round,
The Richmond Mod Team.
Not so much banter, as gratuitous insults. Fun for the Tigers, feeling superior to the second bottom team.
Prefer our Face Off thread.

Biggest worry for me is the amount of forward opportunities that we had and squandered.

The final 10-15 minutes of the first quarter we domianted and had the running and the ball inside 50 multiple times and didn't have a goal to show for it.
We had multiple opportunities in the last part of the 3rd quarter as well - major disappointment.

I don't think Dahlhaus had that good of a game that people are suggested because he was the one that squandered a lot of these opportunities. Including that smother.

It's fine for commenters saying play "X" is on his own but player with the ball didn't go to him but they forget they are viewing the game from level 2 looking down on the game but the player is on ground level and may not see the free player as they are also on the ground level.

How many times have they not see someone on the same level as them.

Remember the years the dogs would just bomb the ball forward?

Now the players are spotting up targets and hitting them.

There was one sequence that I loved and it involved Macrae running down the wing, he had a target farther away, but the player waved him off and pointed to someone closer. Macrae didn't hesitate and hit him with a perfect pass.

Hawthorn are praised for hitting short, lead up targets, but when it's the dogs..it's bad!

Yeah always easier from the stands or the sofa but I think they have some sort of a point - whether we aren't using the ball properly under pressure or whatever, esp against WC we would scramble the ball out of the pack and end up turning it over whereas they would get it out and make some sort of constructive forward move.
